Lucretia
The Lucretia was painted between 1520 to 1525 by Joos Van Cleve. The painting is an oil
painting on a wooden canvas. It can attribute to the High Renaissance art in Italy because it has
similar qualities and expressions with other works of art from that time period. The subject of this
picture is Lucretia an ancient Roman woman who had a vital role in reshaping the Roman Kingdom
into the Roman Republic. In the paintingshe is standing while piercing herself with a knife. She is
wearing a red coat with brown fur trimming. It is very lose on her dropping off her shoulders
exposing her breasts. She is also wearing two necklaces, a golden ring, and a golden bracelet.
One necklace is a golden chain, and the other is a necklace with a pendent. Both of her clothes
and jewelry shows that either she was in a wealthy family or had a high social position. Lucretia
is also wearing a red bonnet with a white veil that almost looks like smoke. The knife that she is
holding between her two hands is cutting through her stomach and going up. Blood can be seen
coming out of her wound. Lucretia is clearly commenting suicide and her facial expression is
just utter pain. Lucretia s body is only about three quarters shown of her upper body. Her breasts
are exposed and how her jewelry is draped on her naked body shows an immediate impression of
beauty and luxury of the female figure. Her head is tilted slightly to one side and her hands
clenching the knife shows that she might be reflecting on

Paper On Aladdin
Aladdin is a Walt Disney movie that released in 1992. The animated movie is based on an Arab
style folktale of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp from One Thousand and One Nights. This movie is
based upon a street rat named Aladdin, who lives in Agrabah with his monkey friend Abu. When a
princess named Jasmine gets tired of being told what to do she sneaks out to the marketplace, where
she accidentally meets Aladdin. Under the orders of Jafar (the sultan s advisor), Aladdin is thrown
in jail and gets tricked into Jafar s plot to rule the land with a mysterious lamp. There is legend
that only a person who is a diamond in the rough (poor) can retrieve the lamp from the Cave of
Wonders. Aladdin falls in love with Princess Jasmine, but he can not marry... Show more content on

The Themes Of Betrayal And Redemption In The Kite Runner
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is a historical fiction novel set mostly in Kabul, Afghanistan
and Fremont, California. The novel spans the time periods before, during, and after the reign of
the Russians (1979 1989) and the Taliban s takeover (1996) of Afghanistan. It is told through the
first person perspective of Amir alongside his father, Baba, his half brother, Hassan, and Baba s
companions Ali and Rahim Khan. Growing up, Amir and Hassan are practically inseparable, as
they are always playing games, reading poetry, or simply spending time together. Hassan s mother,
Sanaubar, is never present during the children s youthful years, but they both have Baba as a shared
father figure in their lives. The themes of betrayal and redemption... Show more content on

Hassan allows Assef to rape him because Assef threatens to take away the last kite that Amir has
cut to win the competition. Since he seeks Baba s approval, he wants to present it to him to
establish a better* relationship with him. Therefore, he views Hassan s rape as a sacrifice for
his desires. Directly before the incident, Amir [catches] a glimpse of Hassan s face, and
describes his face as holding resignation in it (76). He then goes on to compare his expression to
the look of a lamb (76). In this quote, Amir is referring to the sheep that he witnesses the mullah
kill on a Muslim holiday, the tenth day of Dhul Hijjah, which he and his family celebrate every
year. Amir believes that the lamb sees itself as a sacrifice, and accepts its unwanted fate, which is
how he believes that Hassan feels too. Though Amir later feels immense guilt for his actions*, he is
able to disregard* his regrets when he and Baba move to America to escape the Russian
takeover. Amir compares America to a river, roaring along , and views it as being unmindful of
the past (136). He describes forgetting his mistakes in America as entering the river, [letting] [his]
sins drown to the bottom , and allowing, the waters to carry [him] someplace far. (136). Because
of this, Amir enjoys thinking of America as a place with no ghosts, no memories, , and no sins ,
and relishes in his forgetful state (136). However, as one can not continue

Hormones And Levels Of These Hormones
hormones and levels of these hormones. The amount and type of hormones we experience while in
the womb are responsible for differentiating female brains from male brains and vice versa.
These two instances, the guinea pig and sex reassignment studies, lend credence to the idea that
biology influences our sexual orientation. To bolster these findings Bailey et al. (2000) cite
researchers who have explored regions of the brain that are sexually dimorphic (areas that are
notably different in men and women). Bailey et al. (2000) cites that in 1976 Dorner identified two
brain regions in rats that he implicated in sexual behavior for rats. In males he credited the medial
pre optic anterior hypothalamus (mPOA) and in female rats the area he believed to be responsible
for normal sexual behavior was the ventromedial nucleus (Bailey et al., 2000). This led to others
exploring the areas of the hypothalamus thought to contribute to sexual functioning. Ultimately it
was found that several areas in and around the mPOA appear to be sexually dimorphic. Bailey et
al. (2000) mention that upon comparisons of what is expected when looking at these areas in gay
men there is a difference in size. An area near/in the mPOA called INAH 3 is found to be smaller
and contain fewer cells in women compared to men. Gay men showed size and levels higher than
women but less than men. Also findings have shown that the anterior commissure (AC) that
connects the right and left hemispheres is significantly

Haiti In The Dust Bowl
One of the most well known events in American history is the Great Depression, when the stock
market crashed in 1929 and the United States economy reached its lowest point to date until 1939.
During this time, thousands of Americans migrated to find work on farms in central and southwest
United States. This land was known as the Dust Bowl. Similarly today, thousands of Haitians
migrate to the Dominican Republic for the same reason, to find work. There are many works of
literature that describe the lives of migrant workers, but one written specifically about the Dust
Bowl is John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, which gives an inside view of the minds of migrant
workers of the past, and can be related to present day. Although it may not seem obvious,... Show

Without labor migration, people may become enslaved instead, which is always the worst way of
obtaining workers. These migrant workers receive wages that are substantial enough to support
themselves, and hopefully their families. The whole idea of labor migration is seen less in more
developed countries, and in a way hidden in a sense, as you can see with the United States
continually attempting to block out migrants form Central and South America to maintain a
national image. This is also seen in the Dominican Republic, trying to rebuild their national
image to match that of countries such as the United States. John Steinbeck conveys the lives of
migrant workers in an unusual way, showing their passion for success, how hard they work, and
the extent that they will go to in order to be successful. He makes the life of a migrant worker
seem to be a very difficult one in which nothing is guaranteed and hard work, though it is the
only work accepted, may not get you anywhere. This is such a great way to make it out to be,
because it is so true, that nothing in life comes easy, and even when you deserve something you
may not get it. When tying all of this together, the Dust Bowl, Haiti, and Of Mice and Men, you
can see that these migrant workers all face similar hardships

The Difference Between Civil Rights And Civil Rights
I noted that the U.S. civil liberties, as well as, U.S. civil rights are generally located in the first ten
amendments to the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights, as well as, the Fourteenth
Amendment. The distinction between civil liberties and civil rights is blurred since the concepts
are used interchangeably, even though they refer to different kinds of guaranteed protections. Civil
liberties are protections against government actions. Whereas civil rightsrefer to positive actions
governments should take to create equal conditions. The primary objective of this essay is to
distinguish between civil rights and civil liberties. In this essay, I present a case related to the
civil right to free expression or creation of equal conditions in forum 4.1. Whereas in forum 4.2 I
present a provision of the US Patriot Act related to civil liberties or protections against federal
government action.

