This document analyzes trends in poverty in South Africa between 2006 and 2015 using various poverty measures. It finds that while progress has been made, poverty remains a significant problem, especially in rural areas and among female-headed households. The poverty headcount declined from 55.5% in 2006 to 53.7% in 2015 according to the upper-bound poverty line, with the largest decreases among children and the elderly. However, poverty rates vary substantially by province and location, with rural areas and the provinces of Limpopo, Eastern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal facing the greatest challenges in reducing poverty.

City of Asheville Housing Needs AssessmentGordon Smith
The focus of this analysis is to assess the market characteristics of, and to determine the housing needs for the city of Asheville, North Carolina. To accomplish this task, Bowen National Research evaluated various socio-economic characteristics, inventoried and analyzed the housing supply (rental and owner/for-sale product), conducted stakeholder interviews, evaluated special needs populations and provided housing gap estimates to help identify the housing needs of the city.
To provide a base of comparison, various metrics of Asheville were compared with overall four-county region that includes the counties of Buncombe, Henderson, Madison and Transylvania. A detailed comparison of the city of Asheville in relation with four subject counties is provided in the region analysis portion of the Asheville Overall Housing Needs Assessment.
This document discusses a study that aimed to assess the determinants of poverty in Mkinga District, Tanzania. The study found that nearly 93% of respondents in the area were poor. Using an ordinal regression model and data from 210 households, the study identified several factors associated with poverty in the area, including gender (with women more affected), smaller land size, smaller farm size, larger household size, and higher dependency ratio. The study recommends empowering people, especially women, to participate in economic activities using local resources to alleviate poverty in the district.
The fuel behind the American Economy has changed as Multicultural segments continue to drive the growth of overall U.S. employment while White Non-Hispanics drop off the labor rosters. In fact, over a third of the U.S. labor force is now Multicultural, but more importantly, the entire increase in U.S. employment rosters since 2007 pre-recession levels has been generated by Multicultural segments. And, the future gets even more dynamic when one considers that the labor force participation rate for White Non-Hispanics is the only whose decline has accelerated in the last 3 years while that among Hispanics and African Americans has stabilized. Why does this matter to marketers?
The US labor force is evolving to become more multicultural, as multicultural segments accounted for 84% of new job entrants and job growth between 2010-2015. The civilian labor force is now 35% multicultural, up from 31% in 2010, with the expansion coming solely from multicultural segments. Nine out of ten new job entrants in the first half of 2015 were from multicultural segments, with Hispanics representing 39% of overall US job growth. As a result, 84% of new incremental personal income came from multicultural workers, especially Hispanics who generated $37 billion. This shifting labor force means marketers should focus on targeting growing multicultural segments to find new opportunities.
The document summarizes research on the relationship between economic growth and poverty in Nigeria. It finds that while Nigeria's GDP per capita grew by nearly 70% from 1992-2009, the poverty rate only declined by 6% over this period. Several factors are hypothesized to influence this relationship, including high income inequality, Nigeria's reliance on the oil sector for growth, high unemployment, corruption, and poor education and health outcomes. The growth elasticity of poverty in Nigeria is found to vary widely depending on the time period studied, suggesting economic growth has not consistently led to reductions in poverty.
The document discusses the importance of health to business and the economy. It notes that a nation's health indicators reflect the state of its wealth and economy. Poor health leads to a less productive workforce and economic drain. The document then provides an overview of Nigeria's poor health indices and underfunding of the health sector compared to global standards. It also discusses the social determinants of health issues in Nigeria like poverty, cultural beliefs, and brain drain of health professionals.

Globalization and the adoption of liberal economic policies in India in 1991 led to rising industrial production and GDP growth. However, this "jobless growth" also resulted in decreasing employment levels. While the private sector saw some employment growth in agriculture and services, most industries experienced constant or declining employment. Additionally, employment in the public sector decreased substantially between 1991 and 2005. Overall, reforms have concentrated economic activity in the services sector and lower-employment industries, contributing to lower job creation despite increases in production and income.

