In 1836 Poe married his thirteen year old cousin, Virginia Clemms. Much of his early work went
unnoticed and it took until 1840 before Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque was published in
two volumes. This included the famous story The Fall of the House of Usher. Plans for starting
his own magazine did not lead too much and he continued to work as a magazine editor for
various publications. His Tales and The Raven and Other Poems, published in 1845, did bring
him some recognition but unfortunately it was not enough to sustain his family financially. Mrs.
Clemms and Poe s wife Virginia nearly starved to death one winter. After his wife s death in 1847
Poe became increasingly unstable and his dependence on tempted suicide in 1848 and tragically
died in 1849, five days after being found in a delirious and semi conscious condition in Baltimore.
2. Allan Poe s Works and Literary Achievement
Edgar Allan Poe was mostly known for his poems and short tales and his literary criticism. His
literary achievement was mostly on his short tales. The first short story collection, Tales of the
Grotesque and Arabesque, contains 25 short tales includes Ms. Found in a Bottle, Berenice,
Ligeia, Morella, The Fall of the House of Usher, William Wilson, etc. Later two short tales
collection, The Murders In The Rue Morgue, Tales, contains The Masque of the Red Death, The Pit

The Stalinist Era Of The Soviet Union During The 1930 S
The Stalinist era was a period in Russian history when normal life became a luxury . Stalin seized
control of the Soviet Union during a time of great opposition and chaos. The manifestation of
Communism forced the people to suffer through continuous upheavals. The state became the
monopolistic producer and distributor of goods and as a result had full authority over the
manufacturing and marketing of necessities such as basic foods, apartments, and even documents.
Everyday Stalinism is an account of the little men living in the Soviet Unionduring the 1930 s.

The rewards would come later (8)
Stalin s revolution is a term signifying the drastic increase in power experienced by the bureaucracy
during the 1930 s. The First Five Year Plan incorporated policies which furthered mass production.
The goal was to increase industrialization in order to reconstruct the Soviet Union into a utopian and
powerful nation. The politburo, titled nashi vozhdi , was determined to create a nation which
worked as a single, mass producing machine. Everyone was under constant watch and expected to
work in a campaign style, ...In short, hectic bursts of concentrated attention to particular tasks, not
through routine, incremental activity. This made life at the factory resemble life at the front... (32).
Efficient and vigourous production was key to reconstructing the Soviet Union into an
industrialized and socialist state. Shortages were one of the major issues encountered during the
perestroika. The inexperienced bureaucracy was comprised of unqualified officials who developed
an unrealistic and unorganized economy. Marxist thought encouraged heavy industry. The major
drawback was that it did not emphasize the production of consumer goods, nor their distribution.
Furthermore, petty tutelage or the desire to control even the smallest aspects of everyday life was
exercised during the 1930 s. In due course personal enterprise was forbidden. Basic necessities
were difficult to get which led to

Capital Financing And Cash Management
Corporate Finance The chief financial officer of your company understands it is impossible to
grow and flourish without new capital. Investment from outside or inside the firm generates
new processes and services, and therefore new cash flows, that add value to the firm. Should we
build a new factory, upgrade an existing one, or produce offshore? Would it be better to lease or
buy an expensive piece of manufacturing equipment or computer system? Should we acquire a
significant competitor or supplier? These are indicative of the various forms capital budgeting,
capital financing and cash management can take. Any time we consider a new capital
investment we need to know if the cash flow generated over time will pay for its upfront costs.
How do we assess the upfront costs against projected future cash flows to guarantee a profitable
return? How long will it take to generate that return? What risks do we face that may turn a
certain winner into a colossal loser? How do we calculate and price those risks? What is the
source of financing for these risks? Is it stocks, bonds, loans, or something else? CAPITAL
BUDGETING for the LONG HAUL The primary reason executives initiate capital investment
projects is value creation for stockholders. The objective of these investments is to create a higher
total return consisting of dividend income and capital gains. Our initial question in corporate
finance is to assess how new capital investments, like a factory, equipment purchase, or

April Morning by Howard Fast
AP American History Period 7 August 8, 2011 April Morning by Howard Fast is a novel that
takes place during the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775. The entire book takes place during
a 24 hour time period. Adam Cooper is the antagonist in this novel. When Adam goes to bed on
the eve of April 18, 1775 he is a boy. When he awakens the next morning he is forced to become a
man. In the early hours of the morning he, along with the rest of the town, is awakened by a lone
rider racing to Lexington to warn them that a British army, of maybe a thousand men, is marching
their way. Immediately the town is in a frenzy to prepare for the British arrival. The book is about

However, there is still the matter of Adam going to fight again and when Ruth asks Adam if he
will sign the muster book he is torn between staying with his family and Ruth or going to war
and fighting. As I read April Morning I found it very hard to stop reading. It is a fast moving
book that goes through, in detail, each battle that Adam had to face in just 24 hours. I loved
Adams character mostly because of his sarcasm in the beginning of the novel. I liked the fact
that he did not really want to shoot and kill the Redcoats he just wanted them to leave. The book
was cleverly written, and I admired Howard Fast for being able to write a book just about one
day and still keeps it interesting the whole way through. I never found myself getting bored or
tiered of reading it. I think it gives a great perspective on what the Battle of Lexington was like. It
had everything a book, in my opinion, should have: love, hate, sorrow, terror, adventure, and action.
A great read for anyone interested in learning more about our American history and how the

The Cask Of The Amontillado
Excessive Pride God makes some men poets. Some he makes Kings, some he makers beggars.
Richard Connell makes a clear point that not all people are the same. Some people think they re
better than others. This is often seen in literature. There are several short stories that discuss the
topic of excessive pride. Many authors have conveyed the themes that excessive pride is self
destructive, can change your life, and will come back to haunt you. In the short story, The Cask of
the Amontillado, Edgar Allan Poe conveys how excessive pride is self destroying. He shows how
being too proud in something can make you lose your sanity. In the story, Montresor is planning to
kill Fortunato because of how he insulted him. The author states, And the... Show more content on

Connell makes it to where the excessively proud individual gets haunted by his own choices. In
the story, General Zaroff brags about his hunts and how easy it is for him. The author conveys
Simply this: hunting had ceased to be what you call a sporting proposition . It had become too
easy. I always got my quarry. Always. There is no greater bore than perfection(Connell 25).
Zaroff states that hunting has become too easy because he is so perfect at it. He brags about
how great of a hunter he is and that the quarry stands no chance against him. Furthermore, the
author shows how sickeningly proud Zaroff really is. The author illustrates, The weak of the
world were put here to give the strong pleasure. I am strong. I hunt the scum of the Earth sailors
from tramp ships lascars, blacks, Chinese, whites, Mongols a thoroughbred horse or hound is
worth more than a score of them ( Connell 27). Zaroff is so excessively proud in his hunting and
who he is that he thinks he s doing the world a favor by taking out other people. He kills the
scum of the Earth because they are weak and he is strong . He is proud in the fact that he can kill
these people. There was many different ways that Connell showed excessive pride throughout the
story but Zaroff showed most and later died because of

