An electric circuit is a closed loop that allows electric current to flow from a power source, such as a battery, through conducting materials, like wires, to an electrical device and back to the power source. The key components of a circuit are a power source, conducting wires or strips, a device to use the current like a light bulb, and a switch to open or close the circuit. When a switch in a flashlight circuit is closed, current can flow from the battery through the conducting strips to the light bulb, causing it to glow, before returning to complete the circuit.
