Hard light creates shadows and depth while soft light provides a bright yet diffuse look. The rule of thirds divides an image into nine squares to place subjects at intersecting lines for balance. Lines and triangles create perspective and balance in photographs. Portraits capture someone's true nature, while an odd number of objects or pairing objects makes images more interesting. Negative space and looking into space creates drama, while too much detail lacks focus. Symmetry aligns objects uniformly rather than varying levels. Depth of field controls what is in or out of focus through lens selection. Images can be manipulated in Photoshop through adjustments like black and white, contrast, and brightness.

2. Hard and Soft Light
Hard light helps the photo look more
dramatic. The light is coming from one
direction which gives the image
shadows, this gives the photo more of a
3D effect.
Soft light doesn't’t create shadows in the
photo. The source of light in this image
is coming from natural light. The
quantity of the light gives off a fairly
bright yet soft and gentle look due to
the light being diffused.

3. Rules Of Third
The rules of third is a guideline which
allows you take a dramatic picture using a
few lines. It divides the image into nine
different squares. If you place the
interesting points of your shot at the
points where the lines cross or along the
lines themselves, your photo becomes
more balanced.

4. Triangles And Lines
Lines in photographs give
the image great perspective.
Especially if the lines join
up at a point at the end of
the photograph.
Including lines with space
and perspective gives a nice
effect and creates a
balanced photograph.
Photos arranged into triangles
help keep the photo balanced
and interesting. Triangles are
solid looking and give the
best composition.
The rule of triangles works
best in portraits giving the
photograph the best balance.

5. Portrait Photography
I like portraits because
they capture the true
nature of someone. When
they don’t know the
photograph is being
taken it gives a nice
natural effect to the
photograph.

6. Even And Odds
Rule of even and odds
states that having an odd
number of objects in an
image will be more
interesting. Organizing
objects into pairs therefore
makes the picture more
interesting.

7. Rule Of Space
The use of negative space can be dramatic.
Filling less of the frame with the subject gives
more space. Sometimes the subject can be
looking into the space like this photograph.
Filling a photo with too much detail and
filling the frame with a small about of space
can make the photograph become confusing
and lack detail.
'Looking into space' is an effective way to
create negative space.

8. Symmetry
Symmetry uses the
same alignment of
objects rather than
varying the levels.
Symmetry is the
opposite of rule of
triangles. These
photography show the
same objects e.g 2
people , 2feet.

9.  Depth of field is the amount of focus in a image.
 large depth of field is where everything is in focus and
nothing is blurred out.
 Shallow depth of field is used to only focus on one part of
a image. It makes the image more interesting to look at
and more sharp.
Depth Of Field
Depth of field is controlled by
photographers with the lens they
typically use to control whether they
want the whole image to be in focus
or part of the image in focus. I.E
shallow and large depth of field.
Lens F22 is where the whole
photograph is in focus.
Lens F1.8 is used when the
photograph has a shallow depth of
field with one part of the image in
focus.

10. Image Manipulation
This image was manipulated on
photoshop, I used the black and
white tool to create this effect. I
chose the strong white effect to
bring out the lighter details in the
photo.
This image to the right was also
edited on photoshop. For this one
I messed around with the contrast
and brightness to make this over
exposed photo.
