 Once upon a time there was a horse without a
horn. A princess was riding on a horse in the sky.
She decided to take a break for ice cream. The
princess wanted to train the horse so she threw
the ice cream so he could catch it. The ice cream
landed on his forehead and it melted. It got stuck
on the horse permanently. The princess painted
it with white paint and it fit kind of well. From
that day on the horse became a unicorn. And
that’s how the unicorn got his horn.

 Once upon a time there lived a bat that had hiccups. A
furious old troll knocked as hard as he could and
broke his door down. The bat was surprised. “Hi Old
Troll!” said the bat. “Why did you break my door?” The
Troll said that he was sorry, that he didn’t realize that
would happen. The troll said that he came by because
he heard noises. The bat explained that the noises
where from his hiccups. The troll told the bat that he
could help him because he knew how to get rid of
hiccups. The bat was very happy. The troll told him
that if he wanted to get rid of his hiccups, he had to
hang upside down. The bat decided to try it and it
worked! He was so happy! From that day on, Bats
hang upside down because they always have hiccups!

 Once upon a time there was a group of dogs.
There was one very mean dog who always
bullied the other dogs. The dogs didn’t like it so
the dogs told him to stop but he wouldn’t stop.
For months and months he kept screaming at
them until he lost his voice. From that day on
dogs couldn’t speak anymore and could only
bark.

 Once upon a time there was a unicorn that
wanted ice cream. His friends decided to play a
trick on him. When he was sleeping, they came
quietly and carefully and they put glue that
never dries. The unicorn wanted ice cream
again, but guess what? There were no cones
left. So he went to the store and bought cones.
When he went to his car, it exploded on him and
that is how the unicorn got its horn.

 Once there was a lion who wanted to have
something special, that was different than all
the other animals. So he went off to find
something like leaves. He thought to himself,
what could I use to be different? He decided to
use straw. He asked people around him if they
knew where he could find some straw. They all
answered no. So he looked and looked until he
found straw. He took the straw and put the
straw around his face. That is how the lion got
his mane.

 Once upon a time there was a camel and he had
a flat back. One day a Leopard came and asked
him if he wanted to have a race and the camel
said ok. So they raced and the leopard hit the
camel and he flew passed the finish line. He hit
the rock and got a bump, and it stayed for a long
time. And that is how the camel got his hump.

 Once upon a time there was a butterfly that
had no colours. She was sad because she was
all gray. The fairy of the forest saw how sad
she was. She decided to give the butterfly all

 Once upon a time there was a beautiful fish and the fish
had beautiful skin. It was pink, orange, blue, green and
purple but that beautiful fish had no scales. All the fish
were making fun of her because she didn’t have scales.
The other fish were jealous at the same time because the
fish was the most colorful fish in the ocean and the most
beautiful fish in the ocean. One day the fish got caught in
seaweed. The seaweed was so colorful and beautiful like
the fish. The seaweed got stuck on the fish, dried up and
turned into scales. That made the other fish even more
jealous than they already were. And that’s how the fish
got its scales.

 Once upon a time there was a lady bug. She was not very nice.
She was also very lazy. One day she met a witch. The ladybug
asked,”Who are you and where did you come from?” The witch
answered,” If you don’t change your attitude, I will not give you
your spots”. The lady bug started to laugh and asked the witch
why she would do such a thing. The witch told her if she
continues with her attitude, her friends won’t like her. The lady
bug couldn’t understand why the witch was saying this to her.
She always thought she was nice. The witch told her that
sometimes in life, you don’t realize how you treat people. The
ladybug decided to change her attitude. And that is how the
ladybug got her spots.

 Once upon a time there was a witch, a mean witch, a
witch like any other old mean witch. She had warts on
her face, a black cat, a pointy black hat and a terrifying
broomstick. Her cat was not enough so she wanted
something magical like a horse. She waved a magic wand
and out came a mare. She wanted horns on it. She said
she did not want three horns, she did not want two
horns, she wanted one a magical horn! So the unicorn
had a magical horn. The unicorn did not like the witch so
she ran away. She came to the magic forest and she went
to see a fairy. The fairy said I will call you the unicorn.
And that is how unicorns came to be.

 Once there was a ladybug that was not like her friends.
Her friends had beautiful black spots but didn’t have any
spots on her back. One day she received a letter with an
invitation to a party at the Ladybug Park. The ladybug
was so happy because it was tomorrow. The next
morning at the party, everyone was dancing except the
ladybug. She wished she could get black spots like her
friends.” Too bad I don’t have black spots like my friends”
she said. But when she was dancing she stepped into
mud. So from then on, she had beautiful spots. Her
friends all yelled: ’hooray”! They were so happy for her,
they continued the party. And that is how the ladybug
got her spots.

