The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.

Gone are the days of traditional endoscopic procedures that
require uncomfortable and sometimes risky interventions.
The PillCam, also known as a capsule endoscope, offers a
minimally invasive alternative, allowing medical professionals to
visualize the inner workings of the gastrointestinal tract without
the need for surgical incisions.
This remarkable innovation has the potential to transform the
diagnostic landscape, offering a safer, more patient-friendly
approach to understanding the intricacies of our bodies.
3. PURPOSE OF PILL CAMERA
Capsule endoscopy is used to examine parts of the GI tract that cannot be
seen with other types of endoscopy.
The disposable capsule, often referred to as a "pill-cam," is roughly the
size of a large vitamin tablet, allowing it to navigate your GI tract better
than a scope.
Within the self-contained unit is a miniaturized video camera programmed to
take between two and 18 images per second, which then ultimately get
transmitted to sensor equipment Also housed within the unit is one or several
tiny LED lights, a radio transmitter, and an eight-hour power source.
This test is typically used when a disease is suspected in the small
intestine or to pinpoint the location of bleeding, inflammation, or damage.
4. ENDOSCOPY
Endoscopy involves the use of a slender, flexible tube
equipped with a high-resolution camera and light source.
This instrument, known as an endoscope, is inserted into the
body through natural openings or small incisions, enabling
real-time visualization of the body's internal structures.
Whether exploring the depths of the digestive tract, delving
into the respiratory system, or peering within joints,
endoscopy provides a window into regions that were once
shrouded in mystery.
9. ADVANTAGES
1. Early Detection: The real-time imagery provided by the PillCam allows for the early detection of various
gastrointestinal conditions, such as ulcers, bleeding, polyps, and even early-stage cancers. Early detection often
leads to more successful treatment outcomes.
2. Patient Comfort: The PillCam's simplicity and lack of invasiveness contribute to a higher level of patient comfort.
There's no need for sedation, and patients can go about their daily routines during the imaging process.
3. Reduced Risks: Since the PillCam avoids the need for sedation and anesthesia, it inherently reduces the associated
risks and complications. It also eliminates the potential discomfort and risks of traditional endoscopic procedures.
4. Shorter Recovery Time: With no need for recovery from anesthesia or surgical incisions, patients who undergo
PillCam imaging experience shorter recovery times compared to those who undergo traditional endoscopy.

10. DISADVANTAGES
Cost: Capsule endoscopy procedures, including the cost of the PillCam device itself, might be more
expensive compared to certain traditional endoscopic procedures. This could limit accessibility for some
patients or healthcare systems.
Unsuitable for Certain Conditions: The PillCam might not be suitable for individuals with certain
medical conditions, such as severe gastrointestinal obstructions or swallowing difficulties, which could
limit its applicability in certain cases.
Radiation Exposure: In some cases, patients might need an abdominal X-ray to confirm that the
PillCam has passed through their system. While the radiation exposure from this is usually minimal, it's
