3. SYMPTOMS:
Complete rotting of the central portion of the stem.
Fruit development is arrested and spongy texture.
The top leaves turn brown and basal portion of leaves
show sign of rotting with foul odour.
All stages are attacked, but 3-4 months old crown are
more susceptible.
6. PATHOGEN CHARACTERS:
Mycelium is coenocytic, aseptate, hyaline and
profusely branched.
Lives in soil and in plant tissues, can take different
shapes and can move in water.

9. MODE OF SPREAD:
Primary spread is through chlamydospores and

SURVIVAL:
Soil and in plant tissues.
11. INTEGRATED DISEASE MANAGEMENT:
Maintain good soil drainage .
Soil should not be allowed to enter the hearts during
planting.
Remove diseased plants and burnt.
Application of Bordeaux Mixture- 1%