 One day there was a ladybug that had no spots.
Then one day when the ladybug was having a walk a
lady who loved ladybugs found her and brought her
home. She named her Stella. One day after they had
breakfast the lady started to paint her house with a
red background and black spots. Then the lady had
an idea. She was going to paint the ladybug with
black spots since the ladybug was already red. Stella
loved having the black spots on her red back. From
that day on, ladybugs always had black spots.

 Once upon a time the jaguar was the king. The
jaguar had a daughter. The jaguar was dying so he
said before he died another king must rule the
kingdom. Every animal was excited. Jaguar said he
must be wise. Jaguar said whoever counts to ten will
be king. The elephant tried one, two, and three. The
tiger tried one, two, three, four but it fell to the
ground. The lion tried, two, four, six, eight and ten.
He became the king. The jaguar gave him his
daughter. The animals all cheered for the new
prince and they lived happily ever after. And that is
how the lion became king.

 Once upon a time there was a butterfly named Rosa.
One day Rosa was sad. Suddenly her friend
appeared and asked her why she was sad. She said
she was sad because no one liked her, because she
had no colors. Rosa’s friend told her that she likes
her. She told Rosa a way that she got her own colors.
She said that she found a magical fruit and when
she ate it, she got her colors. So Rosa went to look
for the magical fruit and she found it. That is how
butterflies got their colours.

 Once upon a time, there was a really nice elephant that had no
tusks and 2 holes in his cheeks. His friends kept making fun of
him. They even saw 20 ants go inside his cheeks. One day the
elephant went for a walk. He was crying because his friends kept
making fun of him. While he was walking, there was a sabre-
toothed tiger next to him. The sabre-toothed tiger didn’t realise
the elephant was next to him; because he was too busy crying.
The sabre-toothed killed 6 animals for dinner and was still very
hungry.
 He found a lion, and started to fight with the lion. The sabre-
toothed killed and ate the lion. The elephant saw this and was
very upset. The sabre-toothed tiger realized there was an
elephant and wanted to eat it. He started following the elephant
and they got into a fight. The elephant was so strong, he stepped
on the sabre-tooth’s mouth and took his front teeth and put
them into the two holes. And that is how the elephant got his
tusks.

 Once upon a time there was a town of animals. Every seven
years the animals got to the highest hill and pick their
accessories. All the animals raced up to the hill but Tehila the
turtle was so slow. When the turtle was half way there she saw
her friend the zebra. The zebra asked Tehila why she was still
only there, because all the accessories were almost gone. The
zebra was showing off her new black and white coat. Tehila
the turtle was hurrying to go up the hill. When she got there,
there were no accessories left. She looked everywhere to see if
she could find one but she didn’t find anything. So she went to
see her friend Bear to see if Bear could help her find an
accessory, but Bear had none. Tehila the turtle was so sad, she
was just wandering around the mountain when she got stuck
going under a rock. Then she realized that the rock was a
perfect fit! From that day on, turtles carry that rock all around.
That’s how the turtle got its shell.

 Once there was a giraffe that had a short neck. He
wanted to help the monkey get his banana on the
top of the tree. So the monkey suggested that he
should stretch the giraffe’s neck until it’s long
enough. The giraffe said,” Let’s do this thing!” So
the monkey sat on his back and they stretched. It
didn’t work because the giraffe was only a baby!
So they tried it on an adult giraffe. He stretched
and stretched and stretched until the monkey
reached the banana. And that is how the giraffe
got a long neck.

 Once upon a time there were dinosaurs and
they had very happy lives. Until one day, a
meteorite was going to hit the earth. The
dinosaurs were trying to get away, but it was
late. The meteorite was too close to the earth,
they didn’t have enough time to run. The
meteorite hit the earth and that is how
dinosaurs became instinct, but the earth
remained in the same spot as it was before.

