11.4 Qualitative Versus Quantitative AnalysisDavidMcLachlan1
Qualitative risk analysis involves subjectively assigning probability and impact ratings to risks through brainstorming, while quantitative risk analysis uses numerical cost data and modeling techniques like Monte Carlo simulation to analyze risks. Qualitative risk analysis is used to prioritize all project risks, while quantitative risk analysis is only applied to certain risks as deemed necessary due to its greater level of analysis. The key difference is that qualitative risk analysis focuses on probability and impact ratings, while quantitative risk analysis focuses on estimating numerical dollar costs.
CRM allows tracking of individual behaviors and activities from direct communications. To measure the impact of direct messages, a hold-out group that does not receive direct marketing is created for comparison. This hold-out group should be similar to the target constituents and typically a 1% hold-out count is sufficient for large databases. CRM metrics include measuring growth, predictive accuracy, campaign performance, and contribution to fundraising. Maintaining a hold-out group allows measuring the incremental impact of CRM initiatives alone.
The document discusses various strategies and services related to control, risk management, and business performance enhancement. It covers areas such as risk analysis, strategic planning, interim management, business strategy development, performance benchmarking, vision implementation, outsourcing, coaching, training, and staff recruitment. The overall approach is to provide clients with education, consulting, and implementation support to strengthen processes in these areas and drive organizational success.
The document discusses the services provided by BestResumeHelp.com, which include resume writing, cover letter crafting, and professional guidance to help individuals communicate effectively and achieve success. It emphasizes that communication is key to success and that the company understands the pivotal role of communication. It then provides details on resume writing, cover letter services, professional guidance resources, and why to choose BestResumeHelp.com for tailored, high-quality, and timely communication services.

Shaping Your Culture via Risk Appetite Andrew Smart
This document discusses the importance of risk appetite and embedding risk culture at organizations. It begins by defining risk appetite as the amount and type of risk an entity is willing to accept over a set period of time to achieve its objectives. The document then notes that weaknesses in risk appetite governance contributed to the financial crisis and that properly establishing and monitoring risk appetite is a board responsibility. It stresses that risk appetite should be integrated into strategic planning and outlines how organizations can set, execute, and monitor their risk appetite.

M_o_R is intended to help organisations put in place an effective framework for risk management. This will help them make informed decisions about the risks that affect their strategic, programme, project and operational objectives. The guide provides a route map for risk management, bringing together basic concepts, an approach, a process with a set of interrelated process steps, and pointers to more detailed sources of advice on risk management techniques and specialisms. It also provides advice on how the principles, approach and processes should be embedded, reviewed and applied differently depending on the nature of the objectives at risk.
This three day Management of Risk (M_o_R) course is designed to illustrate this best practice framework and give candidates an understanding of risk as it should be managed across an organisation. Within project and programme environments there will always be risk which needs to be identified, analysed and managed. Other areas of an organisation will also be exposed to risks as operational functions are carried out. M_o_R provides guidance on how best to deal with all these areas.
The Guide has been written by leading industry experts and is part of the ‘Swirl’ set of best practices managed by AXELOS, which includes ITIL, PRINCE2 & MSP methodologies. This training event is designed to prepare candidates to manage risks in a controlled and structured way by examining the M_o_R guide. Examinations are available during the event for candidates to achieve the Foundation level certification.
Syzygal is a globally Accredited Training Organisation and Accredited Courseware Provider for the M_o_R education & certification program. We are accredited by the following Examination Institutes: APMG, EXIN, Loyalist and PEOPLECERT.
A crisis management team (CMT) is responsible for managing organizational crises and restoring normal business operations. The CMT should establish what occurred, assess the impact, identify required actions, and retain control. Key roles include assessors who evaluate business interruptions, senior executives who provide guidance and approval, and communicators who inform internal and external stakeholders. Selecting an effective leader and training team members in crisis response is critical for the CMT to fulfill its responsibilities in managing crises and minimizing losses for the organization.
While critical control frameworks are becoming increasingly common in mines and quarries in NSW, effective implementation of these frameworks can be hampered by an inadequate grasp of the necessary data inputs, indicators and human psychology that govern whether the framework will create the intended outcome. As statutory mechanical officials in mines and quarries in NSW, assuring the effectiveness of critical risk controls can significantly reduce blidspots and improve your ability to know where you stand in relation to critical control effectiveness. This presentation will elevate your ability to:
• Identify and address complexity risk in developing critical control frameworks
• Recognise and respond to cognitive bias to maximise the performance of critical control frameworks
• Evaluate and apply key risk indicators and risk tolerances in order to effectively and honestly measure the performance of critical control frameworks.
The document discusses how companies can control the narrative during a crisis through effective communication. It emphasizes the importance of preparation, having an online newsroom to provide updates, and building relationships with reporters and stakeholders. Companies should use their organizational knowledge, people, and communication channels to tell their story and regain control over the narrative if others begin spreading undesired stories. Controlling the narrative is crucial for crisis management and recovery.
It Takes Two: How to Grow with your Customers for Relationships that LastInfluitive
Evan Jacobs, Senior Manager of Customer Marketing & Advocacy
In today’s crowded marketplace, customers are inundated with information, offers and requests for their time, money and resources. This makes it difficult to not only cut through the noise, but also a challenge to create meaningful and lasting relationships with them. Lack of engagement doesn’t always mean they’re not listening; it could just mean you’re taking the wrong approach. Much like any other relationship, building and maintaining a certain level of trust is the key to a successful partnership. Creating this foundation can open a dialogue, allowing both parties to mutually benefit, grow and learn from one another.
In this session, Evan Jacobs, Senior Manager of Customer Marketing & Advocacy at the cyber-security company Rapid7, will break down the key steps and benefits to establishing trust and meaningful dialogue with customers, highlighting some this strategy and approach that Rapid7 has used to elevate customers into super advocates. Audience members will walk away with actionable steps for how to implement these tactics in their own organizations at a global level.

The document discusses creating effective communication strategies for raising awareness about ocean conservation. It recommends establishing that the ocean has health, showing how human health is connected, communicating past harms, focusing on solutions and stewardship, being creative, and repeating key messages. The Marine CoLAB aims to cultivate public understanding of ocean systems and solutions through collaboration, experimentation, and framing issues around shared values. Their "changing health" story and reframing the ocean as the planet's body or climate's heart are presented as promising communication approaches.
This document summarizes trends affecting charities and nonprofit organizations. It discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic may accelerate changes to flexible working arrangements. Younger generations are having different views of charities that organizations need to understand. While Brexit continues to impact politics, charities must work to build relationships with new MPs and consider how to engage Conservative voters. Mental health and environmental issues are rising up public and political agendas. Charities are experimenting with pop-up events and spoken word audio to engage new audiences.

A Guide to AI for Smarter Nonprofits - Dr. Cori Faklaris, UNC CharlotteCori Faklaris
Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.

Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.Christina Parmionova
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)

The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.
RFP for Reno's Community Assistance CenterThis Is Reno
Property appraisals completed in May for downtown Reno’s Community Assistance and Triage Centers (CAC) reveal that repairing the buildings to bring them back into service would cost an estimated $10.1 million—nearly four times the amount previously reported by city staff.
This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.
