The name of the 2007 hit wasRec. the directorof the filmwas Jaume Balagueró who directed
other films like darkness in 2002 and rec 2 in 2009. The year of the production for the
film rec was 2007. The producer of this film was Carlos Fernandez. The main cast of the
film rec was Manuela velasco who is the main character angela vidal, ferran terraza who
played manu and Pablo rosso who played Pablo. The distributor for the film rec was film
max international. Recs country of origin was Spain. Budget $2 million. The box office
takings were £32.5 million.
Quarantine (2008)
In 2008 quarantine was a remake of the 2007 film rec. the difference being it was made
by a more popular production company Vertigo Entertainment. Director John Erick
Dowdle made the film in English although he kept the film exactly the same just in
English and used English actors. I believe the special effects were better in quarantine.
The made an astonishing $41,319,906 in box office takings. However the budget was 6

3. times more than rec’s budget as quarantines budget was $12 million. The cast of
quarantine was very different as English people played the parts, Jennifer Carpenter
plays Angela Vidal Steve Harris plays Scott Percival and jay Hernandez plays jake. The
production date was 2008 and the producers for the film are Doug Davison and Roy lee.
The two films are very similar and are both extremely popular in the film business. They
both racked up a huge amount in box office takings. The differences in the film are
quality of the camera. Quarantine had a more HD camera which made the film look
better more professional. However some people may think that this is worse as rec looks
extremely real as the camera quality looks like a hand held one. One huge difference is
that quarantine is in English. This would appeal to a more vast audience as more people
speak English than Spanish.
Another remake film that is similar but extremely different is clash of the titans. The
original film was made in 1981 and the remake was 2010. The massive difference in the
two films is the CGI the graphics in the 2010 one are much more clearer however they
look very far-fetched and not real.