Dawn Octavia Butler
Bryant Hargrave
7/25/2016
In both Dawn by Octavia Butler, and District 9 we see the arrival of aliens and the dawn of a post
human future. While the Oankali of Dawn and the Prawns of District 9 differ in their appearances
and behavior there are some striking themes from both. The first is that as humans we are insecure,
inadequate creatures to guide our own future. As both stories progress humans are forced to
examine things that we were once confident in, whether it is Dawn s portrayal emasculating the
human males sexually. Dawn also evokes fears of the queer, specifically transgendered, and
miscegenation. District 9 is a shamelessly racist story, depicting the white control in South Africa.

Affecting Emotions in the Workplace and Long Term...
Affecting Emotions in the Workplace and Long Term Consequences Employees, particularly in
service industries, find themselves increasingly called upon to display positive emotions in the
workplace. Ashford and Humphrey (1993) define the act of displaying an emotion according to a
display rule as emotional labor (p. 90). According to Grandey (2003), research has shown that
positive affective displays, or expressing positive emotions, in service interactions, such as smiling
and conveying friendliness, are positively associated with important customer outcomes, such as
intention to return, intention to recommend a store to others, and perception of overall service
quality. Types of emotional displays include surface acting (modifying facial... Show more content

Socialization as part of the onboarding process and throughout an employee s career provides
examples and constant reminders of the affective displays that are desirable for the organization.
Finally, rewards and punishments provide the reinforcement needed to continually modify positive
and negative displays. Negative Long Term Effects According to Ang Chooi Hwa (2012)
emotional labor had both beneficial effects for the organization and negative effects on the
employee (p. 115). Montgomery et al. (2006) assert that emotionally demanding interactions can
mean less energy available for leisure and family involvement (p. 204). Additionally, Pines and
Aronson (as cited in Montgomery et al., 2006) affirm that emotionally demanding work situations
over long periods of time can lead to burnout, a state of exhaustion (p. 204). Burnout, as an overall
negative state, can be responsible for poor health and negative mental states. Hoschild (as cited in
Grandey, 2000) agrees that emotional labor is stressful and may result in burnout. However,
Grandey (2000) differentiates between surface acting and deep acting to determine that emotional
labor can have both positive and negative long term effects for the employee (p. 97 101). The
author further asserts that since surface acting is often equivalent to faking that it is the more
detrimental of the two, resulting in stressful experiences for the employee. This makes sense, since
it logical to assume that forcing oneself to

Today s Violence and Its Many Causes
Violence in today s society is at an all time high. There are many causes for the increase in
violence in our society. Violence is defined by (1) criminal law, the illegal use of unjustified force,
or the intimidating effect created by the threat of this (2) the use of physical force to injure
somebody or damage something (Encarta Dictionary: English North American Version). Rape,
homicide, assault and burglary with a weapon are all forms of malicious legal violence that plague

Case Study of Designing a Self-Service Disaster Recovery Plan
TITLE: Case Study of Designing a Self Service Disaster Recovery Plan
1.0Issues regarding disaster recovery plan (DRP)
Disaster recovery plan (DRP) is a clearly defined and documented plan of action for use at the time
of a crisis. Typically a plan will cover all the key personnel, resources, services and actions required
to implement and manage the DR process (comission, 2014).
A large US public power provider, with millions of residential and business customers, needed to
rethink its disaster recovery program. Due to budget constraints, the utility s data recovery

After getting the basic view of DRP, then we start to find the related new technology of
modernization of DRP technologies thus upgrade the system performance from taking 20 days to
recovery to shorter days to meet the board directors demand.
4.0Findings
4.1The status of the company DRP
The conventional DRP of the company has not been updated or tested for several years. Under the
existing program, system recovery could take up to 20 days which is unacceptable timeframe for a
utility relied upon by numerous states for critical infrastructure services.
We found that a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) had never been performed to prioritize disaster
recovery based on the cost of loss. We also found a significant lack of integration of disaster
recovery governance into the overall organizational structure.
We worked with the utility to perform a BIA to identify critical business processes, the likelihood of
service disruption, and the projected cost of loss. We then helped the utility understand the business
risks of systems and technology services interruption.
The team prioritized investments for disaster recovery initiatives, and in conjunction with business
unit leaders, designed a tiered model highlighting recovery priorities. These priorities were
validated with IT infrastructure leaders to help ensure alignment. As failover

Taking Risks And Trying New Things
Taking risks and trying new things is a thrilling moment for me. I can usually pride myself on
being adventurous when it comes to trying new food. Either trying a type of cuisine foreign to
me or choosing a new restaurant, I can always say that I will try anything at least once. If it is a
dish in a restaurant I have never tried before, or something that a family member or friend made, I
always think that nothing is so appalling that one bite may kill me. It is an exciting time for me, as
I might find a new foodtype that I had never heard of before that will end up becoming a new
favorite.
Sushi restaurants have been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. Japanese cuisine is
one of my favorites and I cherish every time I get to enjoy a meal at an authentic sushi restaurant.
I have always loved the varied aspects of Japanese cuisine, the fresh raw fish, the unique sushi
rolls, and the many enticing side dishes. I am always willing to try anything and never seem to
find a single dish at a sushi restaurant that I am not fond of. When I moved to Riverside, my family
began visiting this one all you can eat sushi restaurant. It was a great environment and an exciting
dining experience as you can order and try anything on the menu. This particular sushi restaurant
became a fast favorite of mine.
One evening however, I would be tested on just how willing I was to trying something strange and
new. On my way to the restaurant with my family, we were all eager for a

Stiff Neck Research Paper
According to the American Academy of Pain Medicine, Americans said that neck pain was on their
top four list of common pains. All of us have experience a stiff neck at some point in our lives. http:
//www.painmed.org/patientcenter/facts_on_pain.aspx#common What is a Stiff Neck?
It s when you experience pain or stiffness in the neck that makes it difficult to move your neck
from side to side. It s a pain that can usually be treated at home and will pass in a day or two with
the right treatment.
Common Causes of a Stiff Neck
Stress
One of the most common causes of a stiff neck is stress. Stress can cause muscles in the body to
tighten, which can eventually lead to stiffness and pain. People normally experience a stiff neck as

While sitting up straight in a chair, press your shoulder blades together then relax. This should be
done up to ten times. Roll your shoulders in circles to the back then reverse at least ten times. With
slow movements, press your ear towards your shoulder on each side. Do as many repetitions as you
need to start feeling the muscle releasing.
Heat Therapy
Blood circulation to the neck can decrease the pain and muscle spasm associated with a stiff neck.
You can use a heating pad or a warm cloth on your neck for approximately twenty minutes to relieve
the pain and stiffness. The heat loosens the neck muscles.
Massage the Muscle
A good massage of the area can also reduce inflammation and increase blood flow to the muscles. A
soothing oil for the massage will also have the added benefit of helping you to relax and feel less
stressed.
Exercises for a Stiff Neck
Like every other muscle in the body, the neck muscle needs to be exercised to function properly.
Slowly roll your head in a circle clockwise ten to fifteen times before switching directions and
circling counter clockwise. This will help exercise the neck. Let your chin drop to your chest
slowly then reverse direction to look at the ceiling. Be careful with this exercise since it can make
you slightly dizzy if you do it too quickly.

