This document discusses developing a custom polling importer to ingest external content into AEM. It describes adding a new importer scheme for a Jira feed, implementing an OSGi bundle to define the importer as a service, and processing the Jira XML results by applying calculations and removing unnecessary elements using an XSLT stylesheet. The full implementation allows polling a Jira instance on a scheduled basis and importing the results into AEM.