The Importance Of Identity In My Life
What is Identity? For almost everyone, they would say that it is who you are. But, it means so
much more. Identity is the experiences that will influence your life. Your identity is who you are
and the decisions you make. Without identity, you wouldn t be who you are today. Your identity
can change in a matter of seconds, and there is no way to ensure one s outcome
In my life, I have had various events that contribute to my identity. One of the biggest events that
have affected my life is when I had my first seizure. I was around the age of five. It was around 5
at night, and I was at my babysitter s house. That night when we were eating dinner, I know that
I didn t like the type of pizza it was because it was supreme. Once I had finished my breadstick, I
was going to grab another one. In an instant, my babysitter, Laurie, had slapped my hand. I didn t
cry, but it did make me upset because she could have said no. After a couple of minutes, my
vision became very blurry, and all I could hear was a ringing noise. My body went numb, and all
of a sudden everything went black. When I came to I was on the floor with a throbbing
headache. My babysitter had already called my mother, and she was already on her way to the
house. She only worked a couple minutes away from her house so it didn t take very long for her
to arrive there. When she came inside the house, she looked scared. She kept asking me what
happened, but I had no idea. She then grabbed my shoes and took me to the

This missing feature should have been added when they got feedback from users while the

The Quranic And Biblical Story Of Adam And Eve
Kody Ayers
3/11/2015
The Quranic and Biblical Story of Adam and Eve Christianity and Islam are similar in many
beliefs and have many intersecting histories. These beliefs include major points such as a God and
ancient prophets. However, Islam and Christianity vary significantly between their religious written
works. These works are the Bible and the Qur an. The compilation of both in their respective
religions however do point back to God. God being the omnipotent deity in which these religions
believe in. It should be mentioned that although both religions have a God , that does not mean it
is the same God. There are key differences in beliefs, culture and history between the two. These
two religions are considered Abrahamic religions. Therefore they share a similar past and their
records talk about similar topics and events that transpired in the past. To help distinguish some
key points of the two religions, one can compare the works of them, regarding the past. This essay
will compare and contrast the same story of Adam and Eve in the Qur an and Bible and discuss
various key points from both and how that applies to elements of its religion. In the Bible, on the
sixth day of creation, God created all the land animals and humans. God created man in his own
image. In the bible he formed man and breathed life into him. This first human was named Adam.
After Adam, God created Eve. It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable

Syntax And Diction In My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
The controversial poem, My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic
debate from professors, scholars, and students alike; the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem
clearly support the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to reminisce on a
bittersweet memory with his father. His unclear commemoration has sparked a divide on what the
true purpose of the poem is. Some may argue the poem s purpose is to shine light on the subject of
abuse, whereas others believe the father and son were sharing a moment while roughly playing.
However, the more one examines this piece of literature, it becomes undeniable that the poem
portrays a scene of a toxic father son relationship. Although there are a... Show more content on

The main form of syntax that Roethke uses is rhyme scheme. My Papa s Waltz contains a simple
ABAB rhyme scheme, in which many slant rhymes are used; further, this makes the poem
sound similar to the way a song would. Notably, waltzes are guided dances... just as the father in
My Papa s Waltz, guided his son through life. Yet, it is also important to note that waltzes are
meant to be simple, swift, and loving. Although waltzes are described as these things, Roethke s
childhood is described as a waltz gone wrong. He makes it obvious he faces abuse and the
effects of alcoholism in his early life. As stated, the rhyme scheme used by Roethke helps
develop the true main idea of this poem by shaping it as it were a song, more specifically a
waltz. If the poem, My Papa s Waltz, was a song, it would be a pessimistic and depressing one.
Clearly, Roethke s unfortunate experiences portrayed by using syntax make us one step closer to
discovery the real purpose of the poem. In short, the syntax of this story shapes its meaning through
rhyme scheme. Diction is arguably the most important literary device carried throughout the
duration of this poem. Many readers were disoriented by the use of Roethke s word choice, yet it is
arguably the most indisputable piece of evidence used to portray the background of abuse in the
author s poem. Roethke uses words that carry negative connotations such as: beat, battered, death,
and more.

Servant Leadership And President Andrew Jackson As A...
Leadership refers to the act of leading a considerable number of people within an establishment or
the capacity to do this. Leadership has to do with coming up with a vision that is crystal clear and
the ability to spreads that idea out in a manner that makes individuals, given the information,
knowledge, and methods to understand, willing to follow. Subsequently, balancing and
coordinating the conflicting interests of all stakeholders and members. It is typical for any good
leader to step up in the event of a contingency, with the potential to imagine and act creatively in
situations that prove to be difficult. Different from management, leadershipcan never be taught, in
as much as it may be learned and bettered employing mentoring and coaching (Servant Leadership
Based on Robert Greenleaf s Writings, 2010).
An example of an individual that had outstanding leadership skills is President Andrew Jackson,
who, irrespective of previous letdowns, with persistent innovation and passion did all he could to
clinch the presidential seat and make America a better place. He being categorized among our
forefathers, the first Presidents of the United States, makes him an individual that was not
motivated by money or the like, but one that was driven by a deep feeling to serve Americans for
the sake of establishment of their country (Barbuto Wheeler, 2007). Andrew Jackson was a true
servant leader because he operated within the premise upon which servant leadership is founded
upon i.e. There s no greater purpose than service to others. He stands out from the current world
presidents of today because he was never driven by power, money, and prestige but through service
to other people. This paper is going to give invaluable insights concerning Andrew Jackson s
leadership style through the lens of the servant leader.

to the high levels of corruption in Afghanistan, corruption will always be a major factor to

Analysis Of Dreams From My Father By Barack Obama
Dreams from my father written by; former president Barack Obama. This text shows another
side to Obama that many of us has never seen of him before. In class my group and I covered
chapters 12 13; our group discussed some of the ideas of Obamas character. As we discussed his
experiences early in his career in the community of Chicago had helped him in the future, for his
presidency. The text we read showed a lot about Obama as a person it helped me understand
Obama even more. Obama is a caring man that only wants to help, for him to help the
community he has to understand the problems they are facing. Obama takes time to talk to
citizens in poverty stricken areas of Chicago. I think that shows that Obama genially wants to
help others and is taking his own time to properly gather a better understanding of the citizen s
problems. Also we discussed if America has grown as a country, and if the ideals from our
parents have been bestowed to us their children. Has time truly changed is our current generation
much different from past generations? Since Obama was young he has lived a life of struggles
and hardships, from his mother and father not staying together. The constant moving around even
to different parts of the world. Obama has chosen to be the example that America has seen. He
has taken the hard times he has been dealt and focused on to try to help other people s struggles.
Obama had chosen to work in the community to fix the problems in Chicago. This speaks a lot of

