METAPHORS Metaphors are a ray of sunshine in your writing!
What is a  metaphor ? A metaphor is a lot like a simile! So what is the difference? Well, it still is still an expression that compares two things to show how they’re alike in some way … but—   Metaphors do NOT use  like  or  as  to compare!
What do metaphors look like? Many times metaphors say that one thing  is  another… EX: Her eyes are jewels sparkling in the sun.  EX: His teeth are white pearls.
What do metaphors look like? … Other times, metaphors compare things so that readers can imagine something a certain way or make a picture in their minds. EX: His room was a massive junk yard. EX: The classroom was a three-ring circus!
How ‘bout some more? The small boat was  a   b ouncy ball in the  c rashing ocean waves. My legs were rubber a fter walking all over  t he big city.  Life is a  rollercoaster!
Finally  –  why use them?! Metaphors bring your writing to life and let you be more creative! Metaphors make your readers picture things in different, new ways – or however you want them to imagine something!
