Plasma membrane is outer covering of each cell.
Plasma membrane is also called cell membrane.
Plasma membrane is made up of lipids and
proteins. The fundamental structure of the
membrane is the phospholipid bilayer.
 Protective: Forms outer most boundary of the
cells.
 Digestive : Takes in food and execrates waste
products.
 Selectively Permeability : Helps in transport
across the membrane.
 Cell adhesion molecules ( adherins )present
on the plasma membrane of cells plays an
important role in the process of inflammation.
 Junction : Helps in formation of various
type of junction along with the help of
cytoskeleton.
