This document outlines an assignment to create various projects about a selected sport. It provides 14 points that can be earned for tasks like writing a report on the sport, drawing diagrams of sport clothing and equipment, designing a logo and magazine cover, creating a diorama and word search, and developing a timeline of the sport's history. The maximum number of points earned can be 34.
The document then provides information about skateboarding, including 10 facts about its origins in California, early board designs, bans on the sport, wheel innovations, and the military's testing of skateboards. It concludes with a sample postcard and front/back magazine covers about skateboarding.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

3. Fact 1
California was the birthplace of the skateboarding culture. It came into existence as the waves were too
weak for surfing. In effect Californians created a surfboard with wheels.
Fact 2
The very first skateboards were like scooters and dated way back to the early 1900’s. They were generally
wood-bases with milk crates nailed onto them. These skateboards also sported handles.
Fact 3
1959 was when the first commercially manufactured skateboard called the Roller Derby Skateboard was
put up for sale. Its wheels were made of clay.
Fact 4
In Norway, the ownership, use and sale of skateboards was banned from 1978-1989. A shocking increase
in the number of people getting injured while riding a skateboard prompted the government to
implement the ban.
4. Fact 5
Norwegian skateboarding fans constructed ramps in secluded areas like forests to escape the
ban and practiced the sport there.
Fact 6
In the early 1970’s Frank Nasworthy added polyurethane wheel technology to skateboards.
Fact 7
Road Rider launched the very first precision-bearing skateboard wheels. This put an end to years
of loose ball bearings.
Fact 8
In 1976, Florida built the first outdoor skate-park. Soon, all of North America had skate-parks.
Soon after, skateboarding moved from being a horizontal to a vertical sport.
Fact 9
Jim Muir and Wes Humpston were the ones to market the first successful line of skateboards
with graphics on them. These were marketed under the Dog town brand name. Post this almost
every board manufacturer started manufacturing boards with graphics.
5. Fact 10
The United States Marine Corps experimented with the use of off-the-shelf skateboards in the late
1990’s. They used these in urban-combat military maneuver exercises to detect sniper fire and
tripwires

9. Skateboarding is an action sport which involves
riding and performing tricks using a skateboard.
Skateboarding can also be considered a recreational
activity, an art form, a job, or a method of
transportation.[1] Skateboarding has been shaped
and influenced by many skateboarders throughout
the years. A 2002 report found that there were 18.5
million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of
skateboarders polled who had used a board in the
last year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent
were male.[2]
Since the 1970s, skateparks have been constructed
specifically for use by skateboarders, Freestyle
BMXers, aggressive skaters, and very recently,
scooters.[3]
A skateboard is a type of sports equipment used primarily
for the activity of skateboarding. It usually consists of a
specially designed Maplewood board combined with a
polyurethane coating used for making smoother slides
and stronger durability.
A skateboard is propelled by pushing with one foot while
the other remains on the board, or by pumping one's legs
in structures such as a bowl or half pipe. A skateboard can
also be used by simply standing on the deck while on a
downward slope and allowing gravity to propel the board
and rider. If the rider positions their right foot forward,
he/she is said to ride "goofy;" if the rider positions their
left foot forward, he/she is said to ride "regular." If the
rider is normally regular but chooses to ride goofy,
he/she is said to be riding in "switch," and vice versa. A
skater is typically more comfortable pushing with their
back foot; choosing to push with the front foot is
commonly referred to as riding “mango”
INSIDE LEFT INSIDE RIGHT
10. These no longer require the propelling of the skateboard by means of the feet;
rather an electric motor propels the board, fed by an electric battery.
There is no governing body that declares any regulations on what constitutes a
skateboard or the parts from which it is assembled. Historically, the skateboard
has conformed both to contemporary trends and to the ever-evolving array of
stunts performed by riders/users, who require a certain functionality from the
board. Of course, the board shape depends largely upon its desired function.
Longboards are a type of skateboard with a longer wheelbase and larger, softer
wheels.
Skateboards have three axes. The tail axis (running from nose to tail), the
central axis (running straight down through the centre of the board), and the
short axis (running from the width of the board, perpendicular to the tail axis).
The two main types of skateboards are the longboard and the short board.
The shape of the board is also important: the skateboard must be concave
to perform difficult tricks.
