have done wonderful things, things
planned long ago, in complete
faithfulness and truth. (Isa 25:1)
Isaiah is jubilant in his praise of God
He is determined to praise Lord Yahweh, for in so doing
he is satisfied.
Let us also then with enthusiasm raise our voices to the
God of heaven in praise
3. Lord Yahweh as Isaiah saw
and praised him (Isa 25)
For you have been a stronghold to the poor,
a stronghold to the needy in his
distress,
a refuge from the storm,
a shade from the heat,
when the blast of the dreaded ones is like a
storm against the wall. (Isa 25:4)
Lord Yahweh, he is the God of the poor
He is concerned about the needy
Wow! He is a refuge from the storm
A shade from the heat
Awesome: when the blast of the dreaded ones is like a storm
against the wall.

tremendous pressure
against his adversaries,
found comfort in his God
and saw him as his
‘Stronghold‘
6. Desiring Lord Yahweh (Isa 26)
Yes, in the way of your judgments, Yahweh,
have we waited for you.
Your name and your renown are the
desireof our soul.
With my soul I have desired you in the night.
Yes, with my spirit within me I will seek you earnestly;
for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of
the world learn righteousness.
Isa 26:8,9
8. “For Yahweh spoke thus to me with a strong
hand, and instructed me
not to walk in the way of
this people,
saying, “Don’t say, ‘A conspiracy!’ concerning all
about which this people say, ‘A conspiracy!’
neither fear their threats, nor be
terrorized.
Yahweh of Armies is who you must respect as
holy. He is the one you must fear. He is the
one you must dread.” Isa 8:11-13
9. Why/How do we dread God?
Believe God exists
Know that he is serious about our holy
behaviour
He has displeasure in sin
Dreading God leads us to paths of eternal life
10. Even Jesus had fear
and dread of God
“Who in the days of his flesh,
when he had offered up
prayers and supplications
with strong crying and
tears unto him that was able
to save him from
death, and was heard in
that he feared;“ [Heb
5:7]
11. The apostle encouraged us to
work out our salvation with
“fear and trembling”
Php 2:12 So then, my beloved, even as you
have always obeyed, not only in my
presence, but now much more in my
absence, work out your
own salvation with fear
and trembling.
13. ABOUT US IT IS WRITTEN
“Also the foreigners who join themselves to Yahweh, to
serve him, and to love Yahweh’s name, to be his servants, everyone
who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it, and holds fast my covenant; I
will bring these to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house
of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my
altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”
Isa 56:6-7
14. Jesus picks on this
verse as he purged
the temple:
Mar 11:17 He taught,
saying to them, “Isn’t
it written, ‘My house
will be called a house
of prayer for all the
nations?’ But you
have made it a den
of robbers!”
15. “Choose the things that please me”
“For Yahweh says, “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,
and choose the things that please me, and
hold fast to my covenant: I will give them in my house and
within my walls a memorial and a name better than of sons
and of daughters. I will give them an everlasting name, that
will not be cut off.” Isa 56:4-5
16. Dealing with inferiority complex
Isa 56:3 Let no foreigner, who has joined himself to Yahweh, speak, saying,
“Yahweh will surely
separate me from his people.” Do not let the eunuch say,
“Behold, I am a dry tree.”
17. We are encouraged to persevere and continue
even if nothing spectacular is happening around
us.
Paul encourages us to never give up but to
continue in good deeds:
Gal 4:18 But it is always good to be zealous in a good
cause
Gal 6:9 Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we
will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.
18. Lord Yahweh says
Isa 56:1 Yahweh says, “Maintain justice, and do what
is right; for my salvation is near, and my
righteousness will soon be revealed.
Maintain justice, I.e. we should also be proactive when it
comes to things that pertain to justice
Do what is right
for my salvation is near, and my righteousness will soon be
revealed;
I.e. serving Lord Yahweh always requires perseverance and
patience
20. Contrite (Repentent) | Trembles
Isa 66:2 “but I will look to this man, even to he
who is poor and of a contrite spirit,
and who trembles at my word.
Isa 57:15 For thus says the high and lofty One
who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I
dwell in the high and holy
place, with him also who is of a
contrite and humble spirit, to revive
the spirit of the humble, and to revive the
heart of the contrite.
21. You who tremble at his word | Rejected
Isa 66:5 Hear Yahweh’s word, you who tremble at his word: “Your brothers
who hate you, who cast you out for my name’s sake, have said, ‘Let Yahweh
be glorified, that we may see your joy;’ but it is those who shall be disappointed.
Mat 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of
Heaven.
Mat 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Mat 5:5 Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
…
Mat 5:11 “Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you,
and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Jesus’ blessings based on Isaiah’s writings
22. Sin breaks
intimacy
Isa 59:2 But your
iniquities
have separated you
and your God, and
your sins have hidden
his face from you, so
that he will not hear.
23. The Solution
Isa 59:1 Behold, Yahweh’s hand is not shortened, that it
can’t save; nor his ear dull, that it can’t hear.
Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the
unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return
to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him; and to our
God, for he will freely pardon.
24. We are exhorted to overcome and remain in
Lord Yahweh:
Heb 12:1 lay aside every weight and the sin which
so easily entangles us, and let’s run with
perseverance the race that is set before us,
1Jn 3:22 and whatever we ask, we receive from
him, because we keep his commandments and do
the things that are pleasing in his sight.
26. With those he has a covenant relationship he
desires to show loving kindness towards us:
Isa 54:8 In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with
everlasting loving kindness I will have mercy on you,”
says Yahweh your Redeemer.
Isa 54:10 For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but
my loving kindness will not depart from you, and my covenant of
peace will not be removed,” says Yahweh who has mercy on you.
27. “I will tell of the loving kindnesses of Yahweh and
the praises of Yahweh, according to all that Yahweh has
given to us, and the great goodness toward the house
of Israel, which he has given to them according to his
mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving
kindnesses. For he said, “Surely, they are my people,
children who will not deal falsely;” so he became their
Savior.
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the
angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his
pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried
them all the days of old.” Isa 63:7-9
