This document describes a piezo-electric shoe that generates electricity from the kinetic energy of walking to charge an internal battery. Piezoelectric crystals produce voltage when pressure is applied, and placing these crystals in the shoe's insole harness the energy from each step. The battery stores the accumulated charge to power small electronics without needing plugs or cables. While a prototype generated only small amounts of power, future designs may improve efficiency by an order of magnitude, making piezo-electric shoes a practical way to scavenge renewable energy from normal walking.
