Subject + Verb
Each normal English sentence always has a
subject that is followed by a verb.
Subject Verb
Sentences with One Clause
 The sentence has a subject and a verb.
Examples:
Traffic was backed up for miles on the freeway.
Engineers are needed for work on the new
space program.
Sentences with One Clause
 Differ the objects of preposition and
appositives when looking for subject.
Examples:
With his friend, he found the movie theater.
An excellent basketball player, Sarah rarely
misses her basketball player.
Sentences with One Clause
 Differ the present participles and past
participles when looking for verb.
Examples:
The child now playing in the yard is my son.
The poem written by Paul appeared in the
magazine.
Past Participles
 The past participle can be either an adjective
or a part of a verb.
Examples:
The family has purchased a paint.
as a part of a verb
The paint purchased yesterday was expensive.
as an adjective
Past Participles
 The past participle is the form of
a verb that appears with have or be.
Examples:
They have achieved many trophies.
He is injured by the other player.
Past Participles
 Regular past participles always end in –ed.
Sometimes, they have same form with Verb II.
Examples:
He scores some goals.
He scored some goals.
He has scored some goals.
The goals scored by Van Persie is amazing.

from verb 1.

I see a beautiful sunset.
