With Team Foundation Server 2015 and Visual Studio Online, Microsoft has made available a brand new cross-platform build technology. This new build technology promises to be simpler to implement and maintain than Microsoft's previous attempts at automating builds. Rather than dealing with complex XML and/or XAML you simply "compose" build definitions by adding the build activities you need for your specific implementation. The build agents are also must easier to scale and keep up to date than previous build agents. You can even build your Android and iOS apps with it!

"How much will this cost?" "How long will it take?" "What am I going to get?" These are the questions that every Agile project gets asked at some point. And while "as much as your willing to spend", "as long as necessary" and "whatever you ask for" are perfectly acceptable, many customers are uncomfortable with these answers. This may reflect more on the customer then the team, but can lead to the misconception that the development team is writing themselves a blank cheque. How then does an Agile team define and scope a project where the customer requires fixed time, cost or scope? This presentation will provide guidance and direction on how to quote for and budget Agile projects, as well as how to change the questions in the first place. This is intended to be a practical discussion on how organisations can plan agile projects while constrained in a non-agile environment. There are four parts to the presentation (roughly a quarter of the presentation will be spent on each). 1. A look at constraints in general (starting with time, cost and scope), and the potential impact on a project. 2. How to structure a project proposal when the customer expects it to be constrained (e.g. fixed price or fixed time) 3. How to adjust your project (in an agile manner) when it looks like you will break a constraint. 4. Finally, we will look at ways of changing your customer - moving them away from a constrained mindset towards an agile mindset

Culture differenti possono interpretare in modo diametralmente opposto atteggiamenti, frasi e situazioni. Se non opportunamente gestita la situazione porta a problemi critici di collaborazione all'interno del team minando le possibilità il successo del progetto. L'approccio Agile al progetto tende a mitigare questo rischio grazie alla intrinseca resilienza dei principi ai quali si ispira. Comunicazione trasparente e feedback continui sul prodotto incrementale riducono notevolmente il rischio di non capirsi e di remare in direzioni diverse. In questa presentazione vedremo alcune pratiche che favoriscono la collaborazione e fanno emergere il potenziale che i team interculturali possono dare ad un progetto.

Continous Integration: A Case Study

One of the challenges faced by many web development based projects is the integration of source code for multiple releases during parallel development. The task to build and test the multiple versions of source code can eat out the quality time and limit the efficiency of the development/QA team. The case study focuses to resolve the issues of extensive effort consumed in build and deployment process from multiple branches in source repository and aim at Identification of source code integration issues at the earliest stage. This can further be enhanced to limit the manual intervention by integration of build system with test automation tool. The above can be achieved by using different CI tools (like Hudson/Bamboo/TeamCity/CruiseControl etc) for continuous build preparation and its integration with any test automation suite. The case study specifies the use of CI-Hudson tool for continuous integration using ANT tool for build preparation and further invoking the automation test suite developed using selenium. It also discusses the limitations and challenges of using such an integration system for testing a web based application deployed on Apache Tomcat server. It also details additional plugins available to enhance such an integration of multiple systems and what can be achieved using the above integration.

This slide deck illustrates Constant Contact's approach to running sets of regression test suites on a regular schedule using SeleniumRC and Hudson. Hudson is a continuous integration server designed for building applications and running unit test unattended, and storing run report and metric artifacts. Hudson can also process a variety of different types of jobs, including running SeleniumRC Java test cases using JUnit as the test runner. SeleniumRC can be run unattended on multiple slave computers in parallel, each running SeleniumRC, to quickly run through many test cases.
