Introduction to Tuscany Wines (15 Minutes)Ron Hose
Introduction to Tuscany wines - 15 minutes high lever overview of history, grapes varieties, terrior, appellation system, regions, and most notable wines (Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Super Tuscans, etc.).
Collina del Tiglio is a family owned winery in Piedmont, Italy. Our vineyards are located among the medieval towns and castles of Alto-Monferrato.
The 10 hectares of vines, some more than 50 years old, include Chardonnay, Cortese, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Cabernet Franc varietals. Our viniculture philosophy is a blend of personal attention and a modern approach.
Keeping organic principles in mind, Collina del Tiglio tries not to interfere with the natural Piemontese weather patterns and eco-systems.
With more than a century of experience, Bolla is a cellar which produces classic Veneto wines, with respect for tradition and for the region, distributed throughout the world.
Genuine, pleasing and satisfying wines for young consumers and also for experts and connoisseurs.
Stretching 377 hectares up the majestic Helderberg Mountains, Bilton is an old-world wine estate, ideally situated in the famed Stellenbosch wine region of South Africa. The gracious combination of our ideal location and fruitful terroir enable us to produce award-winning, boutique wines that are as rich and as complex as the berries from which they're made.

2. Mintie Wine & Spirits is proud to present nine varietals from Olivi Winery which is
nestled in the Siena Hills and part of Le Buche Farms.
Since first being offered in July 2014, they have been well received and are available
at such up-scale restaurants as Valentino’s, Via Alloro, Toscano, Giorgio Baldi, Big
Canyon Country Club, Virginia Country Club, Avenue of the Arts Hotel and Michael’s
on Naples, among many others.
3. Giuseppe Olivi and his son Riccardo produce award-winning wines inspired by
the Tuscan tradition. One of their winemakers is Andrea Paoletti, renowned
for his production of Ornellaia and Tignanello at Antinori.
4. ZELIA 2013 100% Syrah grapes “vinified in white”
Has been compared to a nice summer kiss
• Early harvest and the method of processing
allows for the scents and aromas of the grapes
in the final product.
• Zelia has an elegant body and delivers the
perfect balance between fruity, dry and sweet.
5. ORHORA 2013 85% Verdicchio + Sauvignon Blanc & Viognier
• The vineyard is situated at the top of
a hill and is the first to receive the
morning sun. The varieties are
fermented separately.
• The resulting wine is round, complex
and fresh at the same time with
good structure and acidity. It has a
nice long finish in the nose and a
taste of pear and citrus fruits.
6. I PURI 2009 100% Merlot
For the Connoisseur and Collector
• Giuseppe and Riccardo Olivi proudly
present “I Puri.” Striving for perfection,
I Puri is made only from hand-selected
grapes from the variety & plot which
produces the best grapes of that
particular year. It is very special and
made with passion.
• The idea is to bring out the best taste of
the chosen variety. In this case, it is
black cherry, plum and raspberry with
medium tannins and acidity.
• Produced in limited quantities.
7. CHIANTI SUPERIORE 2011 85% Sangiovese 15% Merlot
Slightly smoother than a regular Chianti Classico
• The varieties are vinified separately and
aged 5 months – the Sangiovese in
barrels and Merlot in barriques. At the
end of aging, the final blend is made
using the better barrels. The resulting
wine has a lively, ruby color, intense
perfumes and soft and velvet tannins.
• The wine is aged in bottle 3-4 months
and is released only after the 1st of the
year following the year of the harvest.
8. CORENO 2013 80% Trebbiano 20% Malvasia
• The age of the vines – more than 50
years, gives this wine complexity and
character. Coreno is an elegant wine –
very long in the mouth. The nose is rich
with an excellent balance between fruity
and floral notes.
• Coreno has a full body but is still fresh,
leaving a big impression.
9. LE BUCHE 2008 70% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot,
10% Petit Verdot, 10% Cabernet Franc
Informal blind tastings have found Le Buche beating Tignanello!
• The entire manual care of the grapes and drastic
thinning of the bunches enables a maximum
yield. The barriques used, plus the short aging
period, make this wine pleasantly fresh and easy
to drink.
• Le Buche is a classical Tuscan wine. Ripe and
exotic, it’s dry finish is based on a nice presence
of tannins, making it smooth and spicy at the
same time.
10. MEMENTO 2007 50% Sangiovese 50% Syrah
The refined pleasure of wine
• The grapes are hand-picked. After their
maceration with their skins for 30 days, the
Syrah is transferred to barriques and the
Sangiovese is placed in French oak Tonneaux.
After blending, the wine is returned to
wooden barrels for a year and then aged in
bottles for 12-18 months.
• Memento is a very rich Tuscan blend
representing a good compromise between the
traditional and modern Tuscan wine. It offers
a smooth and elegant experience and a taste
of dark berries.
11. TEMPORE 2007 60% Merlot 40% Cabernet Sauvignon
According to Master Sommelier Steven Poe, this is the belle of the ball.
• Grapes are hand-picked under strict selection
and undergo malolactic fermentation in
French oak barriques. Upon completion, the
wine is blended and then matures in the
barriques another year. After bottling, the
wine is then aged another 12-18 months.
• Tempore is a wine with a strong character and
a lot of depth. The tannins are well-balanced
with a persistent finish.
12. PUGNITELLO 2010 100% Pugnitello grape
A very special wine experience
• Pugnitello is a grape almost lost in time but
thanks to the University of Florence and a
handful of growers, it is enjoying a revival. Yields
are low, with very small bunches in the shape of a
fist (pugno in Italian,) hence its name.
• The intense color with violet nuances, the good
acidity and finesse, make the Pugnitello a wine
with a great personality.