Walt Whitman s 1859 poem Out of the Cradle Rocking Endlessly depicts the mockingbird as a
symbol of innocence that chants or sings of fond memories from the past. By contrast, Harper
Lee s famous novel To Kill a Mockingbird, published in 1960, written almost a century after
Whitman s poem, portrays the mockingbird as innocent but as a fragile creature with horrific
memories memories of discrimination, isolation, and violence. Harper Lee wrote her novel,
which is rooted in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, in the Deep South, during a time of
segregation and discrimination, social issues which can be seen not only in the novel but were

life injustices such as Amasa Lee s case and the Scottsboro trials still remained. It was events like
these which helped to inspire Lee to write a book that brings to light the social issues of the day
such as social class distinction and, of course, racism. However, the novel also establishes the idea
that not all were guilty of heinous behavior and ideology some, like the mockingbird, were
innocent. To understand the importance of the theme of the mockingbird in Lee s novel, one must

Minds Of Killers
Inside the Minds of Killers Around the world, several new cases of serial homicides are reported
every year. (Vronsky 15). Ninety seven percent of serial murders are committed by psychopaths:
someone who lacks a conscience, feels no remorse, cares exclusively for his own pleasures and
cannot empathize with the suffering of his victims (Levin and Fox 4). The psychopathic state is
not a mental illness but is a behavioral or personality disorder (Vronsky 245). When these
behavioral components are combined with the desire to kill, an addiction is triggered and rarely
broken. The psychology of a psychopathic serial killer produces specific character traits that cannot

Central City Emergency Response Paper
Central City previous mayor took the initial steps to adopt the IMS based operations, which is a
good start. The city is vulnerable to various kinds of routine emergencies that can be handled
with confidence. What Central City needs to prepare for are novelties. The wave of hurricanes
that hit the region this fall should be a wakeup call for the city to be ready for all types of crises.
The IMS needs to be the foundation for Central Cityemergency response. This will require a lot of
hard work and preparation. It s the mayor s responsibility towards the citizens of this city to have
an effective emergency response system that can handle all scales of emergencies to achieve the
best results. IMS provides a comprehensive systematic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To do so, the mayor needs to lead the efforts to overcome cognitive biases between emergency
leaders and stress the fact that this is a collective learning process that requires group effort, inputs
and buy in from all agencies. This important factor will eliminate redundancy, waste of resources
and interoperability between forces which is crucial to effectiveness. The third step is effectively
managing and sharing resources that are critical to all jurisdictions. Mutual aid arrangements need
to be in place to access facilities, services, and support from other jurisdictions throughout the
incident. A resource managementsystem should be established for describing, inventorying,
requesting, tracking, activating and dispatching resources. This will also help in financial tracking,
reimbursement, and reporting. The fourth step is for the city to employ a unified command to
establish connection between deployed responders. This will enhance collaboration between
several functional teams like police and fire departments and will build consensus between them.
The fifth and most important step of implementing the IMS is to develop an ongoing maintenance
plan. The previous four steps can be reviewed periodically and will always have room for
improvement. All levels of city government; elected and appointed; need to be involved. Other
stakeholders like the private sector and

Literature Review Theoretical Framework
An Overview:
The literature that I have been gathering and going through since last few weeks, have just mounted
the evidence that Positionality is interpreted uniquely by the diverse group of people.
Positionality always existed; it s only that people have become more responsive to it now.
Every person is unknowingly or knowingly positioning himself in the mind of the other. This can
occur when a person is in the company of his colleagues, his friends, relatives, or even in his own
house! This impact or the impression as we call it casually can be through very subtle signs of the
person s expressions and responses to some particular views, ideas or opinions. Even a person s
appearance through the way he presents himself, contributes enormously in constructing an image
or a position of that particular person in the mind of the other.
Looking at a wider perspective, ones own positionality can prove to be a big hurdle in his/her life.
Positionality stops a person from being creative or thinking outside the box. It makes a person
very rigid very confound. And this in itself is a barrier to your success.
Corporates today are constantly under pressure. The pressure of giving the right

Albert s Life-Personal Narrative
I didn t want to go with Albert. There was far too much going on to miss any of it. I tried to dig
my heels into the ground in a desperate attempt to keep my annoyed brother from dragging me
on, but he only tightened his grip on my wrist. I could hear shouts and excitement coming from
a block away, where I had been hastily pulled from my friends in Albert s attempt to escape the
chaos before we could be captivated by the beginnings of a strike. He knew I was curious; when am
I not? But as an eight year old street boy with only a fiery haired, freckled older brother to call
family, this was the excitement I had been longing for. We continued down the early morning
streets of New York, the sun barely peeking over the towering concrete and stone giants
surrounding us. Not many people were out at this time of day, and it felt as though there were
even less with all the newsies absent from their usual corners. Albert had started to slow down as
we got closer to the Lodging House. It was quiet, as if a strange spirit had taken over now that all
the rambunctious and rowdy young boys were out causing trouble elsewhere. Even from farther
away, you could still hear faint shouts in the distance rising up from the aforementioned
ragamuffins. When one particularly loud uproar rose into the air, Albert yanked me up the stairs, my

The Importance Of Tanning Bed
It s summertime in Brevard County, and that means even more blazing temperatures! Atlantis
Vision Center in Indian Harbour Beach, FL, has provided expert optician care for 15 years, and so
we are recommending tips about keeping your eyes safe this summer.
Exposure to sunlight may increase the risk of developing growths on the eyes and cataracts. Don t
forget that this risk applies to using tanning beds, and always protect your eyes from indoor UV
light. When sunlight reflects off water and sand, it can lead to a painful condition called
photokeratitis (which is also responsible for snow blindness and is like a sunburned eye).
Since UV radiation is so damaging, always wear UV blocking sunglasses, and start wearing proper
eye protection at an early age.
More eye smart safety from the American Academy of Ophthalmology is below:... Show more

Sunglasses need to block both UVA and UVB rays, and have a UV400 or 100% UV protection label.
A great style is the wraparound kind, so that the sunlight rays cannot enter from the side.
You still need sunglasses even if you wear UV blocking contact lenses.
Wear a hat! Broad brimmed hats are good options.
Clouds do NOT block UV light: The sun s rays pass through clouds and haze, so sun damage can
occur any time of year.
UV intense conditions: Sunlight is strongest mid day to early afternoon, when reflected off water,
and at higher altitudes.
Enjoy the summer sun safely and protect your vision! Visit http://www.atlantisvisioncenter.com

