This document describes a standard test method for measuring the initial tear resistance of plastic films and sheeting. It involves cutting test specimens to specific dimensions and clamping them in grips that separate at a rate of 51 mm/min until tearing is initiated. The maximum force required to initiate tearing is recorded as the tear resistance value. At least 10 specimens must be tested for isotropic materials and 20 for anisotropic materials, with half tested parallel and half perpendicular to the orientation direction. The test provides comparative tear resistance values but may not correlate directly with actual performance. Values are expressed in newtons or pounds-force and are only comparable for specimens within 10% thickness variation.

Standardized testing showed C-Bond I increased the average flexural strength of glass by over 80% and increased the average adhesion strength of glass film by 50% compared to untreated glass. Over 1000 samples were tested, showing C-Bond I consistently improved glass properties for strengthened and increased the displacement of glass in flexural testing. The failure mode of glass treated with C-Bond I more closely resembled tempered glass than untreated glass.

This document summarizes an experiment that tested the time-dependent deformation properties of polymers through creep testing and impact testing. Creep testing of a Silly Putty sample found that its strain rate increased over time under a constant load as its cross-sectional area decreased. Impact testing showed that an unnotched HDPE sample absorbed nearly all impact energy without breaking, while an unnotched PMMA sample broke after absorbing less than half the energy. The experiment demonstrated methods for determining a polymer's resistance to time-dependent deformation and impact forces.

90 Degree Adhesive Peel Strength Test on a Tensile Testing Machine
This document shows a 90 degree adhesive peel strength test on a Labthink XLW (PC) Auto Tensile Tester. We fit the XLW(PC) with our 90 degree peel strength fixture and one vise grip on the bottom crosshead to hold the free end of the tape. The fixture has numerous tapped holes that allow you to clamp a multitude of various parts and substrates to the test bed. This test measures the maximum load and also the average load of adhesive tape bonded to a Polystyrene foam substrate.

It can also test the peel strength and tensile properties of adhesives, tapes, and other flexible materials. - 1. www.labthinkinternatio nal.com i-Thermotek 2500 Hot Tack Tester--Film Test Scope i-Thermotek 2500 Hot Tack Tester is applicable to the determination of hot tack and heat seal performance for plastic films, composite films and other packaging materials as well as peel and tensile tests for adhesive, adhesive tapes, composite films, plastic films, paper and other flexible materials. Test Procedures A: Prepare test specimen according to specific standards. The test specimen should be of uniform thickness and should be free of wrinkles, creases or other visible imperfections. Use sample cutter (width is 15mm, 25mm or 25.4mm) to cut specimens measuring about 350-400mm long. B: Adjust the sample grips and mount the specimen.
