This document discusses creating an inclusive learning environment in university lecture spaces. It addresses how different types of students may situate themselves in the room and barriers to engagement. The lecturer is encouraged to be aware of positioning and body language, make eye contact, and move around the room to better connect with all students. Students are prompted to consider where they sat as undergraduates and how placement in the room impacts various stereotypes, like shy, disengaged, or those wanting to appear knowledgeable. The goal is to appreciate the teaching space and convey enthusiasm to aid active, inclusive learning.