Thesis: The Japanese aesthetics of irregularity and simplicity manifest in the artistic creations in
calligraphy, make up brushes and pottery. Through an examination of the both the process by
which these items are created as well as the final object made, the soul and personality of the

This idea fosters love for creating and exploring and discovering new methods of art. The art is
elegant unpretentious and yet highly complex. The accidental beauties of calligraphy are the
puzzle pieces to the artist s soul. The viewer identifies the differences in the art and recognizes the
parts of the artists. Each complex irregularity is a complex characteristic of the artist. The
irregularities of calligraphy are complex yet the art is simple. The paradoxical art of simplicity and

Starting with the simple structure of a brush, and a hand made paper, a calligrapher can create

Daniel Gardner and the Science of Fear
Anyone who saw it will never forget it. And almost everyone saw it. When the first jet darted out
of that crisp blue September sky and crashed into the World Trade Center, only a single
television camera captured the image. But as the tower burned, alerts flashed trough wires and
airwaves. The world s electronic eyes turned, opened, and waited. When the second plane
streaked in, an immense audience perhaps hundreds of millions saw the jet, the angry
explosion, the gushing smoke, the glass and steel raining down like confetti in a parade. They
saw it live (Gardner, 2008). Nearly 3000 people were killed during the terrorist attacks on 11
September 2001 and the coming months the media were filled with interviews, profiles and
terrible stories of loss. Fear of more terrorist attacks spread the nation. As a reaction, the
American population massively abandoned airports and chose to travel by car instead, which
had a great impact on the airline business. But what no one mentioned nor the media or
politicians is that air travel is dramatically safer than driving. The safety gap is so large, that
planes would still be safer than cars even if the threat of terrorism were unimaginably worse than
it actually is. According to research, 1595 people lost their lives because of the major shift from air
travel to a much less safe way of traveling: by car. That is six times as many as the people who
where on board of the doomed flights on September 11. So how come that people put

African Minkisi and American Culture Essay
African Minkisi and American Culture
I. Introduction
African Minkisi have been used for hundreds of years in West Central Africa, This area where they
are traditionally from was once known as the kingdom of Kongo, when Europeans started settling
and trading with the BaKongo people. Kongo was a well known state throughout much of the world
by the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The BaKongo, however, had probably long used
minkisi before ethnographers and anthropologists ever recorded them. Minkisi are complex items
that are used to heal and to harm people, and there is no equivalent term for nkisi in any European
language. A seventeenth century Dutch geographer first wrote of the nkisi, and said that,... Show

To understand the people, you also must first understand their worldviews, their history, religion,
economic conditions, how advanced their scientific knowledge was, etc. By learning about this one
item used in Kongo culture, I have learned an enormous amount about the Kongo culture and the
BaKongo, and have come to a new level of awareness about material culture.
The goals of this paper have changed throughout the course of my research. At first, I didn t even
know what an nkisi was, let alone did I know where I wanted to go with this paper. After doing
my research though, I have decided against a paper completely focused on original ideas.
Instead, my goal of this paper is to use the things that I learned in our anthropology class, and
apply them to minkisi. By applying the things I have learned in the readings from our class, I
have learned a lot more about minkisi than I could ever gain by just reading a few books. I will
especially focus on the works of Deetz, Vlach, and the authors about folk objects. I will also focus
on what we talked about in class about usable truth when referring to objects associated with slave
resistance.
The first conclusion I have come to during the course of my research, is that I don t know how
anybody could reduce African religion to being anything less than complicated. At first the minkisi
seem savage . Until quite recently, our (the Western world) response to

Billfish
The general term billfish describes a number of species of long, predatory fish characterized by
long, sword like bills. It includes sailfish and swordfish. They are generally exploited for both
food and game. Swordfish, in particular, are prized for their firm, tasty flesh. While the long beaks
have been observed in anger to spear objects such as small boats, their main function is to stun prey.
Different Lures For Blue Marlin
Artificial lures, live and natural bait have all been successfully employed to capture the blue
marlin. The most popular technique seems to be artificial lure fishing, which was developed in
Hawaii. Among the earliest artificial lures were chrome towel rails tied with strips of rubber taken
from inner tubes. Four or more such lures are fastened together and trolled behind boats at speeds
of between 7 and 15 knots.

A Great Experiment Of Culture Transplant Cross culture management, Prof. Alfred Kieser XiaoJun
Ma Culture is a set of basic assumptions, which shared solutions to universal problems of external
adaptations and internal integration which have evolved over time and are handed from one

But usually, this failure is credited to lack of understanding about the strong role of culture and the
role it plays in organizations, not because the culture does not play an important role in corporations.
Actually this is one of the reasons why that many strategic planners now place as much emphasis on
identifying strategic values as they affect strategy mission and vision. The facts of logic of
industrialization, technology, striving for efficiency have risen the argument that whether
organizations should be culture free or not. Too much consideration of culture in an organization
could reduce efficiency of the organizations. And it seems like the industrialization and technology
development have put the culture problems aside, the conflicts caused by culture different could be
ignored in this case. But is this the real situation? First of all, culture affects the beliefs and values
of people, and also, it decides the behavior of people, the information gathering method and
communication type, decision making and so on, which are all critical in running business. So
organizations are actually culture bound in spite of pressures for convergence of the facts of
industrialization, globalization and so on. Practices that are transferred to another culture will take
on characteristics of the new environment. The environment will select a part of the new culture

Women In A Rose For Emily And A Streetcar Named Desire
Every society has its own challenges and aspirations, but how these are handled makes a lot of
difference. (Akujobi) However, our society today and in the past have had the same challenge,
which is the suppressing of women by men. Anais Nin asked; How wrong is it for a woman to
expect the man to build the world she wants, rather than to create it herself? In today s life it is
getting better since women finally start having their own carrier instead of getting married with
20 while already being pregnant. Augsburg s bishop Walter Mixa called women a few years ago
baby producers , which is a very outdated view of women and got ripped into pieces for that
statement. This shows that even though they are old fashioned people around the majority
understands that women and men are equal and women deserve to be happy, independent and
successful. However, most women see building a family as their way to be happy. Does that make

The Negative Consequences Of Stereotyping
Stereotyping is to treat or classify a person, place, or thing according to a mental idea or
conception. This concept has been inherited every generation throughout life. Everyone knows right
from wrong, but when stereotyping comes into play, it s acceptable. Stereotyping negatively affects
the lives of those who judge along with those who are judged. Within a couple readings and videos
portraying stereotypes, I have begun to realize why people continue to assort things into groups. My
outcome is that people judge directly off what they see, then they begin to understand the truth to it.
To begin with, the reason we continue to use stereotypes are to make one feel better about
themselves. One person s thoughts has the power to influence anyone ... Show more content on