Patriarchal Relations Between The Patriarchy And The Mode...
Patriarchal structures that have played a profound role in shaping the economy throughout history
remain systemic to the organisation of today s economic capitalism. Maria Mies work, Patriarchy
and Accumulation on a World Scale, looks at the role of the patriarchy in maintaining social
relations of production that is conducive to capitalistic ideals. This notion remains relevant and
potent in today s society. Remnants of patriarchal relations fundamentally enable the extent of class,
exploitation, agency and power that drives this capitalist economy. While man woman relations are
conducive the process of capital accumulation, they are not mutually indispensible. That is, there is
no infinite or explicit relationship between labour wage gender inequality under capitalism.
However, it is the inability to disaffirm the prevalence of gendered norms that define women s
place in society enables the patriarchy to work in favour of capitalism and vice versa. The
interdependence between the patriarchy and the mode of production will be analysed in this essay
through three principle premises. The starting point will look at the social organisation of
hierarchical sexual relations based on biological natures. This will be the foundational and
underlying basis in which the patriarchy subliminally persists and reaffirms itself to influence
capitalist societies. Further on, it will look at the ways in which male female relations that have
persisted from precapitalist times continue to

Criminalization of Cyberbullying
As the effects of cyber bullying are becoming a growing problem, the criminalization of cyber
bullying is needed to prevent its harmful repercussions to the United States and serve as a
deterrent. Cyber bullying has become the 21st century version of bullying; it has extended
beyond the classroom and onto a virtual world that seems to have no real life effects. The world is
now able to bully someone in the comfort of his or her own home, at any given point, with the use
of technology. However, Cyber bullyingstill proves to have lasting impacts on the victimand it is
now time for the offender to feel the ramifications of their actions.
Studies indicate that cyber bullying incidents have quadrupled in past five years. Cyber ... Show

Threats of violence should also be reported to the police. Try to save all messages as evidence
(Hardcastle). Criminalization would give victims a method to stop the bullying. The issue is
here but not acknowledged as a problem deserving of consequence. If the law enforcement
agencies see that the society is focusing on the cyber bullying as a problem rather than just an
issue they would act upon it in a mannerly order to put a stop to it or prevent it from occurring on
a daily basis. However, by choosing to criminalize cyber bullying victims will be provided with a
way to stop the bullies from harassing them.
Cyber bullying laws are being created to make this destructive activity illegal. Threats are not
protected speech. Thus, cyber bullying isn t protected by the first amendment as freedom of
speech. Cyber bullying deprives people of their rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
According to research in as of June 2011, thirty states have passed bullying laws where cyber
bullying was included. Studies show that cyber bullying has influenced 50% of US teenagers.
Schools and organizations are required to create a bullying policy including cyber bullying, as long
as it is reported. Clear repercussions must be outlined. Schools require direction from the state
legislatures and education departments to draft policies that will hold up in court.
Although there isn t a specific target when it comes to cyber bullying, it tends to

Successful Open Marriages In Opening Up By Alfred Kinsey
Open marriages are a form of relationship first brought into the public eye by Alfred Kinsey in the
1960s. Since then, the idea of approved extra martial affairs have become even more popular,
despite the uneducated critics hollering about it being an insult to the institution of marriage, or a
way to justify cheating on one s significant other. As open marriages start to become a more
feasible option for couples looking to explore their sexuality, a common question always seems to
come up; this inquiry, in fact, will be the purpose of the following text. To begin, I use examples
from the 2004 biographical film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon and produced by Gail Mutrux.
While integrating discussion from Tristan Taormino and her book Opening Up: A Guide to
Sustaining Open Relationships, I introduce the concept of sociosexuality with the help of Lars
Penke s Sociosexual Orientation Inventory. In creating discussion with the above names, I aim to
demonstrate just what does make for a successful open relationship.
In the film Kinsey (Condon Mutrux, 2004), there is a clear divide between what constitutes a
successful and unsuccessful open relationship. Alfred Kinsey and his wife Clara Macmillan both
engage in extramarital affairs, yet remain close physically, emotionally, and sexually. Alternatively,
Clyde Martin (whom, it is worth noting, at one time engaged in an affair with both Kinsey and his
wife) starts a fight with another man, Paul Gebhard, after finding out Mrs.

Comparing Plato s The Symposium
In one of his most accomplished works, Plato brings to light the topic of alcohol and the
significance of drinking in The Symposium. Through this text, Plato is writing about philosophy is
the setting of a narrative in order to reinforce the context of the story. Plato was a metaphilosophist
that supported the theory of forms. He believed that understanding pure form, achieving true
wisdom, is something that cannot be defined or reduced to words, and all people should strive to
understand pure form. The main symbol in The Symposium, is wine, a representation of wisdom.
Throughout the narrative, the characters drink at a constant place. Having the wine allows for the
men to open up and share their ideas on love, as the characters try and... Show more content on

In a symposium, the symposiarch, the leader of the symposium, decides what is going to be talked
about, and each person at the symposium delivers a speech on that topic. As this is going on, the
people at the symposium pass around watered down wine and drink in rounds all at the same pace.
This drinking ritual is an example of sophrosunД“, an Ancient Greek value that emphasized self
restraint and conforming to societal expectations.
The main concept that Plato bases his argument on is the theory of forms. According to the theory
of forms, the physical world is created by the abstract ideas and concepts known as the
metaphysical world. Plato believed that the physical world was not real and was simply an
illusion for the metaphysical world. in The Symposium, there are six different levels to the
theory of forms as defined by Diotima. Diotima defines the levels using the example of love, the
topic of discussion at the symposium. The first two levels fall into the physical world and are
the love of one body and the love of all bodies. The third, fourth, and fifth levels fall under the
realm of the metaphysical world and are the love of minds, the love of customs and traditions, and
love of forms of knowledge respectively. The highest level in the theory of forms is pure form
which extends beyond the metaphysical world and cannot be defined. Only beings that have
achieved wisdom, beings that reside in the realm of pure form, can understand this idea. Plato

