Circuit & Switch
• Circuit is path through which electricity can flow.
• We use electrical circuits everyday in all of our
electrical appliances such as electric kettle and
microwave ovens.
The main parts of a
circuit:
1. Electric Cell: cells with voltage of 1.5V or 3V are safe to use.
2. Wire: wire is made from metal because it’s a conductor in a circuit.
3. Lamp: lamp will light up when the circuit is complete
4. Lamp holder: a device in a circuit for holding lamp in place.
5. Switch: switch turns the electric current ON or OFF.
1. Cell
2. Wire
3. Lamp
4. Lamp holder
5. Switch
• Some electric circuits are
natural like Lightning.
• Some electric circuits are man-
made like car battery.
Switch
• Switch is a device for closing or opening a
circuit.
• Switch turns the electric current ON or OFF.
When the switch is ON:
The circuit path is complete (closed).
Closed circuits = Electricity flow
When the switch is off: the circuit path is broken
(opened).
Open circuit = NO Flow
