The picture that I chose to write my essay on was the picture of the police dogs attacking the
black people on the street. The first time I saw this picture it made me feel like there was a time
in history when we were doing something wrong. We were hurting people and making police
dogs attack them because of the color of their skin. I didn’t know what was going on though
from the picture for example like were the people protesting or what was happening. The picture
is an older picture you can tell this by how the picture is still in black and white. The time period
on which this photo was taken was the time period where black people were always wrong and
nothing that they did was right. This was also the time period where black people had to go to
different bathrooms because they couldn’t use the white man’s bathroom. You might also by the
photo determine since it is in the era that it is in that the picture might have been taken to favor
the white people because black people were always doing something wrong. The dimensions of
the picture was a larger photograph because you see everything around and in the surrounding
background. The picture might how ever be cropped though because it is cutting on the left and
right sides so somebody might have cropped the photo to leave something out. The object in the
picture is the black man and you see that there are black people standing on the sides of the street
watching this black man be attacked by the police dogs. You can also see white police officers
walking down the middle or the sides of the street with police dogs that look to be in attack mode
or ready to attack at command. It is a much crowed area so I would say that they are some kind
of protest for something that is going on or they might be at a Martin Luther King Jr Rally event
that the police is breaking up. The lighting in this picture is natural lighting you can tell this by
the way the sun is showing you can also see shadows and the shadows in the tree lines. I think
the lighting does show some ways how the white man is on the black man because with the way
the lighting is you know for sure who is white and who is black. You also know who is getting

attacked and who isn’t. You can also clearly see that they are in a road because you can see the
platform that the people are standing on is a curb and you see the lines in the middle of the street.
I think this picture does a good job capturing how people were treated during this time period
and it also serves as a reminder that we don’t need to go back to something like this.
