 Structural strengthening & retrofit.
 Structural repairs & remediation.
Paradigm Projects strives to achieve client satisfaction by incorporating in our works, a high degree of engineering design & innovation by employing innovative techniques, tools, equipments and high performance materials.
Paradigm Projects is professionally managed by a civil engineering graduate having seventeen years of worldwide experience in this specialist field.
The field of structural repairs, strengthening and retrofit involves a wide array of specialised services.
Paradigm Projects are experienced and equipped to offer services involving almost all of these activities.
However, contrary to the popular saying “ Jack of All Trades” we have perfected our core competence to the following main services characterised on basis of;
“OBJECTIVE & TECHNIQUE”
OBJECTIVE
 Retrofit to compensate design or material strength deficiencies.
 Retrofit to cater to problems associated with drafting errors.
 Repair/strengthening due to construction errors.
 Repair/strengthening due to distress caused by aggressive environmental exposure and seismic event.
 Retrofit to cater to proposed additional load condition.
 Retrofit to cater to change in use or structural additions and alterations.
 Retrofit for compliance to revision in code provisions.
SERVICES OFFERED
TECHNIQUE
 Concrete patch repair.
 Concrete jacketing.
 Pre-placed aggregate grouting.
 Steel plate bonding.
 High pressure injection.
 Low pressure grouting.
 Chemical anchoring and dowelling.
 Stitching.
 Fibre Reinforced Composites (Fibre Wrapping).
SERVICES OFFERED
Steel plate bonding
High pressure injection

PROJECT PROFILE
Project Residential Towers, Hyderabad.
Objective Repair & Strengthening due to construction problems.
Technique Patch repairs, low pressure grouting, pre-placed aggregate grouting & FRP strengthening.
Project Brief In an on-going project various columns, beams and shear walls exhibited extreme localised anomalies in the form of voids and honeycombs. These anomalies were repaired and strengthened using the above mentioned techniques to bring the elements back to the required level of service.
Concrete Anomalies – Honeycombs and Voids
Repaired Sections
PROJECT PROFILE
Project Commercial Development, Bangalore.
Objective Retrofit to compensate material strength deficiency.
Technique FRP strengthening (Carbon Fibre Wrapping).
Project Brief Reinforcement steel used in 36 drop panels top location of a flat slab floor plate was found to be non-compliant to the tensile strength requirements. This brought about a deficiency in the moment capacity. This deficiency was compensated by additionally reinforcing the deficient areas using the carbon fibre wrapping technique. System performance was validated by conducting post strengthening load tests.

Carbon Fibre Installation
Carbon Fibranchor®
PROJECT PROFILE
Project Commercial/Mall Development, Bangalore.
Objective Retrofit to cater to structural additions and alterations.
Technique Concrete jacketing, Steel plate bonding, FRP strengthening (Carbon Fibre Wrapping).
Project Brief Major structural additions and alterations were proposed to be carried out to meet certain client requirements. This resulted in certain footings and columns requiring capacity enhancement. Retrofit using the above techniques was carried out.
Steel Plate Jacketing
Surface Preparation
Carbon Fibre Wrapping
PROJECT PROFILE
Project Commercial Development, Bangalore.
Objective Retrofit to cater to proposed additional loading.
Technique FRP strengthening (Carbon/E-Glass Fibre Wrapping).
Project Brief Certain large voided areas in an ongoing commercial development were proposed to be covered. This resulted in certain beams and columns requiring capacity enhancement due to this increased loading. Retrofit using the above techniques was carried out prior to covering the voided areas.
Column Capacity Enhancement by Fibre Wrapping
PROJECT PROFILE
Project Flyover Construction, Mumbai.
Objective Repair/Strengthening due to construction error.
Technique Low pressure, multi-port resin injection and FRP strengthening (Carbon Fibranchor).
Project Brief
12 nos. pre-cast, post tensioned concrete girders of a flyover, developed structural cracks upon subjecting to initial tensioning force. The cause was found to be erroneous placement of bursting reinforcement around the stressing heads. A repair and strengthening scheme using the above techniques proved to be fruitful and no further cracks appeared upon further stressing and launching.
Structural Cracks
Low Pressure, Multi Port Crack Injection
Carbon Fibranchor® Stitching
PROJECT PROFILE
Project Gang Saw Foundation, Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
Objective Structural Remediation of Construction Joints / Cracks and Strengthening to Mitigate Excessive Vibration.
Technique High Pressure Epoxy Injection, FRP Crack Stitching, FRP strengthening and anchoring.
Project Brief
Construction joints and cracks in a gang-saw foundation led to excessive movement and vibrations causing frequent maintenance and down time. Cracks and construction joints were pressure injected with low viscosity epoxy resin and then FRP stitched. Strengthening was carried out at locally using FRP. Subsequently at critical locations, the foundation was “anchored” using carbon fibre anchors. The whole process was carried out during the shut down period of just 7 days.

Crack stitching and FRP Strengthening.
Carbon Fibre Anchoring.
High Presssure Epoxy Injection
PROJECT PROFILE
Project Govt. Housing Project, Yelhanka.Bangalore.
Objective Structural Remediation and Leak Mitigation through Cracks at RCC Slab Panels.
Technique High Pressure Injection using Polyurethane Foam Resin.
Project Brief
A substantial number of slab panels of a floor in an ongoing residential project exhibited distress in the form of full depth cracks. Incessant rains at that time aggravated the scenario by causing the slab panels to leak badly through the cracks. A specialist third party inspection and recommendation suggested immediate remedial measures by way of crack injection. Paradigm Projects suggested an appropriate polyurethane injection system to the clients that would not only restore structural integrity by bonding with crack planes under wet conditions but also immediately mitigate water leakage through the cracks.
Slab Cracks wtih Leakages (before PU injection)
Active Leak Through Beam (before PU injection)
Leak mitigated (1 hour after PU injection)
Slab Cracks ( 1 hour after PU injection)
PROJECT PROFILE
Project Industrial Building, Navi Mumbai.
Objective Structural Remediation to Cracks in Deck Slab of a Composite Structure.
Technique High Pressure Two Component Polyurethane Resin Injection using Non- Intrusive Surface Mounted Port.
Project Brief
Substantial cracking was observed in a composite concrete deck slab of an large area floor plate of an industrial structure. The cracks were due to delayed cutting of slab control joints and were also diagnosed and noted to be active. Paradigm Projects recommended remedial measures by low pressure injection of two component flexible polyurethane resin using a non-intrusive surface mounted injection technique. The objective being dual purpose; structurally bond the crack planes and allow movement of the crack plane. Almost 600 linear meters of cracks were successfully remedied.
