At school,Ifoundthat I excelledinsubjective lessonssuchasEnglishasthere wasno rightanswer,I
wantedtobe creative,expressmyself throughmywork.Findingavocational course inMediawas
the bestthingthat everhappenedtobe.Ifoundthat I wasgood witha camera,I had the eye for
photography,Ilearnthowto editvideosquicklyandIcoulddo itwell.Realisingthisearlyintothe
course,I immediatelydideverythingIcouldto developthoseskills inmyfree time,doing
photoshootsforfriends;familymembersorevenshootingavideofora competitionafriendwas
competingin,andI wasevenluckyenoughtobe invitedtoa musicvideoshootfora local band.I
was able tohelpsetup the scene andget on-setexperience onaprofessionalsetup. Expandingmy
experience,ithasalsoallowedme toexpandmyskillswithbothvideography,photography,andthe
editingprocess,whichhaspaidoff asmy college projectsare now ata higherstandard.The
productionstagesof a projectare myfavourite asit meansIcan create the image inmy headand
see itcome to life.StudyingMediaProductionatuniversitywouldbe beneficialtome as itwould
meanI could full fill mypotentialandflourishwithinthe industry.
Since 2016, I have beena Young Leaderat mylocal Brownie Unit,where Ihave gainedskillsin
communicationandleadership.Thishasallowedme togoon and volunteeratthe Guide Unit as well
because Ihave beenable toget the qualificationstoworkwithbothage groups. Duringthe Covid-19
lockdown,mylocal unitmoved online, andwe were able tokeepmeetingsuponZoom.Thiskeptus
engagedwiththe girlsandmeantwe couldkeepthe girls involvedwithGirlguidingwhenwe could
not meetinperson. Iwas alsoable togo to Lourdestwo yearsrunningwithmyschool,where I
volunteeredasa helpertokeepthe elderswhotravelledwithourdiocesecompanyandtake them
aroundthe differentbasilicas.Itwassuchan incredible andeye-openingexperience thatIam so
grateful tohave beenable totake part in.
I alsohave awards in Grade 4 in CombinedDramaandGrade 4 inDevisingthroughLondonAcademy
of Music& DramaticArts (LAMDA) and a DistinctioninPublicSpeakingthroughEnglishGCSE. Both
have increasedmyconfidence intalkinginfrontof groups,whichhasbeenhelpful inearning
leadershipqualificationsandleadinggroupprojects.
Mediais sucha huge part of my life,surroundingmyeverydaylife. andIhope fora careerin the
