2. The procedure
▪ PPDT is a part of the screening test conducted on Day 1
▪ After the completion of the OIR(Officer Intelligence Rating) test all
the candidates are taken into a big hall probably where all can sit
▪ Then an officer briefs you about what needs to be done for the PPDT
test
▪ A hazy picture is shown on the projector screen for 30 seconds
▪ Look very carefully at the picture and keep in mind the number of
prominent characters, their age and mood, items visible in the scene
and the background

4. What to write in the box
▪ You are totally given 5 minutes to fill the box,
write the action and the story
▪ Draw a dot across all the places on the box which
match the position of the characters on the screen
▪ On the dot write M for male, F for female and also
mention their ages
▪ Mention +,-,o for positive,negative,neutral moods
of the characters in the picture
▪ Encircle the character that you feel is the main
character of the story
▪ In the space provided for action,write what’s
happening in the picture

6. The procedure
▪ In the remaining 4 minutes write the story according to your
imagination
▪ Then there is some time gap where you can just prepare the story
that you had written and try telling it in a minute.
▪ Then you are divided into groups and taken into a room and made to
sit in a semicircular fashion
▪ Every candidate has to tell his story in a minute and if you don’t then
the next candidate is asked to continue
▪ After all the candidates have spoken the discussion starts

7. What all can be spoken about in the
discussion…?
▪ At first discuss the number of characters in the pictures
▪ When everybody agrees to a particular number discuss the age and gender
of the characters
▪ When this is set, discuss the mood of the characters and later what’s
happening in the picture.
▪ Then discuss the probable theme of the story.
▪ So even if you don’t have anything to speak you can easily talk about the
age,sex,mood and the number of characters.
▪ Support someone else’s story if its very good.
▪ Contribute good points for the discussion

8. Finaly……….
▪ That’s the end of what all happens in PPDT
▪ If you have performed well then you get screened in or
else………………Better luck next time
▪ Remember ,Screening is a process of mass rejection rather than
selection so put up your best in the first stage itself and you will enjoy
the fruits.
