Prepositions
What are prepositions
☻They demonstrate us where (space),
when (time) and how (cause) things
or people are.
☻They help you out what the
relationship between two things in
time and space or how one thing
relates to another.
The rule
☻Preposition + Noun/Ving
☻They are called prepositions because
they come before the noun to which
they refer so they are pre- positions.
☻Preposition ‘ago’ is an exception.
Because it comes after the noun.
e.g. Six years ago
Example Sentences
☻The temperature has not risen much
above zero for the past week.
☻We went across the street to that
restaurant.
☻Against
♫ I saw Altan leaning against a wall in the
terminal building.
♫ Workers began to protest against their
appalling conditions (ağır şartlar).

♫ The Belgians were in favor, the Dutch
against.
♫ We can get rid of the real evidence
against him.
☻ahead of
♫ We are now two years ahead of
schedule.
♫ We have a long journey ahead of us,
let’s talk to pass the time.

♫ Youngsters are receiving maximum
exposure to new ideas of the world
around them.

♫ This watch was given me as a birthday

♫ He works as a teacher in a private high

(1)what something consists of: strong

Prepositions

  • 2. What are prepositions ☻They demonstrate us where (space), when (time) and how (cause) things or people are. ☻They help you out what the relationship between two things in time and space or how one thing relates to another.
  • 3. The rule ☻Preposition + Noun/Ving ☻They are called prepositions because they come before the noun to which they refer so they are pre- positions. ☻Preposition ‘ago’ is an exception. Because it comes after the noun. e.g. Six years ago
