Pre-Spanish Period 
Education was informal, unstructured, and 
devoid of methods. Children were provided 
more vocational training and less 
academics (3Rs) by their parents and in 
the houses of tribal tutors.
SPANISH PERIOD 
Education during that period 
was inadequate, suppressed 
and controlled.

PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE 
The educational philosophy was in accordance 
with the provisions of Article XIV Section 5 of the 
1935 Constitution which provides that: All 
educational institutions shall be under the 
supervision and subject to the regulation by the 
State. The government shall establish and 
maintain a complete and adequate system of 
public education, and shall provide at least free 
primary instruction and citizenship training to 
adult citizens

PROCLAMATION OF 
MARTIAL LAW 
As far as education is concern, the Marcos 
Constitution of 1973, Article XV Section 8 
states that: All educational Institution shall be 
under the supervision and subject to the 
regulation by the State. The State shall 
establish and maintain a complete, adequate 
and integrated system of education relevant to 
the goals of national development. All 
institutions shall aim to include love for 
country, teach the duties of citizenship, and 
develop moral character, personal discipline 
and scientific and technological and 
vocational efficiency
AQUINO ADMINISTATION. 
“EDSA People Power Revolution” on February 22- 
23, 1986 1987 Constitution which provide the 
present philosophy of education in the Philippines 
as stated in Article XIV, Section 3 (2) thus: All 
educational institution shall include patriotism and 
nationalism, foster love of humanity, respect for 
human rights appreciation of the role of national 
heroes in the historical development of the 
country,
THE RAMOS ADMINISTRATION 
ONWARDS 
President Ramos stressed that the delivery of 
quality education to all the people as mandated 
by the Constitution is the chief means to 
empower the masses. In another state of the 
nation address the President emphasized his 
educational platform, summarized in these 
statements: “If we are to develop, we must invest 
in our people…

OF EDUCATION 
Curriculum Aims, Goals and objectives Based on 
the Philippine Constitution of 1987, all associate 
shall aim to: 
1. Inculcate patriotism and nationalism 
2. Foster love of humanity 
3. Promote respect for human rights 
4. Appreciate the role of national heroes in the 
historical development of the country 
5. Teach the right and duties of citizenship
GOALS AND OBJECTIVE 
OF EDUCATION

6. Strengthen ethical and spiritual values

Aims of Elementary Education 
(Education Act of 1982) in the elementary 
level, schools through their curricula should 
aim to: 
Provide knowledge and develop skills, attitudes, 
values essential to personal development and 
necessary for living in and contributing to 
developing and changing society, provide 
learning experiences which increase a child’s 
awareness of and responsiveness to the changes 
in the society;

(Education Act of 1982) in the elementary 
level, schools through their curricula should 
aim to: 
Promote and intensify knowledge, identification 
with and love for nation and the people to which 
he belongs;

Promote experiences which develop orientation 
to the world of work and prepare the learner to 
engage in honest and gainful work.

Philosophy, goals and objective of education

  • 3. Pre-Spanish Period Education was informal, unstructured, and devoid of methods. Children were provided more vocational training and less academics (3Rs) by their parents and in the houses of tribal tutors.
  • 4. SPANISH PERIOD Education during that period was inadequate, suppressed and controlled.

  • 7. PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE The educational philosophy was in accordance with the provisions of Article XIV Section 5 of the 1935 Constitution which provides that: All educational institutions shall be under the supervision and subject to the regulation by the State. The government shall establish and maintain a complete and adequate system of public education, and shall provide at least free primary instruction and citizenship training to adult citizens

PROCLAMATION OF MARTIAL LAW As far as education is concern, the Marcos Constitution of 1973, Article XV Section 8 states that: All educational Institution shall be under the supervision and subject to the regulation by the State. The State shall establish and maintain a complete, adequate and integrated system of education relevant to the goals of national development. All institutions shall aim to include love for country, teach the duties of citizenship, and develop moral character, personal discipline and scientific and technological and vocational efficiency

Foster love of humanity 3. Promote respect for human rights 4. Appreciate the role of national heroes in the historical development of the country 5. Teach the right and duties of citizenship
  • 14. GOALS AND OBJECTIVE OF EDUCATION Curriculum Aims, Goals and objectives Based on the Philippine Constitution of 1987, all associate shall aim to: 6. Strengthen ethical and spiritual values 7. Develop moral character and personal discipline 8. Encourage critical and creative thinking 9. Broaden scientific and technological knowledge and promote vocational efficiency.

Aims of Elementary Education (Education Act of 1982) in the elementary level, schools through their curricula should aim to: Provide knowledge and develop skills, attitudes, values essential to personal development and necessary for living in and contributing to developing and changing society, provide learning experiences which increase a child’s awareness of and responsiveness to the changes in the society; 1
