This document proposes introducing potato storage innovations in Uganda to stabilize market prices and supply. Potato production has increased but supply is inconsistent due to seasonal harvests. Farmers currently sell immediately after harvest when prices are low. The project aims to test household, association, and wholesale storage technologies to extend the shelf life of potatoes. This would allow farmers to store potatoes for 3-6 months until prices rise and supply is low. It is estimated that household storage could increase farmer profits by 32-44% by allowing storage for 2-3 months. The proposed storage innovations have been successfully piloted in other countries and could economically and socially benefit farmers, traders, and consumers in Uganda.
