Case Study: POS System on .NET for a Financial Services Company
Client
Headquartered in Montgomery, the client is a leading financial services company providing pawn, short-
term and installment loans, and also cash advances.
Challenges
The client was managing their operations manually that led to a number of issues like:
 Inefficient management of their financial services (pawn loans, cash advance, auditing, inventory
management, etc.)
 Limited scope for scalability of their operations
 Inefficient and tedious communication with their customers and high turnaround time to deliver
customer services
 No centralized system for managing data
 Integration with multiple locations was difficult and had multiple security concerns
 Unable to use POS devices due to legacy system (File Pro)
Solution
ISHIR’s domain subject matter experts recommended a POS system to be built on Microsoft.NET. The
team suggested .NET since security, scalability and an enhanced user experience were critical
parameters to the lient’s usiness requirement. Under the guidance of the project manager, the
technical team build a solution with the features that included:
 Comprehensive custom POS System developed on .NET Platform and Windows Phone devices for
over 70 stores
 Integration of the lient’s inventory, financial and reporting system
 Hardware integration for multiple locations (printer, barcode scanner, cheque scanner, etc.)
 Single repository for pledged item inventory and customer information
 Advanced search provision and complete inventory item reporting features
 Bar code labels to track inventory and prevent thefts

Results
After switching to .NET platform, the client experienced an improvement in the following areas:
 60% increase in operational efficiency
 40% decrease in turnaround time while responding to their customers
 50% overall cost reduction
 Increased control and transparency over inventory
 Reduced human errors with processes automation

Challenges The client was managing their operations manually that led to a number of issues like:  Inefficient management of their financial services (pawn loans, cash advance, auditing, inventory management, etc.)  Limited scope for scalability of their operations  Inefficient and tedious communication with their customers and high turnaround time to deliver customer services  No centralized system for managing data  Integration with multiple locations was difficult and had multiple security concerns  Unable to use POS devices due to legacy system (File Pro) Solution ISHIR’s domain subject matter experts recommended a POS system to be built on Microsoft.NET. The team suggested .NET since security, scalability and an enhanced user experience were critical parameters to the lient’s usiness requirement. Under the guidance of the project manager, the technical team build a solution with the features that included:  Comprehensive custom POS System developed on .NET Platform and Windows Phone devices for over 70 stores  Integration of the lient’s inventory, financial and reporting system  Hardware integration for multiple locations (printer, barcode scanner, cheque scanner, etc.)  Single repository for pledged item inventory and customer information  Advanced search provision and complete inventory item reporting features  Bar code labels to track inventory and prevent thefts
