Samantha created a photo composition for a class assignment on bones. She found a stock image of a "Bone Man" and removed the background using selection tools. She enhanced the bone by increasing brightness and contrast and added a plastic wrap filter for a 3D effect. She also edited a gym background photo by increasing contrast and applying the same plastic wrap filter. She combined the Bone Man and gym images by placing the Bone Man on a second layer over the background. To further the illusion that the Bone Man was floating, Samantha drew and blended a shadow underneath using grayscale colors. Feeling the image was missing something, she found and edited an image of the word "bones" spelled out in bone font, which she added

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Photoshop Assignment Narrative
My unit will be on bones, so the first idea I thought of was a “Bone Man” photo. I found
a several pictures that I liked and knew I could make them work. For all of my pictures I had to
edit the image size by increasing the pixels. I started with the picture of the “Bone Man”. First I
unlocked the layer, and then I began erasing the background using the background eraser tool.
Once I got the majority of the background erased I used the magic eraser to finish the job. I then
enhanced the bone by increasing the brightness and contrast of it. Finally, I used filter gallery
and selected the plastic wrap feature to give it a more realistic 3D look.
My second picture was the gym background image. I enhanced the basics, increasing the
contrast, brightness and used the levels selection to get a better tone. I then selected the filter
gallery and stuck with the same filter I used on the bone, plastic wrap. When I was finished
editing it, I drug Bone Man over and added it as a second layer to the gym photo, using the gym
setting as my background.
I then decided to add a shadow under my Bone Man to make it appear as if he was
floating. I used gray scale colors such as light gray, dark gray, and black with the paintbrush. I
carefully freehand drew a shadow under the bone using all three colors. I then blended them
together using the blend tool and I finished up with the smudge tool to make it look more natural.
At that point I thought I was finished but felt like the image was missing something. It
needed words, like a caption. So I found the image of the word “bones” spelled out in a bone
2. font and knew that would fit perfectly. I used the magic eraser to touch up the individual word
and once again brightened the letters with exposure, brightness, and contrast. I then copied it to a
third layer to combine it with my other image. I played around with it in different locations but
decided the top left was the best design.
