This document discusses different methods for calculating percentiles from a data set: 1) The index method calculates the percentile by taking the index number of the data point and dividing it by the total number of data points. 2) The rank method ranks all data points from lowest to highest and calculates the percentile by dividing the rank by the total number of data points. 3) Examples are provided to demonstrate calculating the 50th percentile using both the index method and rank method on sample data sets.