For instance, in the film Crash, a newbie cop who meant no harm towards black people or anyone in

partner who illegally treated civilians without respect only because of the color of their skin. Due
to his acts, the new cop, off patrol, shot a black hitchhiker when pulling out a christian figurine
from his pocket thinking it was a firearm. Stereotyping is mainly influential. Imagine growing up
without hearing certain people are bad or stink or are smart even. Stereotypes aren t always bad,
but they still criticize all aspects of people. Influential judgement continues thus, giving a nickname
to all walks of life. The film Crash shows that most forms of stereotypes are based upon
discrimination among diverse races.
To sum up, diversity plays a big role within stereotyping. If one does not look, talk, or walk like
the rest, they are poorly judged and treated without morality. Furthermore, prejudism has caused
much distrust in all neighborhoods in the world as we can see from the above authors and the film,

very difficult to take back. From this, many mishaps have occurred from judging, however we still

Religion In Dante s Inferno
Seven hundred and three years ago Dante published his Inferno, still today many years later it is
analyzed by many. how can Dante s work be depicted into different aspects of religions? The
best way to understand the words of Dante is to relate religions to the text, by researching
backgrounds of three diverse religions, analyzing the different aspects throughout Dante; we
then can correlate his works with a deeper religious sense. In the first place, Christians of the
new and old age primarily believe that after death their souls live on in the grace of God s
presence. For example, in the Bible it states, Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. He
who believes in me will live even though he dies. In Dante s Inferno, Dante is shunned by God s
grace and is trying to find his way back. In the concluding lines of inferno; ...and beauteous shining
of the Heavenly cars. And we walked out once more beneath the Stars (Alighieri 287). These last
words represent Dante climbing out of the nightmare he called Helland he is gazing upon the
beautiful stars of Heaven. Which represents a sense of hope as if his sins are forgiven. Heaven
and hell in the Bible have a rather vague description of the details embedded in the experience
you will face in the afterlife. All that is very well known and established is Heaven is a place of
light and God s love and Hell is the land in which you experience eternal suffering for your sins.
These loose interpretations of hell are greatly represented in Inferno because Dante takes these
thoughts and roughly based Christian ideology of the after life into his own Visions of Hell
Henceforth, the Christian faith and ideas are the base to many other religions. Dante s Inferno a
like Christianityhas multiple representations of faith including an abundance of Christian Beliefs. In
like manner, when looking deep beneath the surface of Dante s writing, Buddhists have a major
correlation to Inferno. First, there is three stages: Samsara (cycle of rebirth) Karma and
Enlightenment. Most Hope to aspire to the level of Enlightenment in nirvana to end suffering.
Inferno is greatly represented in Buddhism. An example of this is, Samsara represents purgatory in
a sense as in a

Do consumers have a connection with their shampoo brand? To find out, we interviewed four
individuals on their choices, associations, and purchasing decisions when it came to shampoo. The
aim of this research was to learn how consumer product relationships develop and relate to future
purchasing decisions with mundane products less than five pounds. From the interviewers, we
discovered how consumers relate to shampoo, their purchasing habits, price ... Show more content

Our first recommendation is the Point System , although consumers tend to buy the same shampoo
brand for many years, they are still price sensitive and eager to make use of any potential offers or
discounts. We therefore suggest that shampoo marketers respond to this price sensitivity by
offering discounts to repeat users. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is
Brand Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand
for years and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their
reference group e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these
two points by using brand ambassadors.
Conclusion Through our interviews we aimed to understand the consumer product relationship
between individuals and their shampoo brand. As a group we were surprised by the level of brand
loyalty individuals have towards their shampoo. A successful marketing campaign should therefore
not only take into account the consumer decision making process but also the consumer product
relationship. As it is through exploiting and analyzing this relationship that marketers can capture
new customers and retain old customers. Marketing managers should not underestimate the power
of the consumer product relationship even for something as mundane and seemingly unimportant as

How Did Charles Dickens Contradictions During The...
Charles Dickens s Oliver Twist was published in 1837 during the Victorian Era. The book was
written during a time of great advancements in medicine, technology, and science. These new
technologies along with the British imperial expansion led to a skyrocket in population and
wealth. The increase of people and wealth made Britain s poor even poorer, and resulted in
distasteful practices that led to the Victorian Era being known as a time of contradictions. Charles
Dickenss life and Oliver Twist symbolize the contradictions that were prevalent during the Victorian
Era.
The Victorian Era was the time period during Queen Victoria s reign. The period lasted from 1837
until 1901 and began after the end of the industrial revolution. The time was ... Show more content

Oliver, a small boy, is orphaned at a young age. He encounters many trials, and finds out that he is
the heir to a fortune. Oliver is thrown into the harsh environment of child labor, crime, and
corruption. He remains good natured, despite the world around him telling him that he is bad.
Many characters in Oliver Twist symbolize the contradictions in the Victorian Era. The Artful
Dodger, Jack Dawkins, is a thief in Fagin s gang. He meets young Oliver early on in the story and
introduces him to Fagin. Jack then helps Oliver to become a thief only to fail and betray Oliver
by leaving him to take the fall. Jack symbolizes the young children who have to cut their
childhood short and grow up in order to provide for themselves. Oliver describes Jack He was a
snub nosed, flat browed, common faced boy enough; and as dirty a juvenile as one would wish
to see; but he had about him all the airs and manners of a man . Jack follows the idea that the poor
are destined for crime and ends up being caught and is punished. Bill Sikes is a vicious, cold, and
brutal man. He is one of, if not, the most brutal characters in Oliver Twist. Sikes represents the
Victorian preconception of poor people and criminals. Sikes kills the only one that ever shows him
affection. He later accidentally or intentionally hangs himself after being chased by a mob. Noah
Claypole is met in the beginning of the story. Noah physically

Employer 401 Case Study
We often ask the question, How does our 401(k) plan stack up? When you are an employee, you
will consider items such as the investment choices, administration fees, or loan terms. However, if
you are an owner, the most important thing to think about may be how to contribute the highest
amount you can under Section 415. For 2016, the defined contribution plan annual addition limit
without catch up is $53,000, and will rise to $54,000 next year.
The Internal Revenue Code (IRC) subjects qualified employer plans to compliance testing.
Employer 401(k) plans must pass the actual deferral percentage (ADP) test, and if there are
employer match contributions, the actual contribution percentage (ACP) test. However, safe harbor
plans are not subject to discrimination testing if the plan sponsor contributes a pre approved safe
harbor employer contribution.
Safe harbor plans guarantee that the Highly Compensated Employees (HCEs) will be able to
contribute the maximum deferral amount of $18,000, but not necessarily the maximum annual
addition under Code Section 415. In those cases, the triple stack match formula may be the solution,
as follows:
Stack One: 100% of the first 3% of deferrals, plus 50% on the next 2% of deferrals. That means
that if an employee defers 5%, they will receive the maximum 4% of compensation match on the
first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the requirements discussed above, it is important to remember that none of the
stacked matches can require a 1,000 hour of work or employment at year end. Stack One also
cannot be subject to vesting, as it must be fully vested to qualify as safe harbor. Provisions for the
triple stack match must be in place before the start of the plan year in which they are

