devices.
Transformer
A transformer is a device
that is used to either raise
or lower voltages and
currents in an electrical
circuit. In modern electrical
distribution systems,
transformers are used to
boost voltage levels so as
to decrease line losses
during transmission.

A Bridge rectifier is an
Alternating Current (AC)
to Direct Current (DC)
converter that rectifies
mains AC input to DC
output. Bridge Rectifiers
are widely used in power
supplies that provide
necessary DC voltage for
the electronic components
or devices.

Capacitor supplies the
charge as the rectified
voltage fails.
In the time it takes the
output voltage from the
bridge rectifier to drop
from its maximum to zero
and then rise back up
again, the capacitor does
not lose all its stored
charge.
Therefore the voltage
measured across it stays
near to the maximum
voltage.
