DSP Anime is a procedural sound effect generator for games and animations. It uses different synthesis techniques to create sound effects and many random variations automatically. For example, the "impact" sound model alone can generate up to 5 million of different impacts sounds with various materials, sizes and resonances. This presentation shows how DSP Anime can easily export the sounds it generates to Unity, adding all the assets to the project automatically, creating meta files with the right settings and even writing JavaScript or C# scripts. DSP Anime also exports towards the latest versions of Wwise, FMOD Studio, ADX2 & ADX2 LE, and GameMaker: Studio. All events, cues, containers, banks etc… can be created automatically.

See'n'Sound LE is the standalone version of the famous digital video motion capture to 3D audio system composed by See'n'Sound and X-spat boX. The See’n’Sound LE Ghost Window™, when placed on QuickTime movies, lets you extract 3D movements from 2D images for up to eight subjects. See’n’Sound LE applies those movements to the audio coming from Core Audio hard&software using the Open AL engine of your Macintosh. Use the bounce to disk option to master your soundscape in several different file formats. See’n’Sound LE is a simple and fast way to capture the audio movements and positions directly from the images. See’n’Sound LE mixes the depth of sound and the effect of elevation typical of 3D audio with the usual 2D panning, bringing your work in surround to a level of quality level never before achieved.

18/03/2010 - FTS seminar series @ Cardiff Univesity, Computer Science. Pete Woznowski and Rich Coombs one hour presentation on Arduino. Some info on Arduino and the talk: Arduino is a hardware and software platform for developing electronic devices and applications, aimed at being fun and accessible to everyone. Think Lego Mindstorms, but aimed intentionally at adults (rather than aimed at children and incidentally used by adults :)). The scope and potential for Arduino is huge. It has been used to develop simple applications like pedometers and networked environmental sensors, to art exhibits and remote controlled vehicles. The talk aims to give an overview of the Arduino platform and a brief introduction to designing and programming Arduino applications, along with some demonstrations.

Getting Started with iBeacons (Designers of Things 2014)

iBeacon is a system for device-to-device communication based on Bluetooth Low Energy. Applications running on phones, computers, or other types of device can detect and respond to the presence of nearby iBeacons. This technology opens the doors for new and creative interactions between networked objects like wearables and the surrounding environment. In this session we'll explore the potential of iBeacons by building an iBeacon detection device from scratch and using it to interact with a set of iBeacon nodes from Estimote. <em>"Daddy, daddy, how does a computer work?"</em> We're used to say that curiosity is a bad habit but it is nonetheless one of the greatest strenghts of kids: they are eager to learn. Learn how a computer works, how one can build an application for a phone or a tablet, how one can create a video game. The best answer is probably to give them the tools to discover by themselves the answer to those questions. Eclipse is used by hundreds of thousands of adults for programming activies, so why not by kids? How to turn Eclipse into a programming environment for kids? This talk will present our approach and thoughts to simplify the Eclipse user interface for usage by kids. We will show how we created, thanks to <a>Sirius</a>, an easy-to-use and natural graphical tool to let kids discover programming. A demonstration will present a prototype of a development environment that allows to program an Arduino using a simple and graphical block-based language.

http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024 Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error. Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials. This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