Abstract
Much like the telephone or the automobile, the internet has dramatically changed the way people
work and live. Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly
led to the creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas,
collaborate, mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed
today. From its humble beginning as a relatively inexpensive lab project aimed at improving
workflows to its rise against tyranny in world affairs, a worldwide obsession with the internet has
gone viral and will likely sweep non discriminatorily to all parts of the globe. As this loosely
regulated environment, also known as Cyberspace, the Net or the Web , matures; it is the civic duty
of its users to ensure that the door to the information gateway remains open and accessible as it
continues to disrupt all industry and influence all aspects of human conditions. Introduction
The worldwide use of the internet is practically indispensible. Yet, its origin only dates back to the
early 1950s. No invention in history has grown so fast to touch so many lives. In fact, neither the
telephone nor the automobile nor the printing press has the impact of the internet on the human
civilization as a

Examples Of Euthanasia In The Giver By Lois Lowry
Would you want to live in a world where you could die for being different? In The Giver by Lois
Lowry a boy named Jonas lives in a world of sameness, outsiders were released, which he soon
uncovered was death. The people of the community found this system reasonable other than Jonas
and the Giver who go against the idea. This novel promotes and accepts the practice of euthanasia,
which ultimately leads to the climax of Jonasleaving the community into Elsewhere. Underweight
infants, rule breakers and elderly people were killed/ released, the citizens of the community were
never told of this method, and no one ever asked. In The Giverrelease of babies were rare, it only
happens if the baby is too small, is a twin, or cries too much. In The

The Image Analysis Of Drakkar Nior
What more in the world is needed for you to buy my product? I, cooperate America, spend
millions of dollars a year in research and marketing to try to advertise my product directly to you
by using a variety of methods, the most prominent being Aristotle s ancient rhetorical appeals. In
this image analysis, I will be breaking down the thoughts of the marketing team at Drakkar Nior
and explain who their are targeting and what strategies they use to do so.
This brand Drakkar Nior was introduced in 1982 by by Guy Laroche. It is a part of the Pierre
Wargnye perfume company now manufactured by L Ore al. According to the New York Times is
translates into a flat bottomed Viking ship (Drakkar Nior Wikipedia). In July of 2014 the company
created a new advertisement.
The ad features a famous black muscular shirtless football, Cam Newton of the Carolina
Panthers, player with a six pack and an intense facial expression. Cam is wearing shoulder pads in
the rectangular door shaped tunnel of what appears to be a sports facility, assuming it is a football
stadium, with a beam of light coming through. To the right there is a photo shopped bottle of the
product. The cologne is in a average, some could say manly, looking blue and black bottle in the
shape of a curved rectangle. The shade of blue and the black are the same colors as the Carolina
Panthers logo. Underneath the bottle there are words that say The new fragrance for men FEEL
THE POWER . Drakkar designed everything in this ad

Bureaucratic Authoritarian Regimes
A Comparative Study of Brazil and Chile
Just a few short decades ago, bureaucratic authoritarian (BA) regimes were a common feature of
many Southern Cone states. Economic crises in the 1960s and 1970s gave rise to military regimes
that ultimately abandoned import substituting, inward looking developmental models in favor of
neoliberal, outward looking strategies (Kurtz, 142). Market liberalization and participation in the
global economy became state priorities, a significant departure from policies that focused on
production for the domestic market under more leftist regimes. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the effects

