1. Digital Graphic Narrative Planning
Use this booklet to help structure your planning and collate your planning documents.
Considerations:
There are lots of things to consider in this project. Fill out each section in detail to show you have thought about each one. You
should imagine that this is a live project, so considerations like cost, quantity and codes of practice must be thought about in that
context rather than just as a college project.
Costs:
The cost to produce my book would be low because the story is short and simple. To print the pages
it will cost £1.32. To put it together it will cost an extra 8p. the over all cost to this will be £1.40.
Available resources:
The resources I have at college are Photoshop and a printer. Photoshop helps me produce my book
and the printer helps me print my book.

2. Quantity:
I will start by printing 20 copies and I will issue them to friends and I will let them decided whether I
should print off more and sell them. Once I have done this I will print off 100+ copies and issue them
to WHSmiths and other book retailers. If this is successful I will sell my books worldwide.
Audience and Target Market:
My audience will be 4-7 years. It will also be unisex (for girls and boys) I will be selling my books to
anyone and I will be selling them online. I chose 4-7 years because I feel as if this is the best age as
toddlers have aged a bit and can understand more. Also when children age to 8 and on wards children
start to read more advance things, so this will start to be to young for them.
Quality Factors:
I will keep the quality by keeping the same style on all my characters, the same font, font size and the
same quality. I will keep the same quality of characters by creating them on a spate Photoshop
document so I can reuse the exact same character model on other backgrounds.
Codes of Practice:
The publishers association code of practise cover how should interact with authors. It covers a varitly
of economical issues that do not relate to this project.

3. Regulation
Any book falling under the definition a toy will have to be compliant with new toy directive 2009/48/EC
if sold on the European market. The obscene publications Act 1959 and the Equality Act 2010 may
also apply depending on the content of your work.
Copyright:
The present UK copyright law is the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.It supplies the
makers of literary, musical, dramatic and artistic works the right to control the ways in which
their material may be used
Ethical Issues:
Ethical issues include things like racism or discrimination. My book does not contain any ethical
issues, as it is a very light-hearted children’s book.

4. Resources:
A successful project relies on good planning. Considering all the resources you will need for a project and then assessing which
you already have and which you need will help ensure you are ready to start your project.
If there is a resource you don’t currently have, then consider how you are going to get it before you go in to production.

5. Production Schedule:
Delivering your project on time is vital. In order to do this, you need a solid plan of action. This will help you divide up your work in
to manageable chunks to be tackled one at a time. It will also allow you to plan which tasks need to be done in which order. It will
also allow you to track your progress each day. If you are falling behind, you will need to modify the way you work. If you work
faster than expected, you can clearly see what the next steps you need to take are.

Health and safety:
Your health and safety and that of those around you is very important. Just like in industry, an accident could prevent you from
working. Whilst we don’t work in a highly dangerous environment, there are still risks. Some are short term, such as trips and
spillages whilst others, such as long term damage to eyesight or back problems, may affect you much later in life.

11. Consider the risks based on the activities you will be undertaking during the project. Explain how you could prevent them from
happening.
Ensure you reference appropriate pieces of legislation, design to protect people at work.
