Plants are essential to humans in many ways. They produce oxygen through photosynthesis, and are the ultimate source of food and energy for nearly all animals. Plants provide humans with not only food, but also shelter, clothing, medicines, fuels, and raw materials to make many other products like textiles, paper, plastics and medicines. Plants are also important parts of ecosystems, providing energy, absorbing minerals from soil, and modifying the environment through shade, erosion control and beautification.
