Professional Development ExperienceBeing an effective early .docxdenneymargareta
Professional Development Experience
Being an effective early childhood professional requires more than a passion for teaching or ability to work well with children. In the first five years of life, the most critical skills are formed by creating synaptic connections that are key to cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development. Because of their developmental stage, the environment you provide as an early educator will set the foundation for each child’s K- 12 learning experience and beyond. However, as an early childhood professional, you will not work in isolation. Other professionals contribute to service provided to this population, including speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, and educational advocates. Therefore, it is essential that as an early childhood professional you are able to communicate effectively with other professionals.
Scenario:
The principal from a local school district was impressed with the proposal you wrote for him about the role families and communities play in promoting optimal cognitive development. Based on your proposal, they have offered you a spot as a key presenter at a district-wide professional development workshop for teachers, where you will share your knowledge regarding cognitive development. All of these ideas will come together as you design your Professional Development Experience project. Before starting your Final Project, you are encouraged to view the Week Five Instructor Guidance for additional information, resources, and support, including a deeper look at the professionals you will work with in the field. Additionally, review the Grading Rubric for this assignment to understand how you will be evaluated and contact your instructor using the “Ask Your Instructor” tab before the due date with questions.
In order to develop this comprehensive workshop for the targeted professional development population, the principal has given you specific talking points that must be addressed. You will use these talking points to guide your creation of a presentation using PowerPoint or Google Slides. In the slide notes section, please make sure to support the information you have shared on each slide. Finally, make sure to include a title and reference slide for your presentation.
The Professional Development Experience must include the following:
Theoretical Framework (2 points):
Explain a theoretical framework that supports early childhood cognitive development in a classroom environment.
Language and Cognitive Development (2 points):
Describe at least three ways language development impacts cognitive development using the theoretical framework you have identified.
Motor and Cognitive Development (2 points):
Describe at least three ways motor development impacts cognitive development using the theoretical framework you have identified.

Intervention Plan
Overview
Counseling is rooted in theory, ordered, short-term, and focused on personal, social, educational, and career concerns (Henderson & Thompson, 2016). Theory not only provides a framework for counseling, it offers perspectives and explanations on behaviors. Effective school counselors work with students to identify a problem and use theory to determine goals and identify behaviors that must be changed to meet those goals. Student cumulative files including counseling interventions, academic, attendance, and any discipline records are often reviewed prior to creating an intervention plan (Knapp & Jongsma, Jr., 2012). Successful intervention plans are tailored to each student’s strengths, areas for development, stressors, developmental level, culture, and peer and family networks.

Global Issues in the Liberal Arts
Research Paper Proposal
Name: _____Shannon Gutierrez_____ Date: __1/11/18_______________
1. What is the general topic you want to learn and write about? The general topic must be
an objective examination of a topic related to one of the four breadth areas and it must
have a global perspective or be of global significance.
Economics of global warming is the general topic for my research paper.
2. Identify which breadth area(s) the topic is related to and explain how the topic is related
to this breadth area (s), or how you can use the perspectives of this particular breadth area
(s) to examine the topic of your research within its global context.
This topic will fall within the science/description and social civic breadth area of liberal
arts. First, Social/Civic because the climate affects the entire world and the >>>> policy
on global warming requires that countries develop relationships to accomplish an overall
objective. Many Activist believe that science has proven global warming to be a real
ecological concern yet many countries and individuals in society choose not to
acknowledge global warming as fact.
The Science/Description breadth area because as mentioned one must believe in the facts
and evidence provided on the topic. Global warming and the study of its effects requires
an understanding of nature and the structure. Technological advances may provide many
solutions to the challenge, however, few countries have the financial means or education
to implement such solutions.
3. What is the purpose of the study? Why have you chosen this particular general topic?
Do you intend to educate or illuminate a particular group about your topic? Do you
intend that this group or person will change it's/his/her thinking or take action because of
your study?
The purpose of this study is to have a deeper understanding of global politics and how the
United States decision to leave the Paris Agreement will financially impact third world
countries.
4. What is your research question? You are not conducting field research (i.e., survey data,
interviews, primary source data). Research in this context means investigating a topic in
depth using credible sources.
Your research question guides what sources you select and read in depth. This is a
specific, clear, concise question you have about the topic that is grounded in facts that
can be discovered in the literature. Remember that the question should be intellectually
challenging and not be one that can be answered with a simple “yes,” “no,” or “maybe.”
Review your question for its clarity and scope. Will the question point you to specific
information on your topic? Will you be able to find enough information on the topic? Is it
so broad that you will get hundreds or thousands of articles on the topic? Could you write
approximately 8-10 pages that illuminate what scholars are writing about ...

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
