  • #2 How is the net or social media faring in the Philippines? What do we know about the digital consumer? This is a quick overview of the existing data on local digital habits. And the truth is that, unfortunately,… there is not nearly enough data yet.
  • #3 Nationwide Internet Reach is at 28%, This was hared by Yahoo-Nielsen in a study released early last year. Where they shared that there was a 35% growth within 2008 alone. They also shared that this 28% is made up mostly of users who are single and under 30, And, reflective of the nationwide SEC breakdown, mostly from D.
  • #4 Where are people going online? From Alexa, a site that tracks the top sites around the world, The top sites are …… These are sites for email, search, video viewing, content publishing and reference. BUT 4 out of the top 10 sites are social networking sites.
  • #5 Let’s take a closer look at Facebook. It exploded in the Philippines in 2009, And has gornw another 15% in 2010. There are now an estimated 10.6 million Filipinos on Facebook!
  • #6 When it comes to activities - During IMMAP last year ABS-CBN shared highlights from the Nielsen Media Index, with data segmented by age. As you can see, there are several common factors among these groups -
  • #7 The common popular activities are chat, e-mail, online gaming and social networking, mentioned in almost every age bracket.
  • #8 From UM’s own Wave study in 2008, we know that active internet Filipino users are very social. This is data we’re all familiar with – but we are the most social in many ways in the whole world! Most read blogs, majority writes their own blogs. And of 29 countries surveyed, the Philippines has the highest rate of membership on social networking sites, uploading photos and watching videos
