This document contains information about various English tenses and voice including: 1. It provides examples and explanations of the past future tense, present continuous tense, past perfect tense, and present perfect continuous tense in both active and passive voice. 2. For each tense, it gives the grammatical structure in active and passive forms as well as 15 example sentences for each converted between active and passive. 3. Additional information is provided on the use of passive voice and how to identify and change the subject, verb, and object when converting between active and passive sentences.

PASSIVE VOICE

3. Use of Passive
Passive voice is used when the focus is on the action.
It is not important or not known, however, who or what is
performing the action.
Example: My bike was stolen.
In the example above, the focus is on the fact that my bike was
stolen.
I do not know, however, who did it.
Sometimes a statement in passive is more polite than active
voice, as the following example shows:
Example: A mistake was made.
In this case, I focus on the fact that a mistake was made, but I do
not blame anyone (e.g. You have made a mistake.).

4. Form of Passive
Subject + finite form of to be + Past Participle
Example: A letter was written.
When rewriting active sentences in passive voice, note
the following:
•the object of the active sentence becomes the subject
of the passive sentence
•the finite form of the verb is changed (to be + past
participle)
•the subject of the active sentence becomes the object
of the passive sentence (or is dropped)

5. Past Future tense
Grammar : (A) S + would/should + V1 + O
(P) O + would/should + be + V3 + by + S
Example:
1. Nickhun would go to school at 6 AM
School would be gone by Nickhun at 6 AM
2. Yesung would meet me at warteg
I would be met by Yesung at warteg
3. They would teach me
I would be taught by them
4. She would get the ticket as soon as possible
The ticket would be gotten by her as soon as possible
5. Our class would explore Banten on February
Banten would be explored by our class on February

Grammar : (A) S + to be + Verb-ing+ O
(P) O +to be + being + verb 3 + by + S
Example:

Eleven Science one is being loved by Mr. T
3. They are doing home works
Home Works are being done by them

9. Past Perfect tense
Grammar : (A) S + had + V3 + O
(P) O + had+ been + V3 + by + S