  • 2. Lucretia The Lucretia was painted between 1520 to 1525 by Joos Van Cleve. The painting is an oil painting on a wooden canvas. It can attribute to the High Renaissance art in Italy because it has similar qualities and expressions with other works of art from that time period. The subject of this picture is Lucretia an ancient Roman woman who had a vital role in reshaping the Roman Kingdom into the Roman Republic. In the paintingshe is standing while piercing herself with a knife. She is wearing a red coat with brown fur trimming. It is very lose on her dropping off her shoulders exposing her breasts. She is also wearing two necklaces, a golden ring, and a golden bracelet. One necklace is a golden chain, and the other is a necklace with a pendent. Both of her clothes and jewelry shows that either she was in a wealthy family or had a high social position. Lucretia is also wearing a red bonnet with a white veil that almost looks like smoke. The knife that she is holding between her two hands is cutting through her stomach and going up. Blood can be seen coming out of her wound. Lucretia is clearly commenting suicide and her facial expression is just utter pain. Lucretia s body is only about three quarters shown of her upper body. Her breasts are exposed and how her jewelry is draped on her naked body shows an immediate impression of beauty and luxury of the female figure. Her head is tilted slightly to one side and her hands clenching the knife shows that she might be reflecting on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Themes Of Betrayal And Redemption In The Kite Runner The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is a historical fiction novel set mostly in Kabul, Afghanistan and Fremont, California. The novel spans the time periods before, during, and after the reign of the Russians (1979 1989) and the Taliban s takeover (1996) of Afghanistan. It is told through the first person perspective of Amir alongside his father, Baba, his half brother, Hassan, and Baba s companions Ali and Rahim Khan. Growing up, Amir and Hassan are practically inseparable, as they are always playing games, reading poetry, or simply spending time together. Hassan s mother, Sanaubar, is never present during the children s youthful years, but they both have Baba as a shared father figure in their lives. The themes of betrayal and redemption... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hassan allows Assef to rape him because Assef threatens to take away the last kite that Amir has cut to win the competition. Since he seeks Baba s approval, he wants to present it to him to establish a better* relationship with him. Therefore, he views Hassan s rape as a sacrifice for his desires. Directly before the incident, Amir [catches] a glimpse of Hassan s face, and describes his face as holding resignation in it (76). He then goes on to compare his expression to the look of a lamb (76). In this quote, Amir is referring to the sheep that he witnesses the mullah kill on a Muslim holiday, the tenth day of Dhul Hijjah, which he and his family celebrate every year. Amir believes that the lamb sees itself as a sacrifice, and accepts its unwanted fate, which is how he believes that Hassan feels too. Though Amir later feels immense guilt for his actions*, he is able to disregard* his regrets when he and Baba move to America to escape the Russian takeover. Amir compares America to a river, roaring along , and views it as being unmindful of the past (136). He describes forgetting his mistakes in America as entering the river, [letting] [his] sins drown to the bottom , and allowing, the waters to carry [him] someplace far. (136). Because of this, Amir enjoys thinking of America as a place with no ghosts, no memories, , and no sins , and relishes in his forgetful state (136). However, as one can not continue ... • 5. Hormones And Levels Of These Hormones hormones and levels of these hormones. The amount and type of hormones we experience while in the womb are responsible for differentiating female brains from male brains and vice versa. These two instances, the guinea pig and sex reassignment studies, lend credence to the idea that biology influences our sexual orientation. To bolster these findings Bailey et al. (2000) cite researchers who have explored regions of the brain that are sexually dimorphic (areas that are notably different in men and women). Bailey et al. (2000) cites that in 1976 Dorner identified two brain regions in rats that he implicated in sexual behavior for rats. In males he credited the medial pre optic anterior hypothalamus (mPOA) and in female rats the area he believed to be responsible for normal sexual behavior was the ventromedial nucleus (Bailey et al., 2000). This led to others exploring the areas of the hypothalamus thought to contribute to sexual functioning. Ultimately it was found that several areas in and around the mPOA appear to be sexually dimorphic. Bailey et al. (2000) mention that upon comparisons of what is expected when looking at these areas in gay men there is a difference in size. An area near/in the mPOA called INAH 3 is found to be smaller and contain fewer cells in women compared to men. Gay men showed size and levels higher than women but less than men. • 6. Haiti In The Dust Bowl One of the most well known events in American history is the Great Depression, when the stock market crashed in 1929 and the United States economy reached its lowest point to date until 1939. During this time, thousands of Americans migrated to find work on farms in central and southwest United States. This land was known as the Dust Bowl. Similarly today, thousands of Haitians migrate to the Dominican Republic for the same reason, to find work. There are many works of literature that describe the lives of migrant workers, but one written specifically about the Dust Bowl is John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, which gives an inside view of the minds of migrant workers of the past, and can be related to present day. Although it may not seem obvious,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without labor migration, people may become enslaved instead, which is always the worst way of obtaining workers. These migrant workers receive wages that are substantial enough to support themselves, and hopefully their families. The whole idea of labor migration is seen less in more developed countries, and in a way hidden in a sense, as you can see with the United States continually attempting to block out migrants form Central and South America to maintain a national image. This is also seen in the Dominican Republic, trying to rebuild their national image to match that of countries such as the United States. John Steinbeck conveys the lives of migrant workers in an unusual way, showing their passion for success, how hard they work, and the extent that they will go to in order to be successful. He makes the life of a migrant worker seem to be a very difficult one in which nothing is guaranteed and hard work, though it is the only work accepted, may not get you anywhere. This is such a great way to make it out to be, because it is so true, that nothing in life comes easy, and even when you deserve something you may not get it. When tying all of this together, the Dust Bowl, Haiti, and Of Mice and Men, you can see that these migrant workers all face similar hardships ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Difference Between Civil Rights And Civil Rights I noted that the U.S. civil liberties, as well as, U.S. civil rights are generally located in the first ten amendments to the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights, as well as, the Fourteenth Amendment. The distinction between civil liberties and civil rights is blurred since the concepts are used interchangeably, even though they refer to different kinds of guaranteed protections. Civil liberties are protections against government actions. Whereas civil rightsrefer to positive actions governments should take to create equal conditions. The primary objective of this essay is to distinguish between civil rights and civil liberties. In this essay, I present a case related to the civil right to free expression or creation of equal conditions in forum 4.1. Whereas in forum 4.2 I present a provision of the US Patriot Act related to civil liberties or protections against federal government action. Forum 4.1: Anti Abortion T Shirt and Civil Right to Free Expression On April 26, 2005, the third National Pro Life T shirt Day two sisters (Brittany and Tamera Chandler) who resided in Des Moines, Iowa and enrolled in Roosevelt High School were asked to remove or cover up their pro life t shirts which were not considered appropriate. The first is that as humans we are insecure, inadequate creatures to guide our own future. As both stories progress humans are forced to examine things that we were once confident in, whether it is Dawn s portrayal emasculating the human males sexually. Affecting Emotions in the Workplace and Long Term Consequences Employees, particularly in service industries, find themselves increasingly called upon to display positive emotions in the workplace. Ashford and Humphrey (1993) define the act of displaying an emotion according to a display rule as emotional labor (p. 90). According to Grandey (2003), research has shown that positive affective displays, or expressing positive emotions, in service interactions, such as smiling and conveying friendliness, are positively associated with important customer outcomes, such as intention to return, intention to recommend a store to others, and perception of overall service quality. Negative Long Term Effects According to Ang Chooi Hwa (2012) emotional labor had both beneficial effects for the organization and negative effects on the employee (p. 115). Montgomery et al. (2006) assert that emotionally demanding interactions can mean less energy available for leisure and family involvement (p. 204). Additionally, Pines and Aronson (as cited in Montgomery et al., 2006) affirm that emotionally demanding work situations over long periods of time can lead to burnout, a state of exhaustion (p. 204). Burnout, as an overall negative state, can be responsible for poor health and negative mental states. Hoschild (as cited in Grandey, 2000) agrees that emotional labor is stressful and may result in burnout. However, Grandey (2000) differentiates between surface acting and deep acting to determine that emotional labor can have both positive and negative long term effects for the employee (p. 97 101). The author further asserts that since surface acting is often equivalent to faking that it is the more detrimental of the two, resulting in stressful experiences for the employee. This makes sense, since it logical to assume that forcing oneself to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Under the existing program, system recovery could take up to 20 days which is unacceptable timeframe for a utility relied upon by numerous states for critical infrastructure services. We found that a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) had never been performed to prioritize disaster recovery based on the cost of loss. We also found a significant lack of integration of disaster recovery governance into the overall organizational structure. We worked with the utility to perform a BIA to identify critical business processes, the likelihood of service disruption, and the projected cost of loss. We then helped the utility understand the business risks of systems and technology services interruption. The team prioritized investments for disaster recovery initiatives, and in conjunction with business unit leaders, designed a tiered model highlighting recovery priorities. These priorities were validated with IT infrastructure leaders to help ensure alignment. As failover ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Either trying a type of cuisine foreign to me or choosing a new restaurant, I can always say that I will try anything at least once. If it is a dish in a restaurant I have never tried before, or something that a family member or friend made, I always think that nothing is so appalling that one bite may kill me. It is an exciting time for me, as I might find a new foodtype that I had never heard of before that will end up becoming a new favorite. Sushi restaurants have been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. Japanese cuisine is one of my favorites and I cherish every time I get to enjoy a meal at an authentic sushi restaurant. I have always loved the varied aspects of Japanese cuisine, the fresh raw fish, the unique sushi rolls, and the many enticing side dishes. I am always willing to try anything and never seem to find a single dish at a sushi restaurant that I am not fond of. When I moved to Riverside, my family began visiting this one all you can eat sushi restaurant. Ninety seven percent of serial murders are committed by psychopaths: someone who lacks a conscience, feels no remorse, cares exclusively for his own pleasures and cannot empathize with the suffering of his victims (Levin and Fox 4). The psychopathic state is not a mental illness but is a behavioral or personality disorder (Vronsky 245). This can occur when a person is in the company of his colleagues, his friends, relatives, or even in his own house! This impact or the impression as we call it casually can be through very subtle signs of the person s expressions and responses to some particular views, ideas or opinions. Even a person s appearance through the way he presents himself, contributes enormously in constructing an image or a position of that particular person in the mind of the other. Looking at a wider perspective, ones own positionality can prove to be a big hurdle in his/her life. Positionality stops a person from being creative or thinking outside the box. I could hear shouts and excitement coming from a block away, where I had been hastily pulled from my friends in Albert s attempt to escape the chaos before we could be captivated by the beginnings of a strike. Atlantis Vision Center in Indian Harbour Beach, FL, has provided expert optician care for 15 years, and so we are recommending tips about keeping your eyes safe this summer. Exposure to sunlight may increase the risk of developing growths on the eyes and cataracts. Don t forget that this risk applies to using tanning beds, and always protect your eyes from indoor UV light. When sunlight reflects off water and sand, it can lead to a painful condition called photokeratitis (which is also responsible for snow blindness and is like a sunburned eye). When the first jet darted out of that crisp blue September sky and crashed into the World Trade Center, only a single television camera captured the image. But as the tower burned, alerts flashed trough wires and airwaves. The world s electronic eyes turned, opened, and waited. When the second plane streaked in, an immense audience perhaps hundreds of millions saw the jet, the angry explosion, the gushing smoke, the glass and steel raining down like confetti in a parade. They saw it live (Gardner, 2008). Nearly 3000 people were killed during the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 and the coming months the media were filled with interviews, profiles and terrible stories of loss. Fear of more terrorist attacks spread the nation. As a reaction, the American population massively abandoned airports and chose to travel by car instead, which had a great impact on the airline business. But what no one mentioned nor the media or politicians is that air travel is dramatically safer than driving. The safety gap is so large, that planes would still be safer than cars even if the threat of terrorism were unimaginably worse than it actually is. According to research, 1595 people lost their lives because of the major shift from air travel to a much less safe way of traveling: by car. The facts of logic of industrialization, technology, striving for efficiency have risen the argument that whether organizations should be culture free or not. Too much consideration of culture in an organization could reduce efficiency of the organizations. And it seems like the industrialization and technology development have put the culture problems aside, the conflicts caused by culture different could be ignored in this case. But is this the real situation? First of all, culture affects the beliefs and values of people, and also, it decides the behavior of people, the information gathering method and communication type, decision making and so on, which are all critical in running business. This concept has been inherited every generation throughout life. Everyone knows right from wrong, but when stereotyping comes into play, it s acceptable. Within a couple readings and videos portraying stereotypes, I have begun to realize why people continue to assort things into groups. My outcome is that people judge directly off what they see, then they begin to understand the truth to it. • 38. Religion In Dante s Inferno Seven hundred and three years ago Dante published his Inferno, still today many years later it is analyzed by many. how can Dante s work be depicted into different aspects of religions? The best way to understand the words of Dante is to relate religions to the text, by researching backgrounds of three diverse religions, analyzing the different aspects throughout Dante; we then can correlate his works with a deeper religious sense. In the first place, Christians of the new and old age primarily believe that after death their souls live on in the grace of God s presence. For example, in the Bible it states, Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies. In Dante s Inferno, Dante is shunned by God s grace and is trying to find his way back. In the concluding lines of inferno; ...and beauteous shining of the Heavenly cars. And we walked out once more beneath the Stars (Alighieri 287). These last words represent Dante climbing out of the nightmare he called Helland he is gazing upon the beautiful stars of Heaven. Which represents a sense of hope as if his sins are forgiven. Heaven and hell in the Bible have a rather vague description of the details embedded in the experience you will face in the afterlife. All that is very well known and established is Heaven is a place of light and God s love and Hell is the land in which you experience eternal suffering for your sins. These loose interpretations of hell are greatly represented in Inferno because Dante takes these thoughts and roughly based Christian ideology of the after life into his own Visions of Hell Henceforth, the Christian faith and ideas are the base to many other religions. Dante s Inferno a like Christianityhas multiple representations of faith including an abundance of Christian Beliefs. To find out, we interviewed four individuals on their choices, associations, and purchasing decisions when it came to shampoo. The aim of this research was to learn how consumer product relationships develop and relate to future purchasing decisions with mundane products less than five pounds. From the interviewers, we discovered how consumers relate to shampoo, their purchasing habits, price ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our first recommendation is the Point System , although consumers tend to buy the same shampoo brand for many years, they are still price sensitive and eager to make use of any potential offers or discounts. We therefore suggest that shampoo marketers respond to this price sensitivity by offering discounts to repeat users. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is Brand Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand for years and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these two points by using brand ambassadors. Conclusion Through our interviews we aimed to understand the consumer product relationship between individuals and their shampoo brand. As a group we were surprised by the level of brand loyalty individuals have towards their shampoo. A successful marketing campaign should therefore not only take into account the consumer decision making process but also the consumer product relationship. As it is through exploiting and analyzing this relationship that marketers can capture new customers and retain old customers. Marketing managers should not underestimate the power