Cross Cultural Communication And The Classroom
Cross Cultural Communication The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable
one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself [Shaw]. Internalize this quote begs the question,
can education make a difference? This paper will examine in detail cross cultural communication, a
cultural issue that educators must seek to address in the delivery of teaching to English Language
Learners (ELL) classroom. Moreover, the ensuing paper will analyze the problems of cross cultural
communication in the classroom of ELL; this will be followed by its relation to the theories and
application of those methods. On the other hand, the writer will outline the effects of cross cultural
communication, and how these effects can be changed into a social value through education.
Examination of Cross Cultural Communication in the Classroom Instruction and assessment are
delivered through the medium of communication, while resolution of behavioral problems involve
communication. Significantly, in a classroom with ELL/LEP learners, the job of the teacher is not
only to teach but to be a mediator between the different cultures represented in the class. What
teachers must realize is that an environment that is filled with cultural tension does not lend itself to
learning. Therefore, administrators/educators must recognize cross cultural communication as
essential in the learning environment. Collier and Powell (1990), posits ethnic background

Neil Postman s An Internet Age Response
Thirty years ago, Neil Postman argued that with TV, we are amusing ourselves to death. More
recently, in an Internet age response to Postman, opposing author Steven Johnson argues that
everything bad is good for you, including video games, television, Internet, and film.
Neil Postman builds his argument by breaking down television into its component parts:
photographs and the telegraph. He argues that both of these media inherently decontextualize their
content. Photographs are inherently out of context. They can be nothing else. The content is
photographed so that it can be viewed in a different context at a later time. Far from picturing a
figure and its background, the photo combines both into one object. The context becomes content.
Instead, words provide meaningful context to explain the pictures. This is why newspaper
photographs have captions. The telegraph, TV s other component, dislocates events from
geography. It takes information from a context where it is pertinent, meaningful, and relevant and
removes it to a location where it has little or no import. Only rarely will this information affect the
daily life of the far off reader. Thus, primarily it is simply interesting, but it is not relevant. It s
entertainment with an alias: News. By combining these irrelevant events with those context less
images, the television is inherently a decontextualizing agent itself. Try watching the television
news without sound and imagine watching it without captions.

Ghost Hunt Research Paper
If you believe in ghosts, you aren t alone. A YouGov survey of about 1,000 people says that 45%

sounds crazy to believe that people can stick around after they die and even interact with objects
in our world, but so many people swear they have encountered something that they can t explain. I
ve always grew up really skeptical of these things. The Idea that spirits stick around with us after
death is an ancient one, and is incorporated into countless literature, from the Bible to Macbeth . It
has inspired so many different kinds of media like horror movies, ghoststories, and tv shows. I
grew up watching some of these things, and the question always remained in my head: Are ghosts
real? I really wanted to answer that in this senior project. I think I finally have a good answer that I

Private Prisons Vs. Federal Prisons
Private prisons are supposedly more cost effective than state or federal prisons. Or that is what
their representatives say. But regardless of whether they save money or not, are they truly
beneficial for our communities? This article hopes to break down some of the myths these private
prison corporations have used to push their agenda and discuss how that is far from the case. By
doing so, the reader can form his/her own conclusions on how pervasive and detrimental private
prisons have become within our communities. Additionally, by informing as many people as
possible about the harmful effects of privatizing the correctional system in our nation, we can soon
hope to address some of the emerging problems such as our increased prisonpopulations,
endangerment of prisoners staff personnel, and whether it truly is cost effective.
However, before we can dive into the dilemmas that the prison industrial complex created we must
first define what they are and how did they originate within our country. First, the private prison
system is not a new phenomenon. Although the first appearances of these facilities are not the ones
we think of today, the private sector s involvement in incarcerating people emerged in the early
eighteenth century. These privately operated facilities, in part, gained popularity because they used
the prisoners as laborers, artisans, and other needed occupations in the community. By the mid
nineteenth century, providers constructed the modern private

Annotated Bibliography On Database Management Systems
The ability to store information has always been important for our survival. In the beginning,
information used to be shared by word of mouth. Then, with the invention of writing, data slowly
started to be stored in books kept in libraries, sorted in specific order that made them easily
accessible. Finally, the invention of the computers led to the evolution of databases.
Databases are important, because thanks to them humans are able to store and later on retrieve
information. The way in which databases arise is very simple. It all begins as a list in a word
processing system. As the size of the list increases, the data starts to appear inconsistent. If this
occurs, Database Management Systems come to help, due to the fact they can store a large
amount of information in a number of tables linked to each other. Programs such as Access are
able to add new data to a database or make changes to already existing data from the database; they
are even able to delete information.
These features assist people in analyzing and categorizing information in the following way:
Tables lie in the core of any given database. Thanks to them, the possibility of redundancy is
greatly reduced. A database can consist of a number of different tables which enables the
researcher to break information down into smaller (and easier to analyse) pieces. Just like spread
sheets, they consist of rows (also called records) and columns (fields). By using records, researchers
are able to combine

The Houses of Parliament, Cas Vromans
The Palace of Westminster is the meeting spot of the House of Commons and the House of Lords,
the two homes of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Generally known as the Houses of
Parliament after its inhabitants, it is otherwise called the heart of British legislative issues . The
Palace lies on the north bank of the River Thames in the City of Westminster, in focal London.
The principal illustrious castle was based on the site in the eleventh century, and Westminster was
the main living place of the Kings of England until flame decimated a great part of the complex in
1512. After that, it served as the home of the Parliament of England, which had been meeting there
since the thirteenth century, furthermore as the seat of the Royal Courts of Justice, situated in and

Evaluating A Customer Reviews Of Products Sold Online
Bing and Liu discuss ways to enhance customer satisfaction in this paper by studying customer
reviews of products sold online. The paper also describes the problem of generating feature based
summaries based on these reviews. According to the paper, a customer review of a particular
product is composed of three parts, namely:
Different features of the products that the customers have expressed their opinion,
Identifying positive and negative opinions based on their reviews and finally
Composing a summary based on information obtained.
The main advantage of using feature based summary is that it enables customers for explicit
reviews on a particular product. This also enables merchants to study the growth of their products ...

