Preliminary Task September 2014
Assessment 3: MAP 1
Brief: Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a
door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another
character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of
dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse
shot and the 180-degree rule.
Evidence of match on action
Evidence of shot reverse shot
Evidence of 180 rule
Evaluation of task (comment on
use of planning, use of camera,
use of iMovie and working as part
of a group. Include 2 areas for
improvement, which you work on
during the main task.)
Overall, I would say that we worked
quite well as a group. We all got
involved and our final video looked
good. We included all of the media
features that we were told to and we
managed to film separate clips and
then edit them together using iMovie.
We also made a storyboard and
prepared a script before we started
filming so we knew what was going to
happen in our prelim film. The camera
was very easy to use and we did our
best to come up with the best possible
video that we could. To improve for
future tasks, we could practice editing
video clips together more and look at
familiarizing ourselves with iMovie.
And finally, we could look at working
with props, costumes and different
backgrounds to make our films more
effective.
