Task 3 Selection of final images & review

PHOTO SHOOT REVIEW
KEN ISHII
Aim of Shoot
The media group took a trip to Salford Quays to
capture images of the surrounding of Salford
Quays. With the images I have captured, I am
going to create a poster for Salford Quays.
I would be taking images of the different buildings
around Salford Quays using the rules of
photography which are Symmetry, Rule of
Third, Framing, Leading Lines, Balancing
Elements, Depth of Field and Patterns.
Description of shoot
The shoot took place at Salford Quays. I had
planned to take different architecture of the
building around Salford Quays. I used a
manual setting on my camera to get the
images I would of used for my poster
experimenting with changing shutter speed,
Aperture and ISO.

The shoot went well as I had various images
of different building, bridges and hidden
places in Salford Quays that not many people
know about. I had taken plenty of images as I
had a camera to myself which resulted in
many images to choose from when it come to
editing.
Final Images
I chose the image of the “Big Red” bridge as one of my final
images. This is because how the blue triangle arches were
symmetrical and as I used a high speed shutter I managed to
capture someone throwing stones in the canal.

In this image I have used leading lines on the bridge.
Editing Effects


The first thing I did when I started editing the original
image was the use of the RGB colour curves to change
the level of each colour with the result having a blue
tint.
Final Images
When I had edited my final images they were as
I had expected them to be. I used selective
coluring and adding a soft focus effect for the
top image. I really liked this image as the
different colours create a similar result of
balancing elements. I also changed the colour of
the water to a more blue colour.
Capture Log
 Setting – Manual
 Aperture – 4.7

 ISO – 100
 White Balance - Auto
Rejected Images


After looking through the images I
have captured, there was a few that I
didn’t were suitable for a poster.



I have inserted images of the pictures
I didn’t like as some didn’t stick to any
of the rules, the white balance wasn’t
quite right and some are out of focus.
What went well


I think that my shoot went well overall as I had taken a reasonable amount of images to
pick from. But if I did the shoot again, I would of like a tripod instead of using things to rest
my camera on. But for my poster, I had a good selection to pick from.