The system crawls all the information (customer reviews) from the particular product and starts to
extract the feature words. The mining classification is divided into three subtasks. First, POS
tagging, most product feature in reviews contain nouns and phrases. POS enables to identify these
tags words by word. The authors have used NLProcessor linguistic parser to split the sentences
and produce POS tag for every individual word. Some pre processing is performed to remove stop
words to avoid big POS tag lists. Fuzzy matching was also used to deal with misspelling and word
variants. Second, identifying frequent features, features that are particularly used by customers in
many reviews. To put in context, words, or sentences that occur together in many reviews. The
authors use association mining to list out these words. An apriori algorithm based association miner
is used to identify these features/words. The gathered features cannot possibly be genuine product
features. Pruning enables to remove the unwanted features/words that don t match to product
opinion or feature. The author uses two pruning methods and compares their efficiency. While
using compactness pruning, it looks for features that is composed of two or more words and
identifies if they make

Theme Of Colors In The Great Gatsby
Colors are more than just sensations of the eye, they possess literary purpose. The world without
colors would be dull and uninteresting. They are used for more than just a visual explanation,
colors are extremely symbolic and can mean a lot of different things. For example, there are five
colors on the Olympic rings, blue, black, red, yellow, and green. Every flag in the world has at least
one of those colors on it, establishing unity throughout the countries, while they come together to
compete in the games. In life and literature, anything can be described, symbolized and
characterized using color. In The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald, colors are used to create a
deep description of objects and scenes in the book, portray different themes, and characterize the
unique figures throughout the novel. To begin, F. Scott Fitzgerald uses the color green to
symbolize Gatsby s hopes, dreams, and jealousy. The first time green is used is at the end of
chapter one while describing Nick s sight of Gatsby reaching forward toward the green light at
the end of Daisy s dock. Involuntarily I glanced seaward and distinguished nothing except a single
green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock (Fitzgerald, 24).
Although it seems small, the green light is a big symbol throughout The Great Gatsby. In Gatsby s
eyes, the green light just represents Daisy, who is his lifelong pursuit and dream (Zhang, 4). Gatsby
believes if he makes enough money and

Taser Discretion
According to Use of Tasers by Law Enforcement agencies, the intention of the Taser program is to
encourage deviation from killing a violent offender to simply immobilizing a violent offender until
all parties are safe and that specific area has been secured. The decision to use such force is left to
the discretion of the officer to dictate the intent of the individual in question and to determine what
the meaning of safety is at that particular time. This cultural change can be achieved through
education of all of the previously mentioned: the weapon itself, the effects the weapon can have on
a human body and discretion. The Taser International program itself has presented itself and its
Taser products to law enforcement agencies as an alternate

Who Is The Protagonist In The Crucible
The Crucible John Proctor in this story is described as a man of his word and for the most part
honest in everything he says or is asked to answer. He also has problems of his own to, like not
being faithful to his wife at times or mostly at all times do to problems, and also having a secret
but not intimate relationship with Abagail Williams. This is why I strongly feel like he is the
protagonists of the story because of his failure in his relationship, his guilt because of it, and his
redemption at the end of the story. A reason that supports this claim is his secret relationship with
Abagail Williams and how she uses that to cause problems within his relationship. The other reason
that he is the main protagonists is because of his dying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have given you my soul; leave me my name . This shows him saying that he doesn t want to
write his name because if was to sign it all he would have is what he believes in and not the thing
he has once in his life. He was also done playing this game of lies and sin, so he tears up his
confession paper about all the other people. So, like I said he is the protagonist because of what
his problems bring out in him but that is not the only thing that shows who he truly is. The other
reason he rather choose to hang is so that he doesn t let such an innocent girl like his wife
Elizbeth die for his mistakes. He states it very clear when is talking to Mary Warren about the
situation and he says (Miller.2.435) My wife will never die for me! I will bring your guts into
your mouth but that goodness will not die for me! . Even though he may not be entirely interested
or truthful to Elizbeth, he still cared for her and would rather himself die then an innocent woman
for him. While he was doing this his wife was supposed to be persuading him even though she
knew she couldn t to lie but didn t because she understood his need for redemption. In

Substantive Vs Adjudicatory System
Colin Martin
Comparative CRJS systems
Essay topic #1
Today I will be talking about substantive and procedural law, as well as the adjudicatory system
and the different parts within it. I hope to give you great examples and detailed explanations to
open your eyes on these topics. I also hope to give you a better basic understanding of these
processes in different locations around the world as well. Substantive law is that part of law which
creates, defines, and regulates rights. It provides citizens with information about what behavior is
required or prohibited and explains what may happen to people who misbehave. Procedural law has
two models, the crime control model and the due process model. Both models are techniques to

I myself do not believe that it fits into the adjudicatory process. I say that because Islamic law
recognizes no distinction between legal systems and other controls on a person s behavior.
They provide all answers to questions about appropriate behavior in any sphere of life. Islam s
basic form of law comes from the Qur an and Sunna, Ijma and Qiyas, and schools of law. With all
this if I had to choose a system, I would choose inquisitorial since Islamic law is slightly
considered similar to common law. Countries that follow this tradition today are Saudi Arabia and
Iran. Lastly there is the Eastern Asia legal tradition, which is a mixture of both depending on the
case. With all that I feel that this tradition is the most complex, since it has to deal with the entire
adjudicatory process instead of just a part. A few countries that follow this mixed tradition are Hong
Kong, Macao, Japan, Mongolia, and North and South

countries use a multiple payer system, the United Statesuses a very complex multiple payer system.
The four healthcare models that the United States uses are the Beveridge model, the Bismarck

Government insurance is divided into four different types Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and VA.
Medicare is government program that covers individuals 65 and older and disabled. Medicare is
single payer program paid only by the government (Ping Chua, 2006). Medicare is financed by
payroll tax, federal income tax and premiums from individuals enrolled in part C and D.
Medicaid is a government program designed for low income families whose income is 138% or
$16,000 annually per individual, and disabled. However, only the 32 states that chose to expand
Medicaid are providing Medicaid for their residents (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2015). Medicaid
is financed by both the federal and state. CHIP is a government program that was created to
cover children whose families don t qualify for Medicaid and are too poor to purchase private
health coverage on their own. CHIP was also designed to cover pregnant women (Ping Chua, 2006).
The federal and state government also finance the CHIP program. Lastly VA, which is Veteran s
Administration, is a federally administered program for veterans. The federal government through
payroll finances this type of government insurance (Ping Chua, 2006).
The way that the private health insurance companies work is very complicated. The second payer
that finances U.S healthcare system is the private health insurance, and it consists of employer
sponsored insurance and private non group (individual market) (Ping Chua, 2006). The employer

How Is George Patton Successful
General George Smith Patton {Good} Old Blood and Guts
The great General George Smith Patton said that A good solution applied with vigor now is better
than a perfect solution applied ten minutes later. Patton was a great leader and an even better
strategist; although, he was a ruthless man who had a love for war and death. While General
George Patton s childhood developed his strategic thinking and cunning leadership, his narcissistic
self promotion led us to victory in World War II.
George Smith Patton always had a lifelong interest in the military and war. Patton was born on
the 11th of November 1885 in San Gabriel, California. Patton was a dyslexic young man so school
was hard for him (river editor, 42). He had low self esteem and he cried often (river editor,42).

