Ericsson Technology Review: Leveraging LTE and 5G NR networks for fixed wirel...Ericsson
LTE and 5G New Radio are opening up significant commercial opportunities for operators to use fixed wireless access (FWA) to bring the internet to many of the more than one billion households around the world that are still unconnected, as well as to many small and medium-sized businesses. We believe that the most promising approach is shared investment with mobile broadband (MBB), using the same ecosystem, assets and spectrum bands.
The latest Ericsson Technology Review article highlights the key principles for combined MBB and FWA deployments, and presents a use case that illustrates the recommended deployment approach. The actions we recommend are designed to benefit both MBB and FWA services simultaneously.

Webinar: Laying the foundations of phase timingDavid Chambers
Making best use of precious spectrum assets requires precise frequency and phase timing synchronisation. This is increasingly important as networks increase capacity through densification with small cells and advanced LTE features. Building on years of experience and extensive field trials, Microsemi have evolved a product suite that delivers accurate frequency and phase timing at the network edge, making full use of the growing number of GNSS satellite constellations combined with wireline packet synchronisation.
In this webinar, Eric Colard, Head of Emerging Line of Business for Synchronisation at Microsemi, shares his experience gained from extensive field trials and discussions with operators in many regions, revealing many practical aspects and deployment issues. He’ll explain how GNSS signals can be received indoors - even inside windowless basements, why mounting on walls and ceilings can give differing results, and why common solutions are sought for both indoor and outdoor sites.
Looking to the future, many operators want to select a timing and synchronisation architecture that will satisfy their needs for many years - not just for the immediate demands of 3G and FDD-LTE, but LTE-Advanced, TD-LTE, NFV and even 5G. Robust timing and sync is a foundation capability for every cellular network and this webinar will clearly explain the industry requirements and issues.

Thinksmallcell Analyst Spotlight Webinar Jan 2016David Chambers
Leading Small Cell industry analysts share their 5 year forecasts and underlying assumptions, broken down by market segment. A separate Q&A session raises common concerns from the audience, revealing more insight into market dynamics.
Scope includes both indoor and outdoor, DAS, Remote Radio Heads and independent Small Cells - pretty much everything apart from today's macrocells.
Slide deck online also includes an embedded recording of the webinar itself.
In the past, we’ve seen a regular 10 year technology refresh with 2G, 3G and 4G each being added incrementally. Some believe that 5G will follow in the same cycle, although at the moment it remains vague and unpredictable. Others point out that the benefits of each new generation – mainly increasing spectral efficiency and releasing new spectrum – are reaching their full potential. This has been a key argument for small cell deployment, which increases capacity through frequency reuse without the need for additional spectrum or spectral efficiencies.
This presentation provides an introduction to Mobile Cellular Macrocells & Small Cells. It looks at Macrocell components and different terminology associated with it. It also looks at Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). Then it looks at the need for small cells, different definitions and types of small cells. It also looks at some interesting examples of small cells, especially on drones and helikites. Finally it looks at the difference between boosters, repeaters, relays and small cells.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

will demonstrate interoperability and ease of deployment, as well as automation
of configuration and maintenance. In addition to demonstrating interoperability,
this trial network will also address the requirements of FirstNet to provide voice
and data coverage from rural, to in-buildings, to in-vehicles.
Interoperability is one key aspect of the deployment.
… sometimes first responders are deployed to an area with
no cellular coverage. In that situation, the company's CWS-
200, a ruggedized in-vehicle eNodeB and Wi-Fi Access
point, could be a solution. The CWS-200 is a compact,
self-configuring mesh solution. The device can provide
its own backhaul via LTE or satellite.

The most interesting new entrant in the wireless
base-station market is a New Hampshire startup with a
penchant for thinking differently.
Although Parallel Wireless did not have a dedicated stand at
APCO 2015, the company appeared in Cisco's exhibit ... By
including Parallel Wireless – which brings a proven
platform for outdoor or vehicle-mounted deployment to
the Cisco story ... But the move was also striking in that it
spotlighted Cisco's inability to leverage the small-cell
investment it made in 2013 with its acquisition of
Ubiquisys, a small-cell specialist.