The document summarizes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and Russian invasion of Ukraine on Latvia's labor market. It finds that while unemployment increased during the pandemic, government support programs prevented larger job losses. Unemployment has since declined and is now only slightly above pre-pandemic levels. Younger workers and those in sectors like hospitality were most affected by pandemic layoffs. The invasion of Ukraine has worsened economic forecasts for Latvia in 2022 and exacerbated pre-existing labor market challenges around demographic changes and skills shortages.
CIM Spring Marketing Conference 2015
From Segments to Fragments: Conflicting economic signals and their implications for marketers. Paul Flatters, Trajectory
Impact of globalisation on poverty, inequality and employmentAvi Vani
Globalization has impacted poverty, inequality, and employment in India. While it has led to some reduction in poverty, the decline has been insufficient and inequality remains high. Globalization contributed to increased productivity and wages, which helped reduce absolute poverty. However, rural-urban disparities in income persist. Employment in manufacturing and services has grown, but agriculture employment has declined slowly despite a decreasing share of agriculture in GDP. Unemployment rates have generally fallen but rural unemployment remains a concern, especially in agriculture. Overall, globalization's effects have been mixed, with both opportunities and challenges for reducing poverty and generating employment.
The impact of pandemics on labour market in Latvia Latvijas Banka
The document discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Latvia's labor market in three key points:
1) Overall, the impact has been limited so far, but it varies significantly by sector, occupation, and population group, with low-income workers most affected.
2) Without government support programs, unemployment would be almost double current rates.
3) Younger workers experienced more job losses, while employment in sectors like healthcare and education remained stable for older groups. Certain sectors like tourism saw sharp declines compared to increases in technology jobs.
This document discusses the demographic dividend, which is a one-time opportunity for rapid economic growth that stems from an increase in the working age population share. It notes that Sub-Saharan Africa's population is rapidly growing and aging, with the working age share projected to peak at 60% by 2075. However, countries are at different points in the transition. To realize the potential of the demographic dividend, governments need to invest in education, health, job growth, and good governance to strengthen social contracts and reduce inequality. Inaction could lead to increased poverty and social unrest from growing youth unemployment.
The How’s Life? report (http://oe.cd/how-is-life) charts the promises and pitfalls for people’s well-being in 35 OECD countries and 6 partner countries. It presents the latest evidence from 50 indicators, covering both current well-being outcomes and resources for future well-being, and including changes since 2005. During this period there have been signs of progress, but gains in some aspects of life have been offset by losses elsewhere. This fourth edition highlights the many faces of inequality, showing that gaps in people’s achievements and opportunities extend right across the different dimensions of well-being. It exposes divisions according to age, gender, and education, and reveals pockets of inequality in all OECD countries. It also brings to light the many well-being disadvantages that migrants face in adapting to life abroad. Additionally, the report examines governance as seen from the citizen’s perspective, revealing gaps between public institutions and the people they serve. Finally, it provides a country-by-country perspective, pinpointing strengths, challenges and changes in well-being over time in 41 country profiles.
How’s Life? is part of the OECD Better Life Initiative, which features a range of studies and analysis about people’s well-being and how to measure it, and includes the interactive Better Life Index website.
Since 2000, the quality of life of Colombians has improved markedly. Macroeconomic and social policies have sustained strong GDP growth and reduced poverty.

This document summarizes poverty trends in Bangladesh based on various government reports and studies. It finds that while poverty has declined overall in Bangladesh since the 1990s, about 31.5% of the population still lives below the poverty line. Poverty is higher in rural areas and divisions outside of Dhaka have higher poverty rates. Factors perpetuating poverty include food inflation, unequal growth, income inequality, lack of education, natural disasters, and reliance on traditional agriculture with low productivity. Reducing poverty further requires more equitable income growth through job creation and modernizing the agricultural sector.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
