PERFORMANCE LOG<br /> WEEK MY LOGWEEK 1 : What is MimeAs this week was an introduction to our performance unit, my class and I researched about performance and about mime because that was our theme. I worked on my PowerPoint presentation and explained my findings on mime. I also researched on some famous mime artists so I could get an idea what they do. This week, each individual person in our class had to choose a job role for ourselves. I chose to be a props manager and I researched on the internet to find out what exactly are their responsibilities. WEEK 2: Watching Mime PerformancesWe continued our research on mime this week and we watched a few mime videos from YouTube. While watching this particular video of a mime performance about the 9/11 I observed the drama techniques used and the movements and gestures of the performer which is very realistic. The rest of this week we filled out some of the performance worksheets and uploading our performance mime presentation on our blogs.WEEK 3: The Elements of MimeWe continued our research and had a few meetings thinking about what we should do for our performance. I thought about the elements of mime and included the information.WEEK 4: Who is Our Audience? What do they want?We worked on our audience survey this week so we could find out what our target audience would be expecting from us for a performance. We filled out worksheets of our aims of the performance. WEEK 5: Ideas for Paired PerformanceThis week was about giving ideas towards our performance. As a class we thought of the main bits for our performance. We thought that we should have 2 or 3 big groups and also some paired groups. I didn’t have a pair because I was doing something different because I was the bus driver that picks and drops offs the next acts. The class worked on their paired scenes and I was thinking about my character profile.WEEK 6: Ideas for Group performanceWe worked on our group performance giving our ideas. We split into 3 groups and named it. ‘School’ scene which is my group, ‘Fan and Fanatic’ scene and ‘The Restaurant’ scene. We made up storyline of our plan and we rehearsed a few times this week of our paired performance and bits of our group scene.WEEK 6: Storyboarding We made up storyboard of our plan for our group performance and we rehearsed a few times this week of our paired performance and bits of our group scene. WEEK 7: Organising Rehearsals and Props and EquipmentWe organised our rehearsals in our production meeting and wrote it down in paper. As I was the props manger I went around each individuals this whole week and asked them what exactly the want. Afterwards Shapla and I (both props managers) discussed with the budgets team about the money and how we could raise it to get all the props and equipment needed for the show.WEEK 7: ChoreographyThe first few days of the week, the choreographers (Renee and Abigail) had to plan what dance to teach us while we rehearsed our paired scenes. Then the rest of the week they were teaching us the dance they made and we as actors also gave some ideas.WEEK 8: RehearsalWe planned our rehearsal dates and made sure everyone was happy with the rehearsal dates. We rehearsed this week. My group (school) had some difficulties because to members of the group unexpectedly could not do the performance because of personal matters so we had to think of a new storyboard. In rehearsals we went through our drama pieces on refining it by cutting our scenes shorter because we got feedback from the other members that it dragged on. This whole week was basically about developing our performance.WEEK 9 : Rehearsal & Production MeetingMost of this week we uploaded some of our performance work into our blogs. We also had a meeting about rehearsals and promotion ideas and also about props.WEEK 10: Campaign/ Promotion PlanAs a class we came up with our production campaign which is “Shhh!” and our media class name “Media Madness”. The production team spent this week making the posters and Some of us including me went around asking for permission if we could stick the posters around so our audience see it.WEEK 11: Rehearsal – Visit from Professional Mime ArtistThis week we rehearsed with Stuart Luis, professional mime expert. I took down notes which could add to my mime presentation as he talked through the origins of mime and how it developed over time. I learnt new skills and movements which really helped me.WEEK 12: Dress and Technical RehearsalsWe worked on rehearsing our whole performance this week with the lightings and sound. We went through the stage props transitions into other scenes.WEEK 13: PerformanceWe performed earlier this week and although a few things went wrong, everything was according to plan.<br />