The Artful Dodger, Jack Dawkins, is a thief in Fagin s gang. He meets young Oliver early on in the story and introduces him to Fagin. Jack then helps Oliver to become a thief only to fail and betray Oliver by leaving him to take the fall. Jack symbolizes the young children who have to cut their childhood short and grow up in order to provide for themselves. Oliver describes Jack He was a snub nosed, flat browed, common faced boy enough; and as dirty a juvenile as one would wish to see; but he had about him all the airs and manners of a man . • 46. Employer 401 Case Study We often ask the question, How does our 401(k) plan stack up? When you are an employee, you will consider items such as the investment choices, administration fees, or loan terms. However, if you are an owner, the most important thing to think about may be how to contribute the highest amount you can under Section 415. For 2016, the defined contribution plan annual addition limit without catch up is $53,000, and will rise to $54,000 next year. The Internal Revenue Code (IRC) subjects qualified employer plans to compliance testing. Employer 401(k) plans must pass the actual deferral percentage (ADP) test, and if there are employer match contributions, the actual contribution percentage (ACP) test. However, safe harbor plans are not subject to discrimination testing if the plan sponsor contributes a pre approved safe harbor employer contribution. Safe harbor plans guarantee that the Highly Compensated Employees (HCEs) will be able to contribute the maximum deferral amount of $18,000, but not necessarily the maximum annual addition under Code Section 415. In those cases, the triple stack match formula may be the solution, as follows: Stack One: 100% of the first 3% of deferrals, plus 50% on the next 2% of deferrals. That means that if an employee defers 5%, they will receive the maximum 4% of compensation match on the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. The Revolutionary Creation And The Liberation Of The World... The Internet Of Things The Revolutionary Creation The Liberation Of The World Wide Web Gary Kwong 8/11/2014 Dr. Michael Jones CIS 206 Business Software Applications Abstract Much like the telephone or the automobile, the internet has dramatically changed the way people work and live. Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly led to the creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas, collaborate, mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed today. From its humble beginning as a relatively inexpensive lab project aimed at improving workflows to its rise against tyranny in world affairs, a worldwide obsession with the internet has gone viral and will likely sweep non discriminatorily to all parts of the globe. As this loosely regulated environment, also known as Cyberspace, the Net or the Web , matures; it is the civic duty of its users to ensure that the door to the information gateway remains open and accessible as it continues to disrupt all industry and influence all aspects of human conditions. Introduction The worldwide use of the internet is practically indispensible. Yet, its origin only dates back to the early 1950s. No invention in history has grown so fast to touch so many lives. In fact, neither the telephone nor the automobile nor the printing press has the impact of the internet on the human civilization as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
