4. Living on the water – In hardly another city of the world, the river is of similar importance for the historic identity and urban live like the Nile for
Cairo. Water as a living space, in the form of houseboats or public terraces in the water are so far been limited in the city on a few central zones.
Vast urban districts along the Nile are without direct pedestrian access or architectural orientation towards the water. New building typologies
along the river banks or directly built on the water combined with public spaces of high quality can connect the city with the Nile and create a spe-
cial quality for living, expressing an individual lifestyle with a particular way of life with a tense relationship of buildings and water. Susaitability
is one of the most important essentials of a futuristic buildings which helps is economic on the long term easier for living and offers flexibility.

The North side of the building is pushed to the inside to
allow passage of wind to the centre of the building.
The extension of the building outwards as it goes one
storey higher to give the feeling being hung above water.

In the furthest back plot of the RAW-Gelände, there are many
large flexible spaces both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor
spaces are utilized for big events like markets and carnivals
and the interior spaces for the sale of furniture from the Wollen
Möbel Kaufen?! furniture company. From our analysis of this
area of the site we chose to interpret its vital elements into a
verticalized extension of the proposed boulevard. Similar to the
streets that wind through the RAW Galende the circulation of
the tower leads visitors from the horizontal boulevard up to a
series of vertial plazas that create public spaces and transition
zones for the buildings various programs. The main program
will contain showrooms and offices for Wollen Möbel Kaufen?!
for the company to be able to further expand their business.
Other programs include a large market space, large storage
spaces, stores, ateliers, gallery spaces, music practice spaces,
a restaurant and bar, and additional co-working office spaces.
These various programs add a diverse mix of uses that provide
interesting and beneficial relations to one another between levels.
The Terracescraper is located directly on top of the RAW
boulevard. Its position at the end of it creates a clearly visible
destination. Its structure acts as a generic infrastructure with
floors spanning the entire 14 meters ofthe boulevard. This creates
long floorplans allowing flexible arrangements of spaces. At
the end of the building is a structural backbone consisting of a
circulation, service and storage core. The towers form terraces
down towards the rest of the site providing a very open public
circulation inviting people up to the various programs that inhabit
its structure. This celebration of access is imperative due to its
position tucked away at the back end of the site and because
it is a 15 minute walk from the nearest public transportation
hubs of the Warschauer Strasse and Ostkreuz Bahnhof.

Usually in a city, intersections are the most
vibrant parts of any neighbourhood. They’re
mostly used to build landmarks and act as
gathering points where people find them an
easy place to meet. Our aim is to create spac-
es where people can meet either intentional-
ly or by coincidence by making intersections
and mixing the uses of the different programs
in the building.At first we the people intersect
in a central area, which was reflected on the
C shape of the building, which is designed to
provide a squared area within the Tempfelhof
Center and the current Rathaus. By creat-
ing these intersections we could make peo-
ple from different programs of the building
meet, whereas the building offers various and
contradicting programs like Library, Music
school, Adult center and Art center, it was
important to make them ineract and have
a shared space to in order to feel that they
are a part of a huge community and not
feel abandoned in their program area. The
Intersection were also made to guide the
user by revealing what kind of programs
the building offers by having a transpar-
ent interior layer and to also act as the
main circulation of the building. The build-
ing is composed of 5 intersecting blocks,
each is for a certain program and by in-
tersecting these blocks we would save the
space shared by the intersecting blocks.

31. Plastic pollution made from commercial areas is a big problem that
we observed and documented. Uniqlo's stores in Berlin alone are
producing approximately 235kg of plastic packaging every working
day. Also Germans are using around 6 billion plastic bags annually.
This is why we want to connect this problem to the housing crisis
in Germany's capital, designing buildings that are sustainable and
affordable for the citizens. For this aim we designed a building kit,
that is fully manufactured out of plastics.
Our circle economy works like this: the commercial plastic waste
is being collected in big shopping areas and transported directly
to the building site. After that it is sorted and shredded. Then it
is hot compressed into a mold. The product is after that stored
for a short period of time or directly assembled on the site.
Thedesignofthebuildingkitisbasedonasimplegrid.Itcanbeapplied
to many different sites in Berlin. The columns, beams and joints are
designed in a flexible way, so different forms and combinations are
possible according to the grid. Because plastic is easily melted and
moldedtherearemanypossibilitiestocombinethebuildingelements,
like walls, with functional elements - for example like sofas, chairs
or tables. Because of the good insolation qualities that plastics
have, additional insolation is not required. For the infrastructure in
the building there are special openings in the columns and the walls.