 Once upon a time there was a dolphin, her name was
Rebeccah. She was pink with sparkles. Rebeccah was so
hungry she asked her mom when she can eat. Her mom
told her it was her turn to get food. So Rebeccah went to
look for three squids. Rebecca saw a squid and started to
chase the squid. The squid sprayed Rebeccah with pink
ink. She couldn`t see anything and bumped into a sticky
sea weed. She started to pull and pull, but couldn`t move.
Rebecca`s friend S.T. came and tried to help Rebeccah.
She pulled and pulled and was able to pull her out with
her teeth. Rebeccah was so happy, she jumped out of the
water and noticed the sea weed stuck on her back.
Rebecca`s skin took on a triangular shape. And that is
how the dolphin got its fin.

 Once there was a fish that didn’t have any
scales. One day she was swimming in the lake.
All of a sudden she got stuck in some beautifully
colored algae. She tried to get out but she
couldn’t. Along came a flying fish and pulled her
out of the algae. The algae dried up and became
scales. From that day on, fish have colourful
scales.

 Once upon a time a lion was hungry. He was
wandering around for years in the desert. He finally
found a forest. He went into the forest and saw a
lake. He drank from the lake but he was still very
hungry. Then he saw a nest of owls. He ate the baby
owls that were in the nest. The mother owl was very
angry so she attacked the lion and started picking at
the lion’s neck. She pulled and pulled until she had
pulled out a mane. And that is how the lion got his
mane.

 Once upon a time there was a cheetah, and he
was playing with his friends. All his friends had
spots except for him. Once there was this huge
lion and he said, “I see you want spots”. And he
said yes. So the lion took him to this huge lake.
He said to the cheetah, ‘’Drink this shiny water’’.
So the cheetah said o.k. He drank the water. The
cheetah started to have spots one by one. He
was so happy and everybody treated him better.
And that is how the cheetah got his spots.

 Once upon a time there was a turtle and the turtle did
not have a shell. The tortoise had a shell. The tortoise
was mean to the turtle. He said,” You do not have a shell
and I do’’. Every day he said that and even when he said
that the turtle had red cheeks like a red cherry. He was
crying like fire balls were coming out of his eyes. That
night he had baby turtles. There were 1958 turtles and
the turtles were exactly like the adult turtles. They had
no shells. The tortoise made fun of them all. The whale
was the king of the sea. He felt bad for the turtle so he
punished the tortoise so he can no longer breathe in the
water. He gave the turtle a shell as a gift to make him and
his babies happy. From that day on, turtles have shells.

 Once upon a time there was a bat and a monkey.
The monkey said to the bat, “Ha Ha ! I could hang
upside down on my tail and you can’t!” The bat got
really mad so he kept on trying and trying and one
day he got it. One day he saw the monkey and he
saw that the monkey had no tail. He said, “Ha Ha!
You can’t hang upside down because a leopard bit
off your tail”. All the other monkeys started to laugh.
Even the leopard that bit off his tail was there
laughing with the monkeys. So that is why bats can
hang upside down.

The lady bug started to laugh and asked the witch why she would do such a thing. The witch told her if she continues with her attitude, her friends won’t like her. The lady bug couldn’t understand why the witch was saying this to her. She always thought she was nice. The witch told her that sometimes in life, you don’t realize how you treat people. The ladybug decided to change her attitude. And that is how the ladybug got her spots.  By Hannah Cons

Her cat was not enough so she wanted something magical like a horse. She waved a magic wand and out came a mare. She wanted horns on it. She said she did not want three horns, she did not want two horns, she wanted one a magical horn! So the unicorn had a magical horn. The unicorn did not like the witch so she ran away. She came to the magic forest and she went to see a fairy. The fairy said I will call you the unicorn. And that is how unicorns came to be.  By Leah Rubin

One day the elephant went for a walk. He was crying because his friends kept making fun of him. While he was walking, there was a sabre- toothed tiger next to him. The sabre-toothed tiger didn’t realise the elephant was next to him; because he was too busy crying. The sabre-toothed killed 6 animals for dinner and was still very hungry.  He found a lion, and started to fight with the lion. The sabre- toothed killed and ate the lion. The elephant saw this and was very upset. The sabre-toothed tiger realized there was an elephant and wanted to eat it. He started following the elephant and they got into a fight. The elephant was so strong, he stepped on the sabre-tooth’s mouth and took his front teeth and put them into the two holes. And that is how the elephant got his tusks.  By Raphael Somech

All the animals raced up to the hill but Tehila the turtle was so slow. When the turtle was half way there she saw her friend the zebra. Tehila the turtle was hurrying to go up the hill. When she got there, there were no accessories left. She looked everywhere to see if she could find one but she didn’t find anything. So she went to see her friend Bear to see if Bear could help her find an accessory, but Bear had none.