Blurring The Boundary
Mutants
The world we live in is advancing more and more every day. We are beginning to exceed
boundaries and reach new limits. Science and Technology has come a long way since Copernicus
said that the sun was the center of the universe. Science fiction is slowly coming to life. We are
building robots that are extremely similar to humans, modifying genes, and creating clones.
Authors wrote about these abstract ideas not too long ago, but at the time they seemed far
fetched. Scientific and technological advancement may be for good or for evil. The good side is
the advancements in medicine that could limit the risk of a particular disease or even cure one.
The potentially bad side is the steps we may take to get there without knowing the long term effect.

beginning to perform unimaginable tasks. Such as, cloning and genetic modification to build a
baby. This building of babies may lead to the development of a super race. A super race, consists
of people who are genetically modified in the developmental stages of birth, so that they are born

The Merchant Of Venice Character Analysis
In The Merchant of Venice, William Shakespeare examines attractive qualities in a royal suitor
through the casket test designed by Portia s late father. Each suitor s choice represents his
perception of himself, Portia, and marriage, therefore can be anticipated by his words and actions
prior to and during the test. The presence and expression of bravado among the men functions as
the most indicative characteristic of the men s choices, as a man s portrayal of himself can tell a
great deal about his views towards women and relationships. This foreshadowing is accomplished
through their boastful diction, willingness to risk, and reactions to the caskets. As the three caskets
each represent a different viewpoint, the three men also represent three distinct personality types,
thus different expressions of confidence which the reader is able to detect through the suitor s
words and actions as they are systematically written by the author. The prince of Morocco is the
first suitor whose choiceis included in the play. One important factor in his interactions with
Portia is racial prejudice. He immediately feels the need to acknowledge the elephant in the room
with his opening comment Mislike me not for my complexion.... Portia is polite, but by
describing him as fair as any comer I have looked on yet, it is revealed to the audience she is not
enthusiastic about the exotic man, since her earlier suitors were disagreeable in many ways. This
shortcoming may be the reason for

The Poultry Farming Is The Most Popular Industry For The...
Introduction: The poultry industry has become the most popular industry for the small holders with
tremendous contribution in the world and employment opportunities creation (Adebayo and
Adeola, 2005; Okonkwo and Akubo, 2001). Therefore, it is important that poultry farming be
carried out efficiently for high productivity and sustainability of the poultry industry. It has been
established that feeding constitutes over that a estimate of 70% of the total cost of egg and broiler
production (Afolayan and Afolayan, 2008) which implies that efforts to increase Ghana poultry
industry productivity should be directed towards improving feed formulation system. This lab

Every year the marketing age of broilers decreases by an average of 0.75 days for the same
performance. The problem is recognized as optimizing cost factor, which depends on constraints
(ingredients of the feed) and could be solved by Deterministic Linear Programming Model, (DLPM)
or Mixed Integer Programming, (MIP). This trend is likely to continue in the same direction for
the coming years. Nutrition plays a vital role in enabling this improvement. As the feed cost
represents an expensive input (70 80% of broiler production cost), the poultry producer should be
aware of the dynamics of the feed in its influence on final product quantity and quality. Formulating
feed ideally requires in depth knowledge of several parameters such as the energy level to be
maintained in the diet, balancing the amino acid profile and electrolytes of feed etc., which,
otherwise, if not properly monitored, could negatively influence the performance and profitability
of the business.
Many poultry farmers, however, employ inefficient methods like rule of thumb, experiences, and
intuition to handle feed formulation problem. The poultry industry has a significant effect on
national economy; it is a popular industry for the small holders. The aim of this lab report is to
develop an optimization feed formulation model, using locally available feed ingredients, for the
poultry industry. Relevant literature is

Richard St. John Research Paper
Richard St. John did not know how to answer the question: how does one become successful? .
Just like many people on this earth struggle to answer that question. Humans all strive for success
but many do not know how, by following St. John s 8 points: Passion, work, practice, focus,
push, serve, ideas, and persist, then one can be lead to the road of success. I was intrigued that the
common similarities of becoming successful are the 8 main points. They are basic things that
many have been doing all their life, so many will be confused as to why they are not successful, but
they will needto combine all 8 of these in order to be successful. I agree that all of the 8 points are
necessary to succeed, but it will be very hard to become successful... Show more content on

do that, so St. John had joked that our mothers were there to push us, but it is true that we need our

in life will be there for us to encourage us to not give up even though it may seem like a lot of
work. We should not have to deal with this all alone. 3.serving others you ve got to serve others

the way people truly become rich is by serving others, I believe this is not rich by money but in

Birth Control Effects
Effects of Birth Control 11 million women are currently taking birth control orally in the U.S.
Studies have shown that 99% of the time birth control helps by preventing any type of unwanted
pregnancies. Although, many are unaware of the mental and physical health effects that birth
control could have on them.
How Birth Control Works During the beginning of each menstrual cycle, the estrogen levels in the
women s body starts to increase. Estrogen is hormone ,where once released into the female body it
begins to thicken the lining of the uterus in preparation of fertilizing an egg. When the estrogen
levels higher even more, the ovaries release an egg. This process is well known as ovulation. After
this, the progesterone levels rise. Progesterone is a hormone that thickens the lining of the uterus to
prepare for the fertilizing of the egg. During this process, the egg is traveling through the fallopian
tubes, trying to get to the uterus. When the egg is fully fertilized and it implants itself within the
uterus the pregnancy process begins. If the egg doesn t successfully fertilize or it doesn t attach itself
accurately to the uterus, then, there is no chance of pregnancy. As a result, the estrogen and
progesterone hormone levels start to decrease and the thickened uterus lining starts to shed. Birth
control is a synthetic type of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Birth control works because
it prevents the whole ovulation process. With

