The United Nations Organization was formed in 1945 with the goal of representing all of mankind and preserving peace. It has several main organs including the General Assembly, Security Council, Secretariat, Economic and Social Council, Trusteeship Council, and International Court of Justice. The General Assembly acts as the UN parliament and meets annually, the Security Council is responsible for international peace and security, and the Secretariat carries out administrative functions. The UN also has specialized agencies focused on issues like health, education, agriculture, and economics.
