Photosynthesis is the process by which plants produce food from carbon dioxide, water and sunlight. During photosynthesis in the chloroplasts, carbon dioxide and water are converted into glucose and oxygen using energy from sunlight. The chemical equation for photosynthesis is: 6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2, which shows that carbon dioxide and water are converted into glucose and oxygen.