Much of his early work went unnoticed and it took until 1840 before Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque was published in two volumes. This included the famous story The Fall of the House of Usher. Plans for starting his own magazine did not lead too much and he continued to work as a magazine editor for various publications. His Tales and The Raven and Other Poems, published in 1845, did bring him some recognition but unfortunately it was not enough to sustain his family financially. Mrs. Clemms and Poe s wife Virginia nearly starved to death one winter. After his wife s death in 1847 Poe became increasingly unstable and his dependence on tempted suicide in 1848 and tragically died in 1849, five days after being found in a delirious and semi conscious condition in Baltimore. 2. Shortages were one of the major issues encountered during the perestroika. The inexperienced bureaucracy was comprised of unqualified officials who developed an unrealistic and unorganized economy. I loved Adams character mostly because of his sarcasm in the beginning of the novel. I liked the fact that he did not really want to shoot and kill the Redcoats he just wanted them to leave. The book was cleverly written, and I admired Howard Fast for being able to write a book just about one day and still keeps it interesting the whole way through. These works are the Bible and the Qur an. The compilation of both in their respective religions however do point back to God. God being the omnipotent deity in which these religions believe in. It should be mentioned that although both religions have a God , that does not mean it is the same God. There are key differences in beliefs, culture and history between the two. • 18. Syntax And Diction In My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke The controversial poem, My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike; the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly support the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to reminisce on a bittersweet memory with his father. His unclear commemoration has sparked a divide on what the true purpose of the poem is. Some may argue the poem s purpose is to shine light on the subject of abuse, whereas others believe the father and son were sharing a moment while roughly playing. However, the more one examines this piece of literature, it becomes undeniable that the poem portrays a scene of a toxic father son relationship. Although there are a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main form of syntax that Roethke uses is rhyme scheme. My Papa s Waltz contains a simple ABAB rhyme scheme, in which many slant rhymes are used; further, this makes the poem sound similar to the way a song would. Notably, waltzes are guided dances... just as the father in My Papa s Waltz, guided his son through life. Yet, it is also important to note that waltzes are meant to be simple, swift, and loving. Although waltzes are described as these things, Roethke s childhood is described as a waltz gone wrong. He makes it obvious he faces abuse and the effects of alcoholism in his early life. As stated, the rhyme scheme used by Roethke helps develop the true main idea of this poem by shaping it as it were a song, more specifically a waltz. If the poem, My Papa s Waltz, was a song, it would be a pessimistic and depressing one. Clearly, Roethke s unfortunate experiences portrayed by using syntax make us one step closer to discovery the real purpose of the poem. In short, the syntax of this story shapes its meaning through rhyme scheme. Diction is arguably the most important literary device carried throughout the duration of this poem. Many readers were disoriented by the use of Roethke s word choice, yet it is arguably the most indisputable piece of evidence used to portray the background of abuse in the author s poem. Roethke uses words that carry negative connotations such as: beat, battered, death, and more. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Analysis Of Dreams From My Father By Barack Obama Dreams from my father written by; former president Barack Obama. This text shows another side to Obama that many of us has never seen of him before. In class my group and I covered chapters 12 13; our group discussed some of the ideas of Obamas character. As we discussed his experiences early in his career in the community of Chicago had helped him in the future, for his presidency. The text we read showed a lot about Obama as a person it helped me understand Obama even more. Obama is a caring man that only wants to help, for him to help the community he has to understand the problems they are facing. Obama takes time to talk to citizens in poverty stricken areas of Chicago. I think that shows that Obama genially wants to help others and is taking his own time to properly gather a better understanding of the citizen s problems. Also we discussed if America has grown as a country, and if the ideals from our parents have been bestowed to us their children. Has time truly changed is our current generation much different from past generations? Since Obama was young he has lived a life of struggles and hardships, from his mother and father not staying together. The constant moving around even to different parts of the world. Obama has chosen to be the example that America has seen. He has taken the hard times he has been dealt and focused on to try to help other people s struggles. • 23. Patriarchal Relations Between The Patriarchy And The Mode... Patriarchal structures that have played a profound role in shaping the economy throughout history remain systemic to the organisation of today s economic capitalism. Maria Mies work, Patriarchy and Accumulation on a World Scale, looks at the role of the patriarchy in maintaining social relations of production that is conducive to capitalistic ideals. This notion remains relevant and potent in today s society. Remnants of patriarchal relations fundamentally enable the extent of class, exploitation, agency and power that drives this capitalist economy. While man woman relations are conducive the process of capital accumulation, they are not mutually indispensible. That is, there is no infinite or explicit relationship between labour wage gender inequality under capitalism. However, it is the inability to disaffirm the prevalence of gendered norms that define women s place in society enables the patriarchy to work in favour of capitalism and vice versa. The interdependence between the patriarchy and the mode of production will be analysed in this essay through three principle premises. The starting point will look at the social organisation of hierarchical sexual relations based on biological natures. This will be the foundational and underlying basis in which the patriarchy subliminally persists and reaffirms itself to influence capitalist societies. Further on, it will look at the ways in which male female relations that have persisted from precapitalist times continue to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since then, the idea of approved extra martial affairs have become even more popular, despite the uneducated critics hollering about it being an insult to the institution of marriage, or a way to justify cheating on one s significant other. As open marriages start to become a more feasible option for couples looking to explore their sexuality, a common question always seems to come up; this inquiry, in fact, will be the purpose of the following text. To begin, I use examples from the 2004 biographical film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon and produced by Gail Mutrux. While integrating discussion from Tristan Taormino and her book Opening Up: A Guide to Sustaining Open Relationships, I introduce the concept of sociosexuality with the help of Lars Penke s Sociosexual Orientation Inventory. In creating discussion with the above names, I aim to demonstrate just what does make for a successful open relationship. In the film Kinsey (Condon Mutrux, 2004), there is a clear divide between what constitutes a successful and unsuccessful open relationship. Alfred Kinsey and his wife Clara Macmillan both engage in extramarital affairs, yet remain close physically, emotionally, and sexually. Alternatively, Clyde Martin (whom, it is worth noting, at one time engaged in an affair with both Kinsey and his wife) starts a fight with another man, Paul Gebhard, after finding out Mrs. ... In a symposium, the symposiarch, the leader of the symposium, decides what is going to be talked about, and each person at the symposium delivers a speech on that topic. As this is going on, the people at the symposium pass around watered down wine and drink in rounds all at the same pace. This drinking ritual is an example of sophrosunД“, an Ancient Greek value that emphasized self restraint and conforming to societal expectations. The main concept that Plato bases his argument on is the theory of forms. According to the theory of forms, the physical world is created by the abstract ideas and concepts known as the metaphysical world. Plato believed that the physical world was not real and was simply an illusion for the metaphysical world. in The Symposium, there are six different levels to the theory of forms as defined by Diotima. Diotima defines the levels using the example of love, the topic of discussion at the symposium. The first two levels fall into the physical world and are the love of one body and the love of all bodies. The third, fourth, and fifth levels fall under the realm of the metaphysical world and are the love of minds, the love of customs and traditions, and love of forms of knowledge respectively. The highest level in the theory of forms is pure form which extends beyond the metaphysical world and cannot be defined. • 30. Neil Postman s An Internet Age Response Thirty years ago, Neil Postman argued that with TV, we are amusing ourselves to death. More