PERSPECTIVE
Overall view from Kim Tian Road.
Since 2015 that I have been working as part of W Architects, I got the opportunity to
handle this 500 units condominium; Highline Residences, during the construction
phase.
Highline Residences is comprising of two 36-Storey Blocks, one 21-Storey Block and
four 4-Storey Blocks with Sky Terraces,Two Basement Carparks, Swimming Pool and
Communal Facilities. By 2018, this iconic development will mark the new skyscape of
the Tiong Bahru Estate, another heritage community of Singapore.
I found it quite challenged to this project not only collaborating with large group of
parties; from consultants and clients to contractors, suppliers and authorities, but also
implementing the solution and idea that could be complied with the site constraint,
whereas not to lost our very first design intention.
Currently this project is on the construction process
with the target completion by end of 2017.

At the beginning, the design process is started from listening to
each of the family members’ lifestyle to gather all of the specific
requirements. We studied and explored the space perception by
integrating all the requirements with the site and context to
present design alternatives. During design development and
working drawing phase, coordination with interior architect and
engineer is started in order to synchronize the conceptual
architectural design with interior space, material, construction
and also every single architectural detail design.

Since my first time’s watching “Lakorn Tapad”; Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of
Architecture’s school annual performance, when I was in high school, I hope for being
part of the team creating the set one day.
Finally in 2010, I got a chance to join the team being one of the art director and set
designer of the performance that year, The Snow White. I participated from the art
directing; to distinguish and exemplify the reality from the fantasy of the Disney’s
original version, designing the set down to constructing it to the final as Lakorn Tapad.
