Types prepositions
1.Prepositions of Place.
A preposition of place is a preposition which is used to refer to a place where something or someone is located
2.Prepositions of Time.
In – This preposition of time is used to discuss months, seasons, years, centuries, general times of day, and longer periods of time such as “in the past.”
3.Prepositions of Direction.
Direction prepositions are special because they show some type of movement.
4.Prepositions of Location.

There are some cows in the field.
The mouse is in the box.
4. ‘‘ ON ’’
• We use “on” if something is on a horizontal or
vertical surface.
• Examples:
• The picture is on the wall.
On the front cover of the magazine.
5. ‘‘ UNDER ’’
To describe something that is physically lowe
than another thing.
• Example:
• They stood under a tree to avoid
getting wet.
6. ‘‘ NEAR’’
• To describe things that are
within a short distance of
one another.
• Example:
• Jane’s house is near the beach.
7. ‘‘ NEXT TO’’
To describe something that is very close to
another thing, and almost
touching that thing.
• Example:
• Go and sit next to the dog.
8. ‘‘ BETWEEN vs. AMONG ’’
√ Between: To describe something that is between
two people/places/groups
• Example:
• A pile of books lay between the students
√ Among: To describe something that is
in the middle of
many things.
• Example:
• The green apple is among the red ones.
9. ‘‘ OPPOSITE’’
We use “opposite” for two things that are facing
one another.
• Example:
• They sat opposite each other in the meeting room.