recently, in an Internet age response to Postman, opposing author Steven Johnson argues that everything bad is good for you, including video games, television, Internet, and film. Neil Postman builds his argument by breaking down television into its component parts: photographs and the telegraph. He argues that both of these media inherently decontextualize their content. Photographs are inherently out of context. They can be nothing else. The content is photographed so that it can be viewed in a different context at a later time. Far from picturing a figure and its background, the photo combines both into one object. The context becomes content. Instead, words provide meaningful context to explain the pictures. This is why newspaper photographs have captions. The telegraph, TV s other component, dislocates events from geography. It takes information from a context where it is pertinent, meaningful, and relevant and removes it to a location where it has little or no import. Only rarely will this information affect the daily life of the far off reader. Thus, primarily it is simply interesting, but it is not relevant. It s entertainment with an alias: News. By combining these irrelevant events with those context less images, the television is inherently a decontextualizing agent itself. This article hopes to break down some of the myths these private prison corporations have used to push their agenda and discuss how that is far from the case. By doing so, the reader can form his/her own conclusions on how pervasive and detrimental private prisons have become within our communities. Additionally, by informing as many people as possible about the harmful effects of privatizing the correctional system in our nation, we can soon hope to address some of the emerging problems such as our increased prisonpopulations, endangerment of prisoners staff personnel, and whether it truly is cost effective. However, before we can dive into the dilemmas that the prison industrial complex created we must first define what they are and how did they originate within our country. First, the private prison system is not a new phenomenon. Although the first appearances of these facilities are not the ones we think of today, the private sector s involvement in incarcerating people emerged in the early eighteenth century. These privately operated facilities, in part, gained popularity because they used the prisoners as laborers, artisans, and other needed occupations in the community. • 36. Annotated Bibliography On Database Management Systems The ability to store information has always been important for our survival. In the beginning, information used to be shared by word of mouth. Then, with the invention of writing, data slowly started to be stored in books kept in libraries, sorted in specific order that made them easily accessible. Finally, the invention of the computers led to the evolution of databases. Databases are important, because thanks to them humans are able to store and later on retrieve information. The way in which databases arise is very simple. It all begins as a list in a word processing system. As the size of the list increases, the data starts to appear inconsistent. If this occurs, Database Management Systems come to help, due to the fact they can store a large amount of information in a number of tables linked to each other. Programs such as Access are able to add new data to a database or make changes to already existing data from the database; they are even able to delete information. These features assist people in analyzing and categorizing information in the following way: Tables lie in the core of any given database. Thanks to them, the possibility of redundancy is greatly reduced. A database can consist of a number of different tables which enables the researcher to break information down into smaller (and easier to analyse) pieces. Just like spread sheets, they consist of rows (also called records) and columns (fields). By using records, researchers are able to combine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Generally known as the Houses of Parliament after its inhabitants, it is otherwise called the heart of British legislative issues . The Palace lies on the north bank of the River Thames in the City of Westminster, in focal London. The principal illustrious castle was based on the site in the eleventh century, and Westminster was the main living place of the Kings of England until flame decimated a great part of the complex in 1512. After that, it served as the home of the Parliament of England, which had been meeting there since the thirteenth century, furthermore as the seat of the Royal Courts of Justice, situated in and around Westminster Hall. In 1834, a considerably more noteworthy fire desolated the vigorously remade Houses of Parliament, and the main huge medieval structures to survive were Westminster Hall, the Cloisters of St Stephen s, the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft, and the Jewel Tower. • 45. Theme Of Colors In The Great Gatsby Colors are more than just sensations of the eye, they possess literary purpose. The world without colors would be dull and uninteresting. They are used for more than just a visual explanation, colors are extremely symbolic and can mean a lot of different things. For example, there are five colors on the Olympic rings, blue, black, red, yellow, and green. Every flag in the world has at least one of those colors on it, establishing unity throughout the countries, while they come together to compete in the games. In life and literature, anything can be described, symbolized and characterized using color. In The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald, colors are used to create a deep description of objects and scenes in the book, portray different themes, and characterize the unique figures throughout the novel. To begin, F. Scott Fitzgerald uses the color green to symbolize Gatsby s hopes, dreams, and jealousy. The first time green is used is at the end of chapter one while describing Nick s sight of Gatsby reaching forward toward the green light at the end of Daisy s dock. Involuntarily I glanced seaward and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock (Fitzgerald, 24). Although it seems small, the green light is a big symbol throughout The Great Gatsby. In Gatsby s eyes, the green light just represents Daisy, who is his lifelong pursuit and dream (Zhang, 4). The Merchant Of Venice Character Analysis In The Merchant of Venice, William Shakespeare examines attractive qualities in a royal suitor through the casket test designed by Portia s late father. Each suitor s choice represents his perception of himself, Portia, and marriage, therefore can be anticipated by his words and actions prior to and during the test. The presence and expression of bravado among the men functions as the most indicative characteristic of the men s choices, as a man s portrayal of himself can tell a great deal about his views towards women and relationships. This foreshadowing is accomplished through their boastful diction, willingness to risk, and reactions to the caskets. As the three caskets each represent a different viewpoint, the three men also represent three distinct personality types, thus different expressions of confidence which the reader is able to detect through the suitor s words and actions as they are systematically written by the author. Every year the marketing age of broilers decreases by an average of 0.75 days for the same performance. The problem is recognized as optimizing cost factor, which depends on constraints (ingredients of the feed) and could be solved by Deterministic Linear Programming Model, (DLPM) or Mixed Integer Programming, (MIP). This trend is likely to continue in the same direction for the coming years. Nutrition plays a vital role in enabling this improvement. As the feed cost represents an expensive input (70 80% of broiler production cost), the poultry producer should be aware of the dynamics of the feed in its influence on final product quantity and quality. Formulating feed ideally requires in depth knowledge of several parameters such as the energy level to be maintained in the diet, balancing the amino acid profile and electrolytes of feed etc., which, otherwise, if not properly monitored, could negatively influence the performance and profitability of the business. Birth Control Effects Effects of Birth Control 11 million women are currently taking birth control orally in the U.S. Studies have shown that 99% of the time birth control helps by preventing any type of unwanted pregnancies. Although, many are unaware of the mental and physical health effects that birth control could have on them. How Birth Control Works During the beginning of each menstrual cycle, the estrogen levels in the women s body starts to increase. Estrogen is hormone ,where once released into the female body it begins to thicken the lining of the uterus in preparation of fertilizing an egg. When the estrogen levels higher even more, the ovaries release an egg. This process is well known as ovulation. After this, the progesterone levels rise. Progesterone is a hormone that thickens the lining of the uterus to prepare for the fertilizing of the egg. During this process, the egg is traveling through the fallopian tubes, trying to get to the uterus. When the egg is fully fertilized and it implants itself within the uterus the pregnancy process begins. If the egg doesn t successfully fertilize or it doesn t attach itself accurately to the uterus, then, there is no chance of pregnancy. As a result, the estrogen and progesterone hormone levels start to decrease and the thickened uterus lining starts to shed. Birth control is a synthetic type of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Birth control works because it prevents the whole ovulation process. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
