This document presents a diagram of variables that influence second language learning. It identifies five main variables: 1) Teaching, which includes teacher profile, materials, methodology, and instruction. 2) Learner, such as intelligence, aptitude, attitude, motivation, personality, and age. 3) Context, whether the language is learned in an EFL or ESL environment. 4) Learning, including unconscious and conscious processes during intake, assimilation, and input. 5) Outcome, such as proficiency level, language performance, errors, reactions, multilingualism, and cultural awareness. The diagram indicates that second language learning depends most significantly on teaching, learner, and context.
