The policy outlines the failure to appear or "no-show" policy for tutoring appointments. Tutees are allowed two general no-shows before being considered for termination from the program. A first no-show results in a verbal warning, and a second results in probation and a meeting with the coordinator. Tutees are permitted two medical related no-shows in addition to the two general no-shows. New tutees requesting math or English tutoring must use the math lab or writing center for one week before Power Hour tutoring. Students must complete a study/test-taking skills session before tutoring.

2. Tutees must contact tutor or tutor coordinator at least one hour in advance of cancelling an appointment. Failure to provide appropriate notice will be counted as a failure to appear/no-show.

3. Tutees will be permitted two general no-shows before termination from the programmed is considered.

4. First failure to appear will necessitate a verbal warning from the tutor coordinator

5. Second failure to appear will result in tutee probation and a meeting with the tutor coordinator

6. Third failure to appear may result in termination from the program

7. Medical Related “No-Shows”

8. Tutees will be permitted two medical related no shows, not to include the two non-medical related no show allowances.

9. The tutor coordinator may request that the tutee provide proof of a valid medical related no show.

10. Other medical related no-shows beyond the two permitted will be considered by the tutor coordinator on a case-by-case basis.

11. Mandatory Math Lab/Writing Center Trial Period

12. First time tutees requesting math or English tutoring and tutees requesting upper level math or English tutoring will be required to use the Math Lab or Writing Center for a period of one week before receiving Power Hour tutoring.

13. Study/Test-taking Skills Requirement

14. Students who have not completed a study or test taking skills session with the study skills specialist are required to complete the required session before receiving Power Hour tutoring.
